You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

You can sit on chairs but keep the windows open. You don’t have to upload LFT results during the holidays. You do not have to wear mask - free choice

Kids with coughs most likely don't have covid anyway. I've stopped worrying about coughing kids, particularly in hayfever season!

TheHoneyBadger · 21/07/2021 12:36

Daytime drinking is a great mitigation for covid anxiety.

Not sure my liver will agree.

TheHoneyBadger · 21/07/2021 12:36

I'd actually be interested to see graphs showing alcohol sales over the course of the pandemic including lockdowns etc.

Piggywaspushed · 21/07/2021 12:37

I agree that's what it means but it is very very convoluted in its wording (deliberately?)and is a complete non sequitur in terms on reasons for and against vaccination. It is like they are saying the only reason to vaccinate them was to keep them in school.

noblegiraffe · 21/07/2021 12:45

Yes, I agree it was worded weirdly, probably deliberately. I think that is a Dingwall paragraph as he has been arguing for a removal of all restrictions all along.

PumpkinPie2016 · 21/07/2021 12:55

And.......breathe!

Finished for summer Glitterball

So relieved!

Will not be doing or thinking about school for the next 5 weeks. May do a bit of 1st week prep.in the last few days!

Hope those who have finished or are doing today enjoy.

To those finishing Fri -not long! Almost there!₩

borntobequiet · 21/07/2021 13:34

That paragraph makes no sense whatsoever when read in the context of reality.

Piggywaspushed · 21/07/2021 13:44

That slogan sounds like something the NHS would come up with to encourage the elderly to exercise.

I have an S Club soundtrack to accompany a cheesy ad going round in my head now.

noblegiraffe · 21/07/2021 13:51

I'm not sure it's any worse than 'Stay Alert'.

motherrunner · 21/07/2021 13:52

It doesn’t even make sense. Life is constantly moving.

motherrunner · 21/07/2021 13:54

Apparently “ It emphasises the need to continue to progress cautiously as we come out into this next step."

Totally got that.

noblegiraffe · 21/07/2021 13:59

People who are paid actual money had actual meetings and came up with that.

Piggywaspushed · 21/07/2021 14:04

Michael Rosen's latest poem :

O let's do away with the oldies
They take up too much space.
And who wants to be with an oldie
and look at their wrinkly face?

O let's do away with the oldies
O let's push them out of the door.
It's the rational thing to do
they're not productive any more.

MsAwesomeDragon · 21/07/2021 14:26

That poem does seem to represent what the current covid policy is, doesn't it.

In other news, I'm glad I'm on holiday now as I was at home to notice the leak in the bathroom. Apparently, according to the plumber, the toilet is "buggered". He's fixed the immediate problem but there is a small additional leak that needs the whole toilet to be replaced. And he looked at the rest of the bathroom and suggested that if it was all put in by the same person (it was, the previous owners did it themselves) then the whole bathroom should be replaced. As a matter of urgency. The toilet might last til October, but try to replace it earlier if possible, and keep putting towels down Sad. So I'm bathroom shopping this afternoon, lucky me. And he wasn't just saying that to get me to pay him more because he wouldn't be able to fit us in til May, he doesn't know anyone with availability either. Such fun!!

Piggywaspushed · 21/07/2021 14:56

Well, I had a power cut rendering all my equipment unusable so I don't think I should come to work tomorrow...

noblegiraffe · 21/07/2021 15:01

FREEDOM: The PM, Chancellor, Health Secretary and now Leader of the Opposition are isolating.

Frlrlrubert · 21/07/2021 15:08

Done! I got used for cover with a lively year 10 group for my final period, cheers!

New school seem about the same amount of disorganised as the current one. I'm timetabled to teach one lesson a fortnight of year 10 RE, in my lab so at least I don't have to move. No other info yet.

PumpkinPie2016 · 21/07/2021 15:33

Oh dear @MsAwesomeDragon bathroom leaks are not good!

@Piggywaspushed nightmare!

HSHorror · 21/07/2021 16:04

my verson

'Oh lets not worry about the young'uns they are unlikely to die.
They pay no tax are too little to vote so who gives a crap!
Let's not worry that they have long lives ahead which with poor health they might pay.
We wont bother to vaccinate them,?to protect both young and old, because- well i cannot say.

There's certainly some corruption going on for sure.
There'll be no herd immunity for us so deaths and long covid it'll be.
Just dont look over here or there and see well absolutely any other country.

By September time it will be absolutely fine.
So there'll be not one measure at all.
The parents and kids will whine. When they realise it's not actually all over.
With covid in every classroom'

Piggywaspushed · 21/07/2021 16:16

Oh but don't forget the word forced. Keir has been forced according to the BBC.

13luckyblackcats · 21/07/2021 16:20

I am done. What a training year. Y6 bubble popped this morning, poor things. Unofficial prom still going ahead, apparently.

Piggywaspushed · 21/07/2021 16:22

I see we have a new day of people starting threads about schools and biting bullets ( the new suck it up!) just as term ends ? Hmmmmm....

noblegiraffe · 21/07/2021 16:23

They are all getting thoroughly behind the JCVI report about letting positive kids come to school to help the poor.

WarriorN · 21/07/2021 16:26

Congratulations those who've finished! 🥳

Went in and melted trying to cost up resources for next year; I'm fucked on the shrinking budget I've been given.

No one wearing masks at all in the building. I'd forgotten mine 😬 though I've been wearing it in shops.
