HOD issues

My HOD is micromanaging me, checking up on me, moan that I'm destroying consistency of teaching because I used a slightly different resource with my class, but then after agreeing an approach with a particular lesson, she allowed her class to something different in a lesson to me! She is also a terrible snob, thinks PP students should not have an automatic right to funding to support their studies because most of them are playing the system and don't need the help really. She also insists that I ask students for money towards resources, which I'm not comfortable doing as we should not be charging for education. There is a conflict of interest with her line manager who is also her husband. Work that I was enjoying, after time out of the classroom is now becoming a chore. Oh and also another member of staff is feeding back info about my lessons to her like a spy. Ahhhhhh! Thanks for listening

We're just giving this thread a bump for the OP in case anyone's around with some advice.

That certainly doesn't sound good and she doesn't sound like a very good HoD. In terms of lessons, does your school have a very prescriptive way of doing things? Some do and it may be the school policy. In which case, if you can grin and bear it, fine, if not, personally, I would move.

Is there anyone else on the senior team you can talk to?

Ultimately, I would consider if you want to stay there or move elsewhere.

Thanks for advice. I am going to move but I need to grin and bear it for now. Decided to work to rule and put pressure on HOD to properly induct me/give me all the resources she wants me to use. Is a shame because she has lost a proactive dedicated teacher prepared to go the extra mile. I can't work with someone who does not respect my professional opinion or trust my judgement.
