You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Do you know which exam board you use for it please?

Hercwasonaroll · 20/10/2020 12:52

Mrs HP if you follow the hastag coremathschat on twitter there's loads of info there.

Loshad · 20/10/2020 14:08

Not a maths teacher but we teach it at my school. At one stage we insisted all science students who weren’t doing A level maths did it, but have dropped that requirement now.

Frlrlrubert · 20/10/2020 16:17

Tempers are fraying here too. Year 7 are off the walls (like a bunch of overtired toddlers) and I've honestly had enough of my bottom set 11s. Why should I even try if they can't be quiet long enough for me to explain the work. Awful behaviour, mob mentality and I can't put them ALL in time out.

RigaBalsam · 20/10/2020 16:22

We have had kids come back for a day yesterday only to isolate again today. So that's more weeks lost. Makes me angry it really does that nobody seems to care about this as long as their own kids are in school.

My 80 year old neighbour is in hospital with covid. His wife said she can't think where he has been. It could be from anywhere but all they can think is its from his now isolating grandaughter who goes to my school. Guess we can never know for sure.

Twits for them can FO am so angry. They lack brain capacity.

Not in a good mood today. Struggling!

Mistressiggi · 20/10/2020 16:35

There's a parent on "that" site on Facebook annoyed that someone dobbed them in for not quarantining after a holiday abroad in half term. For.Goodness.Sake.

MsAwesomeDragon · 20/10/2020 17:02

MrsHP we use AQA. They seem ok as far as I can tell. As I said, I don't teach it, but the people who do teach it like it. One of the teachers who does it follows #coremathschat and gets loads of good ideas from there.

Keepdistance · 20/10/2020 17:04

There are lots if people on brtus saying other parents have sent kids in while
Parents ill
Parents waiting for tests
Parents with positive test results
Even children with positive result

Saucery · 20/10/2020 17:33

Surprise surprise, it is exactly the parents you would expect who have ignored the request to wear masks when collecting their dc and not to stand chatting to their friends on the pavements outside.
I put my mask on to get to my car today. I really hope one of them gets all arsey about staff wearing masks so the Head can tell them I only wear it to get past the little bottlenecks they create while gassing to their mates.

Hercwasonaroll · 20/10/2020 18:01

Nursery bubble shut, half term is going to be fun for me.

Flagsfiend · 20/10/2020 18:20

I think we have about 20 positive cases, some students are isolating again as close contacts having been back for only a few days. It's complete madness. Still apparently not spreading in school though :(

SaltyAndFresh · 20/10/2020 18:21

So many cases in several year groups now. I'm supposed to be relying on GPs for childcare this week because my DC's school is shut, but absolutely can't when I know I've been face to face with lots of pupils who are now SI. I've sent an arsey email I'm afraid.

MrsHerculePoirot · 20/10/2020 18:30

Thanks all the core maths info!

TheHoneyBadger · 20/10/2020 18:33

3 more days. More marking and planning and dealing with emails today and have already arranged a meeting with a colleague on my day off on Thursday to go through stuff I need to know for mentoring student. Had a meeting in non paid time on Monday to do my appraisal stuff and set up targets that should help me get ups next year if they don't burn me out first.

I know technically I shouldn't be doing this many hours but there's no way round it really.

Hopefully it settles down as time goes on.

Isolating kids now have to be set work on go which is baffling because we've set up google classrooms for all of our groups.

Luckily I don't teach the year group with 60 kids out.

BrewGinWineThanks < each to their own.

Ive made the mistake of replying to a post in the secondary education forum. I'm feeling stupidly sensitive about it now.
Just knackered and taking everything to heart

Hi all, not a regular here said hello a few times. Daughter has covid, I'm a lone parent with 3 year ds too. We've had nearly 10days in the house. Missed the last week of school and not feeling great myself. Just watched the briefing looks like my area might go into 3. Feeling so low. 😔

starrynight19 · 20/10/2020 19:06

Really sorry for all those mentally struggling. It’s just so shit this all of it.
Isolating is so hard and to keep doing it over and over again is really hard. Dd has just broken down.
Hugs to all FlowersWineCakeBrew

WhyNotMe40 · 20/10/2020 19:09

@CarrieBlue

Whynotme40 - a yr7 overinvested mum, don’t sweat her hang ups and delusions
Thanks. We do low stakes "out of 10" mini tests every single lesson with every class. Its really not an issue with my classes.

Goingcrazy hang in there. It's all pretty rubbish at the moment. Could you embrace the forced hibernation a bit and go all hygge? Binge watch musicals or something and craft projects?
Big hugs

colourofblue · 20/10/2020 19:14

I’ll probably get hate for this but I don’t think it’s on bitching about other threads here.

Danglingmod · 20/10/2020 19:14

There is just starting to be some coverage of schools in the media. Rolling banner on News 24 right now, an article in the Guardian today about lack of tech for remote learning for many students which also mentions stats on school closures... Tide is turning

MsAwesomeDragon · 20/10/2020 19:35

goingcrazy keep going. You can and will get through this, but I know it's tough right now. Flowers Are you having symptoms that would let you have a test? Then you would at least know what you're dealing with. 🤞 that you stay with mild symptoms that you can manage ok with.

Goingcrazzy · 20/10/2020 19:44

Thank you. I'm probably just run down with the stress of everything. If I get covid we're truly fucked. I'm hardly going SD from my little ones lol. Will look up hygge and attempt to not eat the last of the treats. X

MrsHerculePoirot · 20/10/2020 19:56

@Goingcrazzy eat the treats! Then get a neighbour to get your more supplies is my advice. Whatever it takes to get you through!

CarrieBlue · 20/10/2020 20:02

@colourofblue

I’ll probably get hate for this but I don’t think it’s on bitching about other threads here.
You’re probably right, just wanted Whynot not to feel too awful about a totally normal thing that she had a overly robust reply too.

No hate from me Smile
