Have you ever had your horse “read”

Springersrock · 27/05/2020 17:01

I don’t know if I’ve finally lost the plot or not, but I was talking to a friend at our yard last night.

She’s had her horse “read” recently by an “animal intuitive” and found some of the information she received quite helpful and it’s actually helped her address some of the issues she was having with him.

We don’t know anything about DD’s pony’s early life. We know that she was in a group of coloured cobs bought by a friend of a friend at a sale as they was destined for the meat lorry.

She has some pretty horrible scars and she is a nervous wee thing so I was quite interested in finding out a bit more about it

DH thinks I’m insane, so do I really, so I just wondered if anyone else had had anything like it done.

I’m curious

Yes, we have had a lady up for a few at our yard. She is amazing. Yes, some of what she said was a bit generic, but other things were just way too accurate to have been guessed (for example, one horse "told her" what one of his riders called him. It wasn't very complimentary but not a common phrase either!).
She explains what she is doing, what she feels and what the horse is saying.
She also does reiki (I've had success from another person with this, but have also had someone who was either rubbish at it or a fraud, who knows?!)
She only gets work through word of mouth, never advertises. I will be getting her back up for one of mine as soon as I can for a certain issue
I know a lot of people dismiss it, but this lady was just too spot on in too many cases

bluebluezoo · 27/05/2020 17:29

Hmm. I’m torn. On one hand it could be medium type woo, biggles post about knowing what the rider called the horse sounds like those cons where they can subtly get the information without the person realising.

That said, while I don’t believe people can “talk” to animals, i do think there are people who are more tuned to signs and signals given off..

For example friend of mine was struggling with her horse. Her riding instructor said he was obstinate and needed discipline, and she just needed to be tougher with him.

Then another girl from the yard got on him. Picked up very quickly that his refusal to do certain stuff was confusion- if he didn’t understand what was asked he panicked and just refused to do anything. The “tougher” you got the more scared he got.

Half an hour of very patient schooling, making aids very clear and stopping and repeating, with praise when he got it right- different horse.

This girl could pick up on pretty much any animal’s “vibe” quickly and knew how it needed to be treated...

thatsallineed · 27/05/2020 17:31

I used to know someone who did, once. Their horse was supposed to be a good jumper but started showing fear of jumping and nobody knew why.

The person came and did a sort of laying on of hands all over the horse, and diagnosed a problem somewhere deep in its neck which was causing pain when jumping, but didn't show up as any lameness or anything. I seem to remember they came a few times and eventually got the horse right again. Don't know how they did it though.

Springersrock · 27/05/2020 17:31

Thanks!

The lady at our yard had a remote reading where you just sent a photo

There’s loads of positive recommendations and testimonials for her

I’m really curious about it.

It’s £60 for a 45 minute phone call. DH thinks they saw me coming.

CrystalMaisie · 27/05/2020 17:33

Not me but a friend. Like @Biggles001 they told them specifics, one of which was he didn’t like being called a certain name (Same horse Biggles? Was the name initials GB?)

Destroyedpeople · 27/05/2020 17:34

Sorry I am with your dh on this one.
If there was some kind of 'laying on of hands' then maybe. From a photo? The woman is a charlatan.

Bufferingkisses · 27/05/2020 17:42

Not mine but I know of two that have been. 1 she gave some really helpful information about specifics such as likes and dislikes. Sticking to those really did seem to make the horse happier but it was nothing groundbreaking.

The 2nd was fascinating because the loaner got the horse read when the horse simply couldn't/wouldn't do the job it was intended to do. The reading made the loaner decide that the job was not fair on the horse as it caused her intense pain and she should be used for something else so returned her. The owner decided it was all nonsense and set out to prove them wrong. Sadly she had no luck either and things got worse and worse over a couple of years. Eventually the horse was diagnosed with a congenital defect that meant doing this job would have her in agony. The vet said they were lucky she hadn't killed someone. Anyway, owner finally concedes and horse is put to the new job and gets on fantastically. Treatment and correct work and she is absolutely fantastic. Not worth as much as she would gave been which,I suspect, was the owners motive.

I'm not sure if I believe or not tbh but it was made clear that the horse will only tell you what it wants you to know. It may not want to tell you about the things you are interested in.

Or it's nonsense 🤷‍♀️

Rosieposy4 · 27/05/2020 17:45

I’m totally with your DH on this one. The odd random likes or dislikes that are true are based on stalking your social media etc. Modern day con artist.

Biggles001 · 27/05/2020 18:00

I would be careful. Our lady charges less and her photo readings are even cheaper than her visits (these are a little too far out for me to believe though!!)
Normally I would completely be with you about the "communicator" picking up on stuff, and I would be the first to just roll my eyes, but some stuff just couldn't have been guessed (we volunteered no information at all). The name calling thing, for example. It was actually the owner's daughter who used this name, and the owner had no idea until she asked her a couple of hours later when she got home. Spooky.
But I totally agree there are a lot of charlatans out there that play with it too!

Destroyedpeople · 27/05/2020 18:07

My daughter used to work in the livery section of a rather welle known riding centre in the south east and she often tells me about the 'horse readers' that used to come round at vast expense and chat nonsense about the horses to their owners. I will contact her shortly and post here one of the crazier things they came out with.

Springersrock · 27/05/2020 20:31

Thanks all

See, I normally think this stuff is a load of old guff too, but it was really accurate

Friend is also pretty sceptical but was given a voucher as a gift from a friend last year so she thought why not

Friend isn’t on any social media, doesn’t compete so there’s no pics of her online or anything. She says she made a point of giving no information away. The communicator woman isn’t local or anything

It was spookily accurate - there was some general stuff, but she also picked up on a couple of specific, non-run-of-the-mill issues that friend has been having and suggested things which may help - and since have

My curiosity has been piqued

DH is taking the piss relentlessly Grin

ItsMischerWavy · 28/05/2020 07:47

Well I'm a sceptic over things but a lot of people kept mentioning a particular lady and how amazing she was so I decided to test her out in 2 of my rescues, a friend had her horses done at the same time. I told the communicator nothing except my horses name and purposefully didn't add her on social media - I also have no public info on social media.

The woman was incredible! She picked up on things that she couldn't possibly know about my horse - some of which I knew and some I didn't. Watching her work with my horse was fantastic.

puppymouse · 28/05/2020 08:01

I don't know how they do it and who's genuine and who isn't but I have had a very bizarre but accurate distance reading from a communicator after she was bang on with three or four friends' horses.

It might all be bobbins but it's information you can take or leave and if this woman was just guessing generic stuff it was pretty odd stuff to choose and very coincidental. My DH also rips the piss and says it's all nonsense.

bluebluezoo · 28/05/2020 11:00

It’s £60 for a 45 minute phone call. DH thinks they saw me coming

I agree.

There’s people who swear mediums are “spookily accurate” too. It’s clever confidence tricks. My mum used to go to mediums and they always knew things they couldn’t possibly have known...

Springersrock · 28/05/2020 11:08

It is weird, but the communicator was pretty bang on. I dunno

One of the issues that my friend had was that her horse wouldn’t drink in the stable. He’d drink out of the trough in his field, he’d drink if you held a smaller bucket for him, but just wouldn’t drink out of his bucket in the stable. She tried different buckets and stuff like that, but he wasn’t having any of it

The communicator told my friend that her horse didn’t like where the bucket was in the stable (at the front, in the corner) as the horse next door kicked the stable door a lot and it worried him.

Moved the bucket to the other side of the stable - her horse now happily drinks from it.

She’d never mentioned the drinking issue, never mentioned the lay out of the stable or anything.

I’d have scoffed at the idea of reading a horse from a photo normally, but it’s just bizarre.

ItsMischerWavy · 29/05/2020 07:01

When the lady read my big girl she told me things there was no way she could possibly have known. It was so odd. She told me about traits of her rather odd personality that she couldn't witness herself as she insists on not seeing the horse interacting with the owner where possible. She told me how my horse had been tethered and hobbled and so much more, it blew my mind. I really was a sceptic too.

As a bit of background, I rescued her from a pikey site (for want of a better word) 100 miles away from where I live. None of this is on social media or anything and I only told the lady her name and how long I'd had her..... That was it. My horse isn't your average type that would come from somewhere like that and you'd have no reason to think she did. What she said rang very true with what I knew about her and also with some of the issues I'd already rehabbed her from. It was truly amazing!

Twooter · 29/05/2020 07:14

I know of a couple of people who have done this. Both were really sensible, non-woo people, and both were really embarrassed about telling me. One told of pain on the horse at a certain site - it was at the time being treated for a slight lameness in a different area, but it did turn out that the problem was where ‘the horse said’. They were also told dislikes about the stable that the owner hadn’t known about, but afterwards appeared true.
The second was similar - horse with chronic pain, they were told which treatments the horse found beneficial, plus other bits and pieces, mostly specific and not easy to guess.

Springersrock · 29/05/2020 11:03

Do you know what, I’m going to do it.

I’ll report back and you can all take the piss Grin

I was talking to a different friend yesterday and she’s used the same communicator and, again, they told her stuff that was totally accurate.

We don’t have any particular issues, other than pony can be a little bit spooky and nervous. It took so long for her to trust us.

I’d just like to know if she’s OK

OP posts:
ItsMischerWavy · 29/05/2020 12:32

Oooooh do report back..... You're not in the south east at all are you?? Wondering if its the same person!
