Will post this on the end of the other thread too but I have just found this:

If you are identified as a contact and asked to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace, including by the NHS COVID-19 app you may be entitled to a payment of £500 from your local authority under the Test and Trace Support Payment scheme. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has been told to self-isolate you may also be entitled to this payment.

^Presumably that is all of the 'thought' that has gone into the situation I've been talking about. Still doesn't tell us if we would be seen as taking unauthorised leave or able to work from home or anything - need union specific advice on that.

@noblegiraffe

Oh that makes sense now. The idea of bringing back KS3 SATs is because current Y7 and 8 didn’t sit KS2 SATs and they need some data so they can do progress 8 and league tables.
If that is the reason then the most sensible thing to do as a school is basically ignore them and teach as normal to KS3. Then let the children sit them and do however well they do without preparation. Wait 2 years and get amazing progress 8 scores.
phlebasconsidered · 03/10/2021 07:10

I sent up data for the past 2 years to our secondaries. They don't usually use the sats data anyway- test them with either nts or puma/pira/cats.

I just got a positive lft. Pcr booked for me. I am a bit wheezy and snotty but put it down to most of year 6 having "colds".

Piggywaspushed · 03/10/2021 07:13

Oh no! Good luck phleb. So many of us now!

motherrunner · 03/10/2021 07:50

Oh no @phlebasconsidered. It just seems inevitable now.

Has this been reported widely?

DanglingMod · 03/10/2021 08:09

14% of teens have had the vaccine in Scotland. Loads higher than England. I'd heard absolutely nothing locally was happening at all and then just found out our day to have it delivered in school is the last day of half term. They'll all have had Covid by then at the rate it's spreading.

Piggywaspushed · 03/10/2021 08:15

Schools that are jabbing are totally overwhelmed. The teams have one day to do it. We managed about 300 students. No one has any idea when they will come back to do the rest - or the flu jabs which were postponed.

Piggywaspushed · 03/10/2021 08:17

It has been reported mother. No one seems to care much...

And that's ONS . Huge numbers of this 1 in 20 are circulating in communities because they 'just have a cold'.

Well the world would truly stop turning if we didn’t sort out the league tables.

Do your schools make the year 7s sit CAT tests when they first arrive? Are they more useful than SATs?

DanglingMod · 03/10/2021 08:31

In the sense that they sort of measure raw ability, kind of. You can see some children have underperformed at primary which is helpful. Usually owing to behaviour.

In the sense that I watched one class sit theirs and several kids didn't even try but clicked through all the questions so they could sit and read, not at all.

In the sense that (if attempted properly) they can demonstrate spiky cognitive profiles for some children which can help specifically with SEND diagnoses and generally with teaching approaches, yes.

But it's progress from SATs to GCSEs we're judged on.

Yes and yes! Grin

I’m not sure there are many heads that welcomed Ofsted’s ‘constructive role’ over the pandemic, Kate.

Ah.
For some reason my phone attached more photos than I intended, and even though I though I deleted them before posting it’s posted them!!!

JanglyBeads · 03/10/2021 10:12

To repost what I tried earlier
A ‘clue’ to what’s going to happen with LFTs - in future you’ll need a Collect Code (from 119/online) to get them from a pharmacy, according to a NHS flier received by someone on Parents United with their prescriptions.

Iamnotthe1 · 03/10/2021 10:31

If they want to use KS3 SAT papers for the purpose of progress scores at GCSE then a bunch of secondaries are going to look amazing given how KS3 are sometimes ignored and everything goes into KS4. Loads of progress will be made.

I wonder whether they will compare the KS3 scores to the last data they had for those pupils from KS1. That would look a lot less favourable.

borntobequiet · 03/10/2021 10:42

I think I remember comparing KS2 and KS3 Maths SATs papers many years ago and thinking that in comparison the KS2 version seemed way more difficult. They were certainly very different in tone and format. But I may be misremembering.

DreamingofBrie · 03/10/2021 10:49

Oh no, phlebasconsidered, I hope you're not too badly affected.

JanglyBeads · 03/10/2021 10:54

We do CATS.
Hope you’re OK phleb.

MsAwesomeDragon · 03/10/2021 11:29

I hope you stay relatively well phleb. A mild case can feel just like a cold (or it could feel really awful like mine).

I'm feeling much better and went back to school on Thursday. My form cheered when I walked in, which was nice.

JanglyBeads · 03/10/2021 11:41

Ah that’s nice MsAD!

AttaGirrrrl · 03/10/2021 13:14

How long were you off @MsAwesomeDragon?

I’m not sure I’m going to be well enough after my ten days. Do you know if we just self cert or if I’ll need a doctor’s note?

MrsHamlet · 03/10/2021 13:33

Our head sent a colleague home on Friday. It was her first post covid day and there was no way she was ready

noblegiraffe · 03/10/2021 13:41

Don't rush back. We had staff who rushed back and had to go off again.

CallmeHendricks · 03/10/2021 14:53

So we're nearing the end of this thread. Are we going to upgrade to a spa?

noblegiraffe · 03/10/2021 14:54

Are you going to upgrade us to a spa then, Ange?

Or at least a hot tub. Wink
