You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to beat us with then please do so elsewhere and not in the staffroom

But the unions have been noticeably so so quiet. Bloody militants.

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/07/2020 19:54

Phleb, I do think they're taking the piss at your place. No pun intended. Thanks that's not an acceptable day. And you can't be cleaning for classes of 30+

Surely you should have ppe to clean?

Th guardian report from Germany that "children" (teens as far as I can tell) seem to be very low vectors was done during lockdown with measures in place. And said wider schools will* Be opening in sept but with measures and masks.* Germany has smaller classes too, and all go home at 12:30/1:30, time for deep cleans etc.

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/07/2020 19:55

Bold fail...WITH MASKS

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/07/2020 19:57

I agree it's the little things. It's also if nursery give me a later drop off and pick up time due to staggering which will severely impact my ability to get to school and set up/ clear up effectively, especially extra cleaning of equipment.

Appuskidu · 13/07/2020 20:03

I would really like to know what the guidance is for returning schools in other countries in September.

ohthegoats · 13/07/2020 20:08

The US is just get back I think.

Listen to More or Less yesterday, Swedish guy saying that they are happy that schools didn't close.

Piggywaspushed · 13/07/2020 20:14

Bet he wasn't teacher! My understanding is they have been on their knees.

Schools in Sweden are closed for the oldest, mind.

Same debates are raging in the US as here. We really are very Trumpian. Even the soundbites are the same.

Wonder what italy will do re schools.
Fining concerned parents is the wrong way to go.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/07/2020 20:52

LA and San Diego are going to be fully distance learning. I think I read NY would be going back part time - 2 days a week. I guess what happens in the US will likely depend on what the outbreaks for individual states look like.

Piggywaspushed · 13/07/2020 21:06

I posted some links about the US a couple of days ago. It's a proper ideological battleground.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/07/2020 21:18

And not helped by the fact that Trump is threatening to remove school funding from schools that don’t open fully. It shouldn’t make too much of a difference as most funding is state controlled not federal but between him and DeVos they are really going to fuck this up.

ohthegoats · 13/07/2020 21:46

My friend is an EY teacher in San Diego. She was brilliant in getting me up and r7nning with online stuff. They were really organised and on it from the word go.

Keepdistance · 13/07/2020 21:49

Hopefully someone will point BJ to the world of meters chart showing declining cases with masks otherwise a big second peak.

CallmeAngelina · 13/07/2020 21:53

Someone stop me biting on the "loo thread!!!" (or is it the other one?)
I know there's a goady fucker on there who's doing it deliberately and I must stop rising to it.

Piggywaspushed · 13/07/2020 21:57

That sounds thoroughly unhygienic for a start Angelina !

CallmeAngelina · 13/07/2020 22:02
Grin
pooiepooie25 · 13/07/2020 22:10

Imagine what those goady fuckers are like in real life. Do you reckon they are fucking wankers to everyone they know or don't say boo to a goose in the real world (the world that teachers need to work in...).

Piggywaspushed · 13/07/2020 22:45

Just announced: face masks compulsory in shops soon.

Appuskidu · 13/07/2020 22:47

Well, let’s see what the unions say about masks now.

Needed in enclosed spaces, where you might walk past someone you can’t socially distance from, but in schools...!?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/07/2020 22:50

A lot of MNers are going to lose their shit if school children have to wear masks. Probably the same ones saying schools in x y z are back and not realising they are wearing masks.

CallmeAngelina · 13/07/2020 23:19

Not as much as the shit they'd lose if invited in to view the school loos mid-way through the average day.

noblegiraffe · 13/07/2020 23:23

Someone stop me biting on the "loo thread!!!"

Sorry about ‘deliberately provoking’ teacher bashers. Actually I don’t think that thread turned out too badly. The obvious trolls were obvious and plenty seemed to think that it was fine to draw the line at toilet cleaning.

ohthegoats · 13/07/2020 23:27

Seen this - family gathering. Note 17 year old and 9 year old.

The Twelfth Republic - push and glide to the summer break
noblegiraffe · 13/07/2020 23:43

So the 9 year old gave it to their grandparents. That’s not good. Also, what happened to kids don’t spread it.

CallmeAngelina · 13/07/2020 23:49

Also, what happened to kids don’t spread it.
Dunno, but I'm still seeing morons quoting that as a reason for getting schools open NOW.
