You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to beat us with then please do so elsewhere and not in the staffroom.

I have no ideas for this. I definitely have no ideas for secondary.

How are they doing secondary schools in China etc? We only see footage of tiny dots being sprayed on their way in and sitting in booths.

Piggywaspushed · 25/06/2020 12:16

From another thread , it seems the shielded group have had letters saying children back at school from August : just wash those hands...

Terrifying.

I know what I'd do if I was a parent.

Piggywaspushed · 25/06/2020 12:18

Jesus, Mrs Gove on Twitter:

More schools (sorry, am slightly obsessed): they should not only reopen but remain open through the summer for pupils to catch up. The virus is less virulent in hot weather, and kids don’t need another 10 weeks off. Especially those on free school meals. But everyone really

noblegiraffe · 25/06/2020 12:20

Why have Mrs Gove’s kids had ten weeks off? Is she not engaging with home learning?

ohthegoats · 25/06/2020 12:20

Oh she can fuck off.

ohthegoats · 25/06/2020 12:21

And if they've got 10 weeks 'off' coming up, then she can shut up about state school anything. That's private.

noblegiraffe · 25/06/2020 12:25

Gove’s kids go state. But y’know, not inner city type.

Saucery · 25/06/2020 12:28

Aveeno hand cream is very good (for me, MrsSensitiveHands). I’m getting through gallons of the stuff after a day at work.
I was told I couldn’t wear gloves to clean the desks and equipment, because ‘PPE is only permitted for First Aid’. I had to repeat several times that it wasn’t PPE against Covid 19, it was PPE against near constant exposure to cleaning wipes. In the end I took my own Marigolds in and stuck them in a box with MrsX’s CLEANING gloves written in big letters all over it.

noblegiraffe · 25/06/2020 12:29

Just been to their website. They’ve been using Google Classroom.

Wonder what her kids’ teachers think about ‘another 10 weeks off’.

ohthegoats · 25/06/2020 12:37

Have you asked her about it on Twitter? Not that there is any point, but.

I just asked a (shit) Tory MP who I went to university with a question on Twitter, and he replied. So miracles can happen.

Mistressiggi · 25/06/2020 12:38

Who is Mrs Gove on Twitter?

ohthegoats · 25/06/2020 12:39

WestminsterWAG

Saucery · 25/06/2020 12:42

Lol. She wishes. I prefer the Private Eye version, Sarah Vain - It’s All About Her
ohthegoats · 25/06/2020 12:46

Yep. Thank god for Private Eye over the last few months to be honest.

MD has been the most sensible commentary on the whole thing.

Piggywaspushed · 25/06/2020 12:48

I think Mrs Gove has factored in the next few weeks to her 10 weeks.

She must go down a storm at parents'' evenings.

TheHoneyBadger · 25/06/2020 12:52

I’ve been googling but no clearer. Don’t think I can afford £186 union subscription on 0.4 timetable. Seems a bit steep but I have the feeling I may need them

noblegiraffe · 25/06/2020 12:54

NASUWT do subs discounts for part time teachers.

marplemead · 25/06/2020 13:00

@TheHoneyBadger I'm 0.5 and pay about £96 (£8pm) for my NASUWT membership

Phineyj · 25/06/2020 13:01

Have you looked at Edapt as an alternative? They don't campaign but they offer the legal cover etc.

Phineyj · 25/06/2020 13:04

Oh wait, they're more expensive than NASUWT. Cheaper than NEU thought I think. They should all do sliding scale subs!

Beawillalwaysbetopdog · 25/06/2020 13:24

Honey the whole year bubble for secondary was in the torygraph.

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/06/2020 14:09

We only see footage of tiny dots being sprayed on their way in and sitting in booths.

I saw a load wearing wings last week.

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/06/2020 14:09

Social distancing wings.

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/06/2020 14:11

I don't know when I said Astrid. Never taught an Astrid.

Tonnes of liams, but was trying not to stereotype Grin

StrawberryJam200 · 25/06/2020 14:11

Year group bubbles also mentioned by ASCL yesterday. Thanks whoever posted the link to this, am definitely going to try and watch Geoff Barton's daily briefing, calm and sensible!
