You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Out of a normal six lesson day, today I have eight students in total. One of the last positives to go off was 1.8m from my desk for 75 minutes, directly facing me. That was one week ago - I’m really hoping I get through the next week symptom free, and not seeing anyone or going anywhere outside of work, as I know I should be isolating even if I’m not.

There is a lot of nudge going on about the circuit breaker. I am expecting it. During our holiday. Nice.DH will have a fit if he has been going into school all this time and doing everything asked of him and can't play golf at half term. He is already having a meltdown at his school's plans to remote teach simultaneously all absent kids (not just covid ones) 'because the government says we have to'. He is inept on computers and their set up involves two different screens/screen sharing and all sorts , whilst teaching . He is just your normal teachers who sues a normal white board in lessons.

Last time this happened , the private schools'led the way' and the rest of us fell into line, so I am expecting at some point that we will all be pointlessly trying to teach kids on screen in two different places. I did say he should put it to his rabid dep head that this makes the actual teaching of the class in the room very compromised but he won't...

MrsHerculePoirot · 16/10/2020 08:00

Our live/remote lessons involve sharing our screen but no cameras on and we end the remote bit ASAP once we have done the bulk of ‘teaching’ and they are moving onto more independent work. I know teaching doesn’t quite work like that normally - but we felt it was enough. I was totally against it but actually it is ok. Having said that of course the first few classes we’ve trialled it/offered it to only a couple of students have turned up... many, many of ours don’t have tech at home. So basically they are totally fucked over by this whole thing, and the gap just widening more and more with every decision the government make it feels.

WhyNotMe40 · 16/10/2020 08:01

The thing is that bojo himself doesn't know what he is doing.
He knows he should be imposing a lockdown and hasn't learned from March's mistake of leaving it too late. He wants the public to be begging for a lockdown first.

Just discovered my mum has had a stroke. She has been going downhill for a while. Both alzheimers and strokes run in family.

She is in NYC so there is nothing I can do. Feel crap.

phlebasconsidered · 16/10/2020 09:11

Sorry to hear that Piggy.

I had forgotten how much I hate google classroom.

The whole of year 10 is off now in the school which the sibling of my positive child is. In year 10.
I am still symptom free and still having to do my pupil progress remotely. It's a joke.
