I am REALLY glad that I am not an Olympic cross country rider!

Greenwich course looks terrifying! The castle shaped jump in the sand arena is exactly the same colour as the surface. That has to be a serious challenge for the horse! And there are a couple, the moo. Jump for one, where they are jumping into the unknown!

I would absolutely love to ride that course, it looks amazing. I would take all of the easy options though! Nicola's round was pretty awesome wasn't it?

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 30/07/2012 13:55

You are BONKERS! Confused

lalalala Not listening. Am at work and planning to watch later.

Callisto · 30/07/2012 13:57

I always want to ride in a point-to-point when I'm watching too!!

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 30/07/2012 13:59

To my uneducated eyes it looks like a really beautifully designed course. Was privileged enough to walk it yesterday.

Kellamity · 30/07/2012 14:01

Oh my life I wouldn't want to ride that! My horse jumped over a puddle while doing the Selkirk Common Riding and I nearly fell off! Grin

Callisto · 30/07/2012 14:01

I think it looks well designed too and very beautiful. In fact, the olympics so far have been a superb tourist advert for London and the rest of the country - I had no idea London was quite so beautiful!

Kellamity · 30/07/2012 14:02

It is a beautiful course, very impressive. I love the different jumps representing different parts of London.

Callisto · 30/07/2012 14:10

Lets all pray that Mary King has a great round and isn't affected by the delay.

BlueChampagne · 30/07/2012 14:19

God no - especially the big drop and the star fence with the awkward approach. Beautiful course though - lovely to see the observatory being used as inspiration, and touches of humour as well.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 30/07/2012 14:36

I'm loving the Japanese rider. He's using his head, keeping off the slippery track, planning his route!

Takayuki Yumira. He's doing well too!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 30/07/2012 14:44

Bollocks! He's off! Mary king next!

Worried about Latina - gorgeous mare and then the green screens came out Sad.

Can't believe Mary has been stopped, lets hope it doesn't affect her round.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 30/07/2012 14:57

HOW THE FUCK is Mary King still aboard! She must have her arse stapled to the saddle! she is all over the place!! Shock
Latina was up and moving, she looked ok! But she did take one hell of a tumble! Her face was crushed into the floor! Her neck must have taken a hell of a lot of force! Sad

Sorry to hijack but does anyone know what happened to the horse that fell, vets went over and then screened the horse. DS keeps asking...

Callisto · 30/07/2012 15:03

I know, my heart was in my mouth for her on several occasions. Imperial Cavalier looks a tricky ride to say the least, I don't like horses that chuck their heads in the air just as you get to a fence.

Hope and pray Latina is ok. That was a bad fall.

BlueChampagne · 30/07/2012 15:07

Going back to opening post - I'd have a crack at the dressage test (and score very badly)!

Well done Mary; can't believe this is the same horse that looked so gorgeous in the dressage arena on Saturday! Good job there are no points for style in x-country.

Hope Latina is OK.

Callisto · 30/07/2012 15:07

Team GB in the lead after all second riders gone!!!!!!

Callisto · 30/07/2012 15:09

Shelly - ime no news is bad news at these things. The commentators have ignored it and it was a long delay. An ambulance came and picked up an earlier faller but there was no green screen that time. Very sad, and I have to say that the rider rode that fence very badly - I could see him yanking her mouth Sad

shelley72 · 30/07/2012 15:21

Oh no Sad. DS has only just started going to a pony club and having a go on shetland so wanted to watch the horses today. I know nothing about any of it, just trying to answer questions as best I can, though I think gb are doing well?. Looks rather dangerous, hope he never progresses to jumping!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 30/07/2012 15:23

Latina was up and walking. The rider was up and walking. I'm sure they are ok. he was soon so well! [sad[

Shelley, dd had a jumping lesson with a posh instructor which we filmed. She fell off! She plays it back regularly in slow motion! I'm sure your little one will love it!

shelley72 · 30/07/2012 15:35

ooh no. like i say he is only on a shetland (and being led round) but his second or third lesson they put him on a big pony and at the end of the lesson something spooked the horse and DS fell off, getting stuck in the stirrups. he was just hanging there Shock. makes my stomach turn every time i think of it. yet he still wants to go.

i have always been really scared of horses and i look at all those riding when he is having his lesson and i feel quite jealous that i cant do it!

Callisto · 30/07/2012 15:38

Did the stirrups have black rubber bands on one side like this: www.hisltd.co.uk/Korsteel-4in-Peacock-Irons.html? If so his feet should have pinged the rubbers off and slid out of the stirrup. If not, insist on safety irons in future. DD doesn't ride unless she has safety irons, To me they are as important as riding with a hat.
