Will post this on the end of the other thread too but I have just found this:

If you are identified as a contact and asked to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace, including by the NHS COVID-19 app you may be entitled to a payment of £500 from your local authority under the Test and Trace Support Payment scheme. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has been told to self-isolate you may also be entitled to this payment.

^Presumably that is all of the 'thought' that has gone into the situation I've been talking about. Still doesn't tell us if we would be seen as taking unauthorised leave or able to work from home or anything - need union specific advice on that.

We have a whole netball team out. They had a sleepover....

13luckyblackcats · 28/09/2021 19:17

Had a rough day, covered in cuts and bruises. Need to give myself a pep talk for tomorrow!

LolaSmiles · 28/09/2021 19:21

Checking back into the cupboard. It's been a while and life has been a bit up and down for me offline.

Is my mug still in the cupboard? Brew

JanglyBeads · 28/09/2021 19:30

Your mug will always be in the cupboard Lola, even if it gets pushed a little towards the back. Is life any easier now?

13, what happened to you today then?!

13luckyblackcats · 28/09/2021 19:45

SEN school @JanglyBeads not a great day overall. Still, wouldn't want to be anywhere else!

MrsHamlet · 28/09/2021 20:00

@LolaSmiles - I bought some emergency cookies today so please help yourself. Every day is an emergency at the moment!

That is a rough day 13 hope tomorrow is better for you.

BitterTits · 28/09/2021 20:13

Just popped in to ask, of schools with lots of cases back in masks, how far do the kids comply? This is our situation, and while I'm slogging away in a mask to protect them, most of them don't and there's really nothing I can do (according to mixed messages from SLT). So fucking sick of this.

MrsHamlet · 28/09/2021 20:22

We're seeing more kids wearing them now than a week ago. Interestingly, they're talking a lot about being vaccinated. Many of them are keen.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 28/09/2021 21:06

I've got kids in my primary classroom wearing them - some of the ill ones. Classroom sounds like a TB ward again.

JanglyBeads · 28/09/2021 23:51

Take care 13. You and your colleagues do wonderful things.

DreamingofBrie · 29/09/2021 00:11

Cake and Brew for Lola and 13. I hope tomorrow is better for you.

I'm not quite sure how to handle Bob in my A level class. He does everything in his own time, which is irritating when I'm trying to start a lesson and he's walking around the classroom, but if I told him to leave and come back in when he was ready to learn, I can imagine he would kick off, wasting more of everyone's time.

noblegiraffe · 29/09/2021 00:17

Fight that battle now, Brie, or you'll be fighting it all year.

DreamingofBrie · 29/09/2021 00:29

It's a difficult class. I know I need to stamp on this but in such a way that Bob doesn't disengage from the lessons (therefore causing more trouble). Thought that being kind and considerate might work but now doubting. Bob is unpredictable - sometimes he's great and sometimes he's not. Really I just want to put all of the ones who think they're too good for the class in the back corner, and get on with teaching those who actually want to learn.

Last day of petrol today. Unless delivered overnight, my town has run dry. And the adjacent town. Wonder how bad our cover board will be today if others are in the same position.

twinkletoesimnot · 29/09/2021 06:27

Same here Denby. 😬

twinkletoesimnot · 29/09/2021 06:28

Trouble is, if there is a delivery today then it'll be gone before I can get to get any

Piggywaspushed · 29/09/2021 06:41

Boris says it's all fiiiiiiiine.

DanglingMod · 29/09/2021 07:01

Yes, ironic, that the people who need it the most for work will be at work and unable to get it (except se/tradespeople of course. I don't begrudge them being able to refuel!)

Apparently there was an Essential Workers list in the 2000 fuel crisis. Wonder who was on it?

Teachers were. I remember showing my DfE certificate at a petrol station.
motherrunner · 29/09/2021 07:18

When I was a NQT and a baby 😊

I remember queuing for petrol in August 2000, I was working at the Cup a Soup factory in Kent. Not essential!
