Looking to organise my school wardrobe, need some comfy shoes for school. To wear with trousers mostly. Any and all suggestions welcome.

No one in real life would believe that I know the answer to this but marks and Spencer shoes are really comfortable. All of them.

Thanks @mrsHamlet

Fitflop loafers are heavenly.

Hercwasonaroll · 16/08/2020 10:24

I second marks. Not too expensive either. Clarks are ridiculous now.

Dotinthecity · 16/08/2020 10:52

We all wear Skechers in our school. It’s like walking around in your slippers.

StationView · 16/08/2020 12:00

I wear a lot of Fly London and they're great. There are some on the Schuh imperfects site ATM where I waste far too much time

MrsHamlet · 16/08/2020 12:45

We would not be allowed Skechers.

Hercwasonaroll · 16/08/2020 13:01

No sketchers allowed here unless you have medical problems. Secondary with not too outrageous dress code.

Dotinthecity · 16/08/2020 13:06

Gosh! I’m shocked. We have a no blue jeans rule but that’s it. I’d be miffed if I couldn’t choose my own footwear. 😱

MrsHamlet · 16/08/2020 13:09

I don't have a problem with the no trainers rule. I would have a serious issue with 'no vertiginous heels' though

Hercwasonaroll · 16/08/2020 13:31

Our rule is business dress, no denim, no trainers, no flip flops. Rules about appropriate summer clothes had to be introduced for younger female members of staff too Hmm

MrsHamlet · 16/08/2020 13:38

We have a bra colour rule for the students who justifiably complained about it not also applying to staff. I'm not sure why anyone would wear a see through blouse and bright pink bra to work...

Hercwasonaroll · 16/08/2020 13:45

I can imagine the exact member of staff who would do that where I work.

We've had extremes at young and old though. Young staff turning up in outfits that would be suitable for clubbing, and older members of staff wearing what look like old gardening t shirts. The mid 50s lady wearing mid thigh shorts on sports day led to a sports day dress code 😂

oldperson1 · 16/08/2020 14:03

Hitters do some decent shoes and they are comfortable, so do Vyonic

oldperson1 · 16/08/2020 14:04

Hitters 😳meant Hotters

ohthegoats · 16/08/2020 14:05

I wear Fly London biker boots all winter, I have three pairs of MES boots in different colours. I wear Birkenstock Madrids in summer, again I have them in lots of colours. There are a few weeks where neither of these are appropriate, and it's a nightmare. Random ballet flats, Fly 'flats' (which aren't actually flat, so can't wear them two days in a row).

Someone told me to buy 'Hotter' shoes, but it's an old-lady-shoe minefield, and any that I've actually liked have been REALLY expensive for just a couple of weeks a year.

ohthegoats · 16/08/2020 14:16

Just remembered - I bought a pair of blue suede brogues last year for wearing with trousers, but I also wear them with dresses and thick tights. I'm not trendy though.

Ditto.
PenOrPencil · 16/08/2020 19:16

Ecco, Dr Martens and a pair of Clark’s school shoes are my school shoes. I am eyeing up Birkenstock shoes at the moment for all that walking around we will have to do from September.

sakura06 · 16/08/2020 20:38

I agree about M&S shoes. Very comfortable.

Nc13t765tyrv · 16/08/2020 20:58

Ive just bought some Hush puppies but cant comment on how comfortable they are yet!

phlebasconsidered · 16/08/2020 23:38

I have made the choice to wear fugly black trainer style slip ons when we go back because I can bung them in the wash on low heat. I usually do rocket dog type stuff but next term I am factory shop washable sprayable disposable comfort all the way!

mangomama91 · 17/08/2020 09:41

I live in my Vans era shoes at school and so does another teacher friend I have. Not sure if it would be part of your school uniform but they are so comfortable!

year5teacher · 17/08/2020 09:55

I have a pair of dr martens Mary Janes with the double strap. They were like £100 but I’d wanted them for YEARS and they’re comfy and indestructible.
I also have a pair of very comfy croc skin loafers from river island. They’re actually padded on the inside!

Juiceey · 17/08/2020 11:11

I also live in these red or dead jades and they are sooooo comfy for my wide old feet. I have them in red and black! Love them with tights and a dress.
