You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

You can sit on chairs but keep the windows open. You don’t have to upload LFT results during the holidays. You do not have to wear mask - free choice

Yay @JanFebAnyMonth!

Back home now. Showered and lying on sofa. Love camping but in this heat it’s hard to find decent shade to rest.

TheHoneyBadger · 19/07/2021 12:58

What I've struggled with with camping in the past has been the 4am sun beaming at you seemingly magnified by a sheet of plastic making you feel like you're an ant under a magnifying glass in the hands of a sadistic kid and everyone sleeping blissfully through it.

In a house you could go downstairs, make a cup of coffee, curl up on the sofa downstairs with the curtains drawn etc. In a tent it's like????????? Now fucking what?

welcome home Mother.

DenbyChina · 19/07/2021 13:00

Pop!

House party at the weekend has just sent the entirety of a year group home. Happy freedom day!

Piggywaspushed · 19/07/2021 13:13

How, though? No contact tracing any more?

DenbyChina · 19/07/2021 13:27

Not sure. Maybe SLT decision? Doubt parents are thrilled.
motherrunner · 19/07/2021 13:29

Not a surprise there @Piggywaspushed.

motherrunner · 19/07/2021 13:34

He’s still going on about mobile phones and now serials about ‘removal rooms’ and ‘managed moves’ are also out for consultation.

TheHoneyBadger · 19/07/2021 13:37

Still on about mobiles. We've not allowed them to be seen without being confiscated during the school day for nearly 2 years now ffs. Maybe he'll tell us about how seating plans can improve behaviour next Hmm

motherrunner · 19/07/2021 13:38

I’m going to round up all the Bobs and manage move them to his office.

TheHoneyBadger · 19/07/2021 13:45

Honestly I'd rather sit in a room full of Bobs and address the actual issues than have one Bob per class. God forbid anyone with actual training and experience gets their hands on these issues though - fuck we might have to actually pay them for it or give them more nct.

JanFebAnyMonth · 19/07/2021 13:45

I think the nightclubbers are going to need a school trip areound parliament in sept

MrsHerculePoirot · 19/07/2021 14:33

Thanks @TheHoneyBadger. I think it’s more DD doesn’t know how to socialise with her peers and feels overwhelmed by it all. She’s so good with adults and one on one I think I just assumed she’d be fine. She’s told me she worries about friends, having enough, being liked, fitting in and that it’s just all stressful. In her class they’ve now been together since reception, some before that, so it s hard. I think starting Y7, with me helping her, hopefully will be better as everyone to some extent is starting afresh. I’d still like her to speak to someone professional, just in general about things. Her headteacher told me he now has grown up children but that this age is the hardest which was nice of him - even if not true it was what I needed to hear 🤣 thanks again for letting me spill it out here, I’ve really appreciated it.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 19/07/2021 14:49

We’re celebrating freedom day by declaring alert level 4 (black) again and discharging as many patients as possible.

Thanks Boris.

Piggywaspushed · 19/07/2021 15:07

I really really really don't get the anti lockdown protest today.

Besides, don't these people work? Shouldn't they all be joyfully back at work, unmasked, and in shops and on trains, licking people?

motherrunner · 19/07/2021 15:14

No @Piggywaspushed, they’re like my WFH neighbours who like to party with their close friends in the garden, have their shopping delivered but want their kids out their faces.

DanglingMod · 19/07/2021 16:42

I think.contract tracing and bubble closures still counts today and probably tomorrow because it's only for cases that start today, but people who tested positive or started symptoms over weekend count under the old rules.

PumpkinPie2016 · 19/07/2021 16:46

Thanks staff

Checking in as I wasn't on yesterday.

Today has been exhausting! Kids hyper, needed to do a proper lesson with Y10 as I had to finish the topic but it just felt so hard.

Plus, I have been melting all day 🥵

1.5 days left!

noblegiraffe · 19/07/2021 16:49

Or more likely no one knows what's going on and people are just making it up in the absence of actual clear guidance.
noblegiraffe · 19/07/2021 16:55

Ange you were asking about covid absence data....the DfE aren't collecting it for the end of term.

www.tes.com/news/schools-not-asked-weeks-covid-attendance-data

Why would they not want a complete data set? Because they know it's going to be horrendous.

JanFebAnyMonth · 19/07/2021 17:56

The little shites

JanFebAnyMonth · 19/07/2021 17:59

Sorry.

That was my only possible response to the news re attendance figures.

noblegiraffe · 19/07/2021 18:03

OMG Jan you are speaking more freely! Shock

(Love it!)
