Delay Phase

Has anyone had any meetings, briefings or other information on what the delay phase would look like for staff?

Curious to know how many have had nothing, and what those who HAVE had something have been told.

Nothing yet in my school, but the word 'pandemic' has been used now, so who knows.

Nothing yet. No handwashing posters, no extra cleaning and no plans for if we shut.

caulkheaded · 11/03/2020 19:42

SLT meetings including audits of students to know who can work from home. That’s is so far but today was fake ofsted so maybe more now that’s done.

stargirl1701 · 11/03/2020 19:46

Just hand washing so far.

SpinachQueen · 11/03/2020 19:48

Delay Phase is the school closure phase. I've seen mentions of Google Classroom on other threads - anything similar?

caulkheaded that's interesting. How did they gather the results? Pupil poll or some other way?

We've been told to ensure we have a bank of work that students can do remotely, and been sent an email about how to access it /set the work. Other than that, it's business as usual.

ladygracie · 11/03/2020 20:09

We had training in how to use google classroom today. Y11 are the priority so we will try to keep them in if possible. That’s all I know.

Littlelot · 11/03/2020 20:11

We have a meeting on Tuesday to discuss what Is expected of us in the event of closure and then give us time to prep resources. My husbands school have been asked to put together resources that can be distributed to each year group. I think heads in our area have been told to prep.

SpinachQueen · 11/03/2020 20:12

Interesting. Very much remote teaching prep where there are plans.

We've been asked to recommend online resources for our subjects just in case. I still don't think school closures will happen.

DoubleAction · 11/03/2020 20:13

We got all the key staff together in one room today to make a plan Grin

caulkheaded · 11/03/2020 20:27

We’re part of a huge academy chain so they sent out an online audit for us to do - Access to computer, access to apps, WiFi/mobile data, then had to say %fsm kids and %agency involvement.

MaureenMLove · 11/03/2020 20:39

We have posters all over and students have had tutor time on the facts as we know it so far.

I am keeping track and recording anyone who has phoned in (staff and students) with Corona related reasons. As yet, our Borough has no reported cases, although we are London Borough so probably won't be long.

I'm concerned about the number of staff and students I know have underlying medical conditions, which includes me, but until we have further instructions, it's business as usual.

My thoughts are that we'll go another week and then Corba will meet again and think seriously about the delay phase. Generally across the country we'll be a week away from Easter holidays by then.

On the up side, it has prompted The facilities manager to fix the taps in the ladies facilities, so that the water isn't scolding hot like it has been for months!

SpinachQueen · 11/03/2020 20:42

Well, it's a start!

DoubleAction ...was it a 'cunnin plan'?

OP posts:
DoubleAction · 11/03/2020 20:46

The upshot seems to be keep calm and carry on Grin and a reminder that self isolating is NOT necessary except in very specific circumstances.

SpinachQueen · 11/03/2020 20:49

Genius! Give that team a raise!

sarahC40 · 11/03/2020 20:54

Our school has posters and we are encouraging hand washing (disturbing number of yr 8s in one class raised their hands to say they’d been to the loo, just after no one raised their hands to the q. ‘So who has washed their hands today?). HoD asked to get bank of resources together - we are sorted but no idea what system will be used to deliver. Kids are literally bursting for quarantine; plenty of parents locally muttering about longer hols for bloody teachers.

sarahC40 · 11/03/2020 20:56

Oh and the facilities team found loos vandalised again. I’ve taken to asking which kid is weird enough to have a problem/yen for smashing locks etc.

crazycatgal · 11/03/2020 22:06

Nothing has been mentioned to us at all.

MoltoAgitato · 11/03/2020 22:12

Governor here - we’ve just had an FGB tonight when we were briefed on school plans (primary) with outline of possible scenarios (total closure, Y6 in, some in some at home). Basically if our caretaker is off we’re screwed as they do the cleaning and the chances of us being able to get anyone in to replace is unlikely as agency staff will be a)extortionate and b) unavailable as every school will need help!

Letter out to parents tomorrow with information.

SpinachQueen · 11/03/2020 22:17

MoltoAgitato Sounds worthwhile.

Does anyone know what prompted action in the schools that are actively planning? LEA instruction, head's decision?

This has made me chuckle 🤭

NeurotrashWarrior · 12/03/2020 07:11

People are possibly taking it more seriously after a school group trip to Italy at the neighbouring high school was sent home earlier in the week.

Boxes of tissues appeared in classrooms.

BecauseReasons · 12/03/2020 07:16

Primary here. Nothing said, I take it that unless the government closes us forcibly we will remain open, but if we shut, we are properly shut.

BecauseReasons · 12/03/2020 07:17

Ooh, we also have boxes of tissues! Loving it as I've had a stonking cold since last week.
