Hi, I'm quite freaked out to be honest and, whilst I don't mind skeptics, I don't need to be told I'm being ridiculous. I'm really scared.

Bit of background:
As a teenager, I did stupid things at sleepovers with my group of friends (we did a seance o and we tried to 'communicate' with spirits). It sometimes 'worked' and sometimes there was nothing. My best friend literally horizontally floated in front our eyes when we were around her in a circle (no alcohol or drugs had been taken). We never broke it so I wonder if this is the effect.

Anyway, fast forward. There was a spot sometime after that in my room that I always 'felt' something watching me at a certain time (roughly between 2-4am). Not particularly nice but never harmed me. Now, four years later, I live with DH, 2 kids and his grandmother temporarily and three dogs. There's always been a 'spot' (next to the bottom of the stairs) that I've had that same feeling of energy at night (once in the living room too). Again, never been touched. Since the beginning of this year, I've felt it in my room. Pretty much continuously on and off, more prominent at night (this room is a lot smaller and the spot is next to the door). Anyway, up until this point, it's all 'feelings'. However, last few weeks DD (3) has been waving out of the living room door into the hallway. I asked who she was waving to and she said 'the man' (DH was in the room too). I asked where he went, she said upstairs. DH went but obviously no-one was there. I keep seeing 'it' out of the corner of my eye but definitely there (one year old keeps smiling and waving at thin air and the dogs bark at the same time he does that). Then, last night, DH was downstairs as he couldn't sleep (this is about 4am now) and came up (I was awake giving one year old milk) and he asked if I was calling his name. I said no and he was really freaked out, said it was clear as day. He even woke his nan up and she said it wasn't her. I'm really scared, I don't know what to do or what it is. Has anyone had anything similar or got any advice? I promise I'm not making it up but if you're sceptical then please just leave it, I'm scared. TIA.

Try to get something videoed on your phone. I guarantee nothing will happen.

memblemumble · 30/04/2020 23:10

@AliceTeale you're probably right because A), I said I feel it and can feel where it is when 'it' is there, I can't see it and the dog thing I didn't expect and it frightened the life out of me. Googling what black dog ghosts meant didn't help.

Not exorcise you, your house. Exorcisms are not just done on people.

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 30/04/2020 23:23

I think as it's been harmless for many years you have nothing to worry about.

I think the current situation with the lockdown has unsettled it as you are probably spending more time at home. Try to not interact too much and just get on with doing normal stuff.

SerBrienneOfHouseTarth · 30/04/2020 23:36

My advice is try not to be scared, as there is likely a rational explanation for everything you are experiencing.

Years ago I had a number of strange and very scary experiences, too many to mention and similar to what you describe. I was also learning how to become a medium. But then I read the book Paranormality by Richard Wiseman (which I highly recommend) and learned that as @Plurabellicose says, there's pretty much a psychological, physiological or environmental explanation for all of it. The book gave examples of things that were the exact same as some of my paranormal experiences. Two decades on strange things still happen but I'm no longer scared as I know now it's not caused by spirits or ghosts. I've also never had an accurate spiritual reading since, funny that!

I genuinely believe you are safe and don't have anything to worry about but if it helps you then do what @priya38 said and state you want the spirit to leave.

frokenslinger · 30/04/2020 23:57

You don't have a dog? What happened to the three dogs you said you had in your first post? Were they ghosts too?

GreyGardens88 · 01/05/2020 08:27

I noticed that too frokenslinger, I think this is all BS

TheVanguardSix · 01/05/2020 08:46

Oh boom! They got you on the dogs, OP.

You need to polish up your story before you 'publish' it on MN (You want to write a thoroughly good freak-out story? Read the Savernake Forest story on MN. Now that, my friend, is a bloody good story which I actually believe ).

Get some sleep. You and your DH are seriously underslept.

Everythingmagnolia · 01/05/2020 09:00

If you are going to lie, at least remember what you have said previously Grin

ladymary86 · 01/05/2020 09:18

Anyone else wish there was a "bollocks" emoji?
OP you have THREE dogs? Remember???

Somethingselfdeprecating · 02/05/2020 12:14

Are you ok op?Flowers

P0lka · 02/05/2020 12:19

black dog on the bed (we don't have a dog) -- my, my, what a short memory you have!

FTstepmum · 02/05/2020 13:31

I wonder if the OP meant to say "We don't have a black dog"???

I feel inclined to believe her and I think she's been hounded off this thread out of ridicule.

Seems a bit odd that she would forget about having dogs, especially as she made a point of saying she had 3 dogs in the beginning.

stiffchain · 02/05/2020 14:00

She does seem to be "hounded" off this thread. Maybe her "bark" is worse than her bite?

priya38 · 02/05/2020 14:49

Meh! I thought she was being legit.

Even the other night after reading the post about the black dog, When i went upstairs a black nightie was on my bed and i nearly jumped out of my skin thinking it was a black dog lol.

memblemumble · 02/05/2020 15:59

I’ve not come back because after I realised I said I didn’t have a dog, I knew no-one would believe me and I’m dealing with enough. I did mean to put the word black in there but I must’ve missed it. Out of the three dogs, only one is ours (not really relevant). Anyway, I’ve been here for years and I’m sleep deprived but I did change a few minor details in my OP so that I wasn’t identifiable as I’ve posted on other threads unrelated to this, such as how many years ago it was since I did stupid things, ages of DC etc. If no-one is going to believe me then that’s fine, MNHQ can delete these threads and I’ll take the advice offered by some posters- thank you to those who offered such advice. Even during lockdown, I have better things to do than make up this and post it on MN. I’m genuinely scared, although as I’ve read through the thread, it’s possible of course that sleep-deprivation and fear have heightened it or played games with my mind, distorted my thinking etc. I do stand by the fact that I believe it to be true, I know my experiences were (if you don’t believe in that kind of stuff then that’s fine). Thanks again to the helpful replies.

And to the points about my children- no, I'm not giving them any issues. They're very young (pre pre school) and all I meant when referencing them is that sometimes they'll wave at thin air in the house and when asked, they'll say there's someone there. I've never mentioned any of this to them, not that they'd understand. HTH.

FTstepmum · 02/05/2020 16:39

Memble... I believe you; my instinct and previous experience tells me your fear is real.

Please go back to my first post on this thread and think about what I've suggested there.

If you feel you can believe those words, read them out when you're next scared.

Rooting for you here.
