You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to beat us with then please do so elsewhere and not in the staffroom.

Lol thanks for the lanolin point piggy! no only on us.

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/06/2020 14:18

Is that Mrs Gove of Michael Gove who has kids? I thought they couldn't/ didn't have any?

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/06/2020 14:19

Wow, I had no idea.

Christ, yes parents evenings...

Daughter sounds a complete rebel, I like her already Grin

noblegiraffe · 25/06/2020 14:29

Yeah Neuro, you maybe didn’t want to think they’d procreated.

Gove’s daughter had suspected coronavirus and he wangled a test for her so that he didn’t have to quarantine and Piers Morgan went on a massive rant about how Gove could have worked from home and nurses who lived together had to miss 2 weeks of work because they couldn’t get tests. Made me feel quite kindly towards Piers Morgan Shock

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/06/2020 14:43

Oh that completely passed me by!

Yeah he's been doing that a lot recently Grin

Piggywaspushed · 25/06/2020 15:23

Rebecca Long Bailey sacked.

noblegiraffe · 25/06/2020 15:25

Omg was that the Maxine Peake thing?

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/06/2020 15:27

What have I missed? Confused

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/06/2020 15:34

Oh gosh.

Who's next to replace her?

noblegiraffe · 25/06/2020 15:34

She retweeted an article that claimed the restraint technique that killed George Floyd came from Israel.

It was a long article and that was a small part but...

Russell19 · 25/06/2020 15:48

Ho, please can someone link the new advice document people are referring to? Thanks!

flumposie · 25/06/2020 15:50

Been in school teaching year 12 this afternoon. It was supposed to be a review and revision of the 2 units I have been ' teaching ' via narrated PowerPoints. Became a waste of time as it came clear that for whatever reasons they've not done the work . I've started on Unit 3 this week and some are still on Unit 1 Sad

MsAwesomeDragon · 25/06/2020 16:14

That's crap flumposie. I was surprised how well my year 12 has done at home, but I have an unusually well motivated class this year. The other year 12 maths class have been less motivated, and there will be huge gaps between the 2 classes (I've got 3 who will require a lot of catch up, but there's 9 of the other class who've done no work). It's an impossible task, isn't it?

CarrieBlue · 25/06/2020 16:37

Gove and Ms Vain’s son was the one left in his own in an hotel room at a young age whilst they went out partying. It surprised me at the time that they had offspring.

CarrieBlue · 25/06/2020 16:40

I’ve been in this afternoon, 1-2-1 with a student (I teach in a pru). She was lovely (only second time I’ve met her) but I also got to meet our new head who seemed ok - sounded like he has our backs at least which is a relief.

eitak22 · 25/06/2020 16:57

Just been on post about beaches and rubbish and of course it's because schools are closed!Hmm

Our primary is 2 form entry so each yr group would be 60ish. To go from a bubble of 15 to 60 is crazy. Think the head is assuming 30 and we find out our new classes this week... that should be interesting.

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/06/2020 17:01

The fall out around RLB on the NEU unofficial fb group is um, interesting...

ohthegoats · 25/06/2020 17:03

We mix ages group classes across a phase. So, 104 children in year 3 and 4 next year. They all need to be in a bubble together because we teach maths separately - also phonics etc, and loads of catch up other stuff next year I expect.

starrynight19 · 25/06/2020 17:06

Our school has now offered places to all children. Uptake has been very low.
Keyworker group sits at around 30 in two bubbles.
We had about eleven year 6 at the beginning of the week but numbers dwindling not sure of this is to do with the weather or they don’t like the idea of doing work full time now they are back.
We have a year r/1/2 bubble and that’s not full.
Having a year 4/5 bubble next week again not full.
A high pupil premium area.
Unbelievable that they are calling a whole year group a bubble in secondary.
The days are so long being in school with only a handful of children.

noblegiraffe · 25/06/2020 17:12

Ooh Neuro what are they saying?

She seemed to be close to the NEU.

Piggywaspushed · 25/06/2020 17:17

Looking at pictures of Bournemouth Beach, I guess we didn't need to bother with the live lessons today, hey?

Piggywaspushed · 25/06/2020 17:17

Ohn o , wait, we should have zoomed them at the beach.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 25/06/2020 17:30

Maybe my students were there as well. Lot of no-shows at school and on-line today. Absolutely no point delivering a lesson with a quarter of the students present.

eitak - I think it's become a rule that anything negative is our fault.

Mrs Gove seemed to be blaming the Brixton disturbance on us.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 25/06/2020 17:32

school is covered in signage and sanitisation stations but once in the playground the kids do not follow social distancing. Watched them share food and drink today in spite of the rules
