Let's boycott all school threads outside of Education

Honestly guys we are getting a kicking on other threads. We repeatedly have to explain our contracts, holidays, why we are not doing more online, why we should be doing less on ...... it is never ending. So far we have been off for the Easter break plus a max of two weeks. There is a lot of the population that do not need childcare. We are open for key worker children but that gets ignored. All the social distancing issues are ignored. All the ppe requirements are ignored. Now it could be that the trolls just see us as an easy target, hence all the forlough calls. So as a union member, I am requesting that teachers do not have to explain themselves on other threads as we are just fueling the fire. (I have been guilty of this).

So I am calling for a union boycott!

OMG people, step away from the crazy AIBU!!!

Piggywaspushed · 24/04/2020 10:18

Which one? The one that started out all nice about MH and has been hijacked? the OP needs to intervene.

If I read teachers are like nurses one more time....

Piggywaspushed · 24/04/2020 10:22

Oh, no THAT ONE...

Why is that still going?? The OP said she had asked for it to be taken down FFS.

It really is just one bonkers woman chewing the fat with lola and sally...

LolaSmiles · 24/04/2020 10:28

That poster is illogical, but it's quite funny.

They've claimed teachers called her children little shits, then admitted they didn't but she can just tell that teachers are smirking and thinking it.

worstofbothworlds · 24/04/2020 10:29

I’m being driven mad by students emailing me about the work. Which is clearly in the place online that we put all homework. Feel like a stick record.

May I suggest a move into HE? You'll feel right at home AND you can read all the "why can't you always teach online and give us a discount" threads.

Piggywaspushed · 24/04/2020 10:29

lola though, seriously, stop giving her oxygen. You aren't going to change her mind!!

Piggywaspushed · 24/04/2020 10:30

QUIZ ON BISCUITS THREAD

QUIZ!!!

NO PRIZES JUST GLORY!

Piggywaspushed · 24/04/2020 10:30

I have seen that worst.

A loooot of familiar posters on there...

LolaSmiles · 24/04/2020 10:34

I've said that if she genuinely feels that all staff think children are little shits then she may be better home educating as the chip on her shoulder is always going to be an issue and left it at that.

CarrieBlue · 24/04/2020 10:43

She is totally insane! I’d replied but I won’t post further - the op on that thread was so lovely coming back and apologising and then this nutter takes over with batshit craziness - I’m flummoxed

pinkrocker · 24/04/2020 11:16

Goodness me, how many different arguments can one poster start and then backtrack on! Flowers

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 24/04/2020 11:16

Flipping heck I am worried about Bubble's blood pressure. Where on earth has all that come from? It's not healthy

@CarrieBlue - you can't argue with people who don't listen. All a bit Vicky Pollard - 'yer but no but' ....

I am off for a cup of tea as its break time Grin

CarrieBlue · 24/04/2020 11:19

I get the feeling it’s not her kids that the teachers discuss in the staff room......

summerdown · 24/04/2020 11:29

I'm feeling quite uncomfortable about this whole thread (or the way it has turned) and yes I should probably jsut stay away! Although I'm not a teacher I work in education and I am always incredibly supportive of the difficuly job teachers are all doing. And particularly now when there is so much to do to support children at a distance as well as the few still in schools. But seriously, listen to some of the bitching and moaning on here. It's hard for a lot of people right now, many professions are also learning how to do a job from home, or working in difficult circumstances or perhaps without a job. And all whilst supporting learning for their own children in a way thwy have never been used to (perhaps with support from school but not in all cases) .

A bit of understanding (on both sides) wouldn't hurt!

RigaBalsam · 24/04/2020 11:31

To be honest I have found this thread invaluable. I was so down with all of the teacher bashing this has saved my mental health.

I think you are being a bit unfair.

Piggywaspushed · 24/04/2020 11:36

To change the subject (and to avoid starting a thread on this , the horror!) if anyone has access to the Times, you should read the article about the dissatisfaction and levels of protest in France about the plan for school return.

People on MN often shout UNION at us as if we have rabid unions : the French unions are obviously far more active, and the parents are also unionised. It's a fascinating read.

All is not happiness and serenity in Germany either with some areas refusing to return to school yet.

I agree that we need to stop posting on, and talking about, the 'other thread'. Just leave it alone.

CarrieBlue · 24/04/2020 11:52

French unions are fantastic!

Piggywaspushed · 24/04/2020 11:54

Feisty!

WifeofDarth · 24/04/2020 11:57

Piggy please can you likely to the article

worstofbothworlds · 24/04/2020 11:59

A loooot of familiar posters on there...
The children grow up... Shame about the parents!

WifeofDarth · 24/04/2020 11:59

Oh, got it. SILis teacher in France, v concerned about health implications of going back

Piggywaspushed · 24/04/2020 12:00

I can try but I have no subscription : I read an actual paper. BRB.

Piggywaspushed · 24/04/2020 12:01

This is the article. Classic Times headline!

SallyLovesCheese · 24/04/2020 12:06

Sorry, guys, I am stepping away from it now, especially after the OP's latest post. There was no reasoning with her.

Am going to try the quiz, Piggy. I definitely know some of the answers, but definitely don't know some!

MrsHerculePoirot · 24/04/2020 12:09

I just wanted to say, as a teacher, have loved this thread - and have joined in with flowers when I’ve seen the need. I don’t have much else to say (unusual 😂) so have mostly been reading but thank you!!!
