Working Half term holiday

Presumably most other Primary school staff are in this position? Having to work next week because school is open to key workers kids but not actually being paid for it because it should be holiday time?

My school aren't setting work during the holidays but it's still tough for the kids that are still coming to school. Thankfully we have managed to close for the bank holidays.

Yep. Ours are having full learning programme for next week, but not obliged to do it. I don't agree with the decision.

SparklyOnTheInside · 23/05/2020 12:33

We are open for key worker kids, same as Easter. Staff were asked to volunteer and are going in on a rota.

Closed on the bank holiday though.

We have not set home learning for half term.

FlamingoAndJohn · 23/05/2020 12:56

We are open, but a reduced number of children.
Staff are only doing one day in the week and we have been told to take a day off the week before.

I’m guessing that many childcare options people would normally use are not available.

What does everyone expect will happen over summer? I think I will ask to be paid if asked up go in. I feel it sets a dangerous precedent otherwise.

Hibbetyhob · 23/05/2020 18:57

We are closed over half term - none of our 20 or so keyworker children needed a space so it was an easy decision.

DH (secondary SLT) is going in 1 day but it was all volunteers (unlike Easter which was rota) & they’re being paid for the day.

I’m really hoping summer isn’t going to come up as even a suggestion as I’m just not doing it.

CallmeAngelina · 23/05/2020 22:32

I will absolutely not be working over the summer holidays.

NCTDN · 23/05/2020 23:11

Really hope summer holidays will mean schools are closed. I'm in fitting half term. I'm in the same position as some others on here- work part time yet since lockdown doing the same hours as full timeAngrybut obviously paid part time wages!

School is closed to key worker and vulnerable children, and SLT are taking on the vulnerable pupil contact for thr whole week so staff can have a break.... But staff are still expected to check and respond to emails and continue planning home learning etc. My year group is one that will be returning and head very kindly sent out the plan and provision for reopening to parents on Monday, so I've been inundated with questions and queries.

It's not really a break at all, is it?
