Will post this on the end of the other thread too but I have just found this:

If you are identified as a contact and asked to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace, including by the NHS COVID-19 app you may be entitled to a payment of £500 from your local authority under the Test and Trace Support Payment scheme. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has been told to self-isolate you may also be entitled to this payment.

^Presumably that is all of the 'thought' that has gone into the situation I've been talking about. Still doesn't tell us if we would be seen as taking unauthorised leave or able to work from home or anything - need union specific advice on that.

My boss never gets the guilt but he's a twit.
The rest of us, yes. Teacher guilt is real.

DenbyChina · 21/09/2021 17:08

Do all teachers get the guilt?

Yep. Have repeatedly checked my email today. Not seeing any major issues 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Waiting to see results of my PCR. DP has had a notification today to SI unless vaccinated due to another exposure over the weekend. Surely that is part of the problem here? It doesn’t feel logical.

Saucery · 21/09/2021 17:24

@Fenelladepompom

Love that Zahawi says there are more pupils in school now than at this time last year because of all our hard work. Nothing to do with the change in the isolation rules then?
That’s just completely meaningless, isn’t it? The amount of work put in by teachers has not increased pupil numbers. We have several CEV children off, in fact, because their parents no longer feel they are safe in school as so many cases and “colds”. You can physically track Covid round the table groups ffs.
noblegiraffe · 21/09/2021 17:40

I can't be working very hard then because kids in my classes are off with covid. Slack.

ChloeDecker · 21/09/2021 18:04

I swear the DforE social media account is just one big trolling parody account. They can’t truly be serious that 91% is something to sing about!? 1 in 10 not in school. That’s a shocking statistic. That guardian article proves that the DforE recklessness is causing harm Angry

DanglingMod · 21/09/2021 18:10

Sooooooooo much illness in school today. It cannot be normal autumn bugs that we've lost our immunity to in one season. I don't think the immune system works like that (and we've been largely as normal in school for 18 months anyway!)

JanglyBeads · 21/09/2021 18:47

Noble has found this explanation which suggests neg PCR should NOT overrule pos LFT:

Weird I keep going to Post and my message gets truncated.

Wanted to say take care to Squashed and ask if she feels vindicated now.

Someone said to me today that her dd was off feeling awful “but we’ve tested and tested and it’s not covid”

Beachhuts90 · 21/09/2021 19:38

Can you tell me about Ofsted visits please? When do you get the call, what is it like at school that evening (what are you doing and how late did you stay?), what the general vibe is when they're here? Do they wander into your classroom etc?

It isn't this week but I want to be prepared when it does happen.

MrsHamlet · 21/09/2021 19:48

They call the day before.
Last time, we were all chased out at 7pm.
All photocopying limits and printing limits were cancelled, and the it techs were in at 8 with the teachers (normally 9!!)
Yes they wander. Smile abd carry on until a good point to stop and involve them

Hercisback · 21/09/2021 19:48

@Beachhuts90

As 'just' a classroom teacher, your focus is making your lessons decent. Don't change them hugely or do anything crazy. Just make sure they are the best of you.

Also make sure you have marked books to within school policy. This should obviously be happening anyway (unless your marking policy is insane).

SLT/HODs often stay to make sure all paperwork is in line. Tbh most of it should be ready anyway.

Inspectors can walk into any lesson at any time.

Pre-Covid, 2018 I think, we got the call 12pm for them to come in next day (I haven’t done a shorter deep dive one yet) and stay for 2 days. Queue IT support having to be on it to make sure the school network could handle every single member of staff logging in until the small hours (mixture of who stays and who goes home). Vibe is all a bit shit really. Yep, they just wonder into your classroom-sometimes more than one lesson but I only got seen once last time, some not at all.

Main lesson I have learnt since having about 6 or 7 (including the old week long ones) is that nothing you do as a classroom teacher will make a blind bit of difference. Ofsted will already have come in with their pre-conceived judgement based on many things out of your control. At least you don’t get individual lesson judgements from them anymore. Just get through it I say. Sod ‘em.

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 21/09/2021 20:13

@JanglyBeads feeling very vindicated but still itching to know exactly what is going on. I always get sucked in by puzzles that involve science and maths data. Will be very interesting to find out dh's next result that is being processed by the 'south' lab.

Beachhuts90 · 21/09/2021 20:22

Thank you everyone, I have been building it up in my head to be the Spanish inquisition and it seems like it's just annoying but fine!

Whew, luckily I don't think there's anything mentioned that I am not on top of every day. I'm KS1 so marking is often live, always short. Prep is something else but that's okay too.

Our head wanders so hopefully it won't be too different to that. Do they go around with SLT or on their own?

My husband, who was a bit of a Bob in school for a few years, was once questioned by Ofsted in school. I imagine his teachers had a large drink that night Grin

Hercisback · 21/09/2021 20:30

They can ask loads of questions, particularly of subject leads (and if they "deep dive" your specialism).

I try to remember they aren't trying to catch people out. They want you to be successful (on the whole).

noblegiraffe · 21/09/2021 20:41

Make sure you know who your safeguarding lead is, because they might spring that one on you...

After the first day the head will probably send around some feedback about how it's going saying things like 'we've been pulled up on x so make sure you x the hell out of your lessons tomorrow'.

MrsHamlet · 21/09/2021 20:47

And the DSL.

MrsHamlet · 21/09/2021 20:47

That should say that deputy DSL

borntobequiet · 21/09/2021 21:11

My husband, who was a bit of a Bob in school for a few years, was once questioned by Ofsted in school.

One of my Bobs said “Fuck” very loudly in a lesson with an Ofsted inspector in. Everyone else was working silently…

MrsHamlet · 21/09/2021 21:15

Today a Bob said "oh bollocks" because he messed something up. Somehow this turned into a screaming match down the corridor. My Bob asked if we could shut the door because he was trying to concentrate 😂

borntobequiet · 21/09/2021 21:22

My Bob asked if we could shut the door because he was trying to concentrate

This is why we like them

MrsHamlet · 21/09/2021 21:30

I laughed. Poor Bob 😂

Hercisback · 21/09/2021 21:38

I love Bob.

Bobette told me today that she couldn't see properly behind her eyelashes because the glue was wonky. Then asked me. "how much over 40 are you?". Those of you that have met me will understand!

noblegiraffe · 21/09/2021 21:42

Over 40? The correct question is 'Are you even over 20?'.

Beachhuts90 · 21/09/2021 21:42

Ohhh, some excellent Bob stories Grin
