The tension is horrendous. Everyone is walking on a razor edge, people keep crying, the kids are all edgy as well. It's awful.

All the student teachers getting their first jobs, an unbelievable number of TAs giving their notice in this week.......I feel like Michael Palin’s character in Life Of Brian hanging in his cell croaking You lucky LUCKY bastard!

Naveloranges · 22/06/2018 22:38

1 week to go.

kingseat2016 · 22/06/2018 22:42

We finish on Thursday. Thank god.

NotAgainYoda · 23/06/2018 08:05

Totally agree

Primary school

Every year the number of extra events increases. The staff find it irksome, the children don't care, I'm pretty sure (being a parent myself) they are inconvenience to many parents, and they end up being ill-conceived and poorly-executed.

Narkle · 25/06/2018 05:19

@noblegiraffe I forgot to mention that we also have tight deadlines to re-write our entire KS3 and 4 schemes of work. Planning for next year is an expected and thoroughly inspected part of our job.

I currently merely re-hash whatever I still have from last year's planning for my current classes to try and fit everything else in. Sad state of affairs where everything else takes priority over the actual teaching of lessons.

Directed time has always been a bit dodgy and we're constantly told that we will have shorter breaks and our non-contact time will decrease next year while most of us are already on 90% plus only 1-2 extra frees for TLR holders. Then again we will also have our contracts re-written at middle and senior management stage. Morale is rock-bottom. Non-LA as you may guess, so unions are powerless.

Thankfully I'm out by the end of the year.

Urbanbeetler · 25/06/2018 06:05

You always think somehow that when Yr 11 go, it will miraculously become calmer and you’ll have all this time. But it NEVER happens like that. EVER! And each year you still think it will. Fool.

piefacedClique · 25/06/2018 06:21

Try being a cover supervisor at this time of year! 😭😭😭😭😭

piefacedClique · 25/06/2018 06:26

A barrage of requests for films from kids who don’t want to be there and see you as an easy target. With staff who are out on reward trips with some pupils (pissing the remaining ones off) and slt who expect who still expect the lesson(to half a class) to be taught as if ofsted are in. Oh and an interview for an 8 week temporary post! Ffs!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 25/06/2018 18:17

I know! I'm scribing for the same kid all week (shittest scribe ever. I honestly put my pen down and gave him A Look today. "Really?" I said. "Reallly???")

BingTheButterflySlayer · 25/06/2018 18:37

Kids' school got the O-call this morning... poor poor teachers getting that at this time of the term!

MissMarplesKnitting · 25/06/2018 18:42

We did too.

Ofsted, on the hottest week of the year. Just fantastic eh??!!!

Once it's over I am drowning in a vat of white wine....

PurpleCrowbar · 25/06/2018 18:48

3 days to go here!

I've had to STFU about it on Facebook as back in UK next week & would rather not be murdered on arrival by ex - colleagues when we go for a Wine next weekend Wink

Piggywaspushed · 25/06/2018 18:50

That really really sucks.

I wonder if anyone ahs any stats on the likelihood of receiving different Ofsted judgements at different points in school terms/ year?

The inspectors probably don't much want to be stuck in a boiling hot school either!

noblegiraffe · 25/06/2018 18:59

Oh dear god proof Ofsted are actually evil.

Good luck missmarple, may the inspectors be so blinded by sweat that they can’t find your classroom.

Iknowacrackingowlsanctuary · 25/06/2018 19:11

We have 5 weeks left (including this one) and still have:

Learning walks
Book scrutiny
2 parents evenings
Sports Day
Curriculum Week
Transition Week(!!!!! What the fucking hell)
School trip
Leaver’s performance

All that and I’m 8 months pregnant and it’s bloody roasting in my classroom.

We’re down to the last few whiteboard pens. I sent a child to ask for some in the office and seriously said that they wouldn’t shout at him for asking like they’ve done to me. When he returned with a handful the whole class cheered! Grin

Olivo · 25/06/2018 19:35

I too feel the pain. Just ticked off an inset, sports day and an observation; still to go, 2 day trips, 2 induction days, 2 speech days, I activity trip and one clearing out of my room as I am leaving!!

BingTheButterflySlayer · 26/06/2018 09:24

IKnow you still HAVE whiteboard pens?! I'm only in the kids' school as a volunteer at the moment (trying to get back IN to teaching as everyone else is trying to run the other way) - but I resorted to going around every area outside where people do small group work on occasions to try to round up some working ones the other week!

user109842 · 26/06/2018 15:45

5 weeks???? God I'm chomping at the bit and we've got one week.

brizzledrizzle · 26/06/2018 19:19

@MIssMarplesKnitting

Ofsted, on the hottest week of the year. Just fantastic eh??!!! Once it's over I am drowning in a vat of white wine....

You've got that all wrong - you drown Ofsted in some cheap, nasty white wine and get yourself the decent stuff to drink.

elephantoverthehill · 26/06/2018 19:27

I heard a local Secondary had Ofsted in today as well. They've probably only come so they can bring their partners to enjoy the sea and the sand.

cupofteaplease · 27/06/2018 06:56

We have Ofsted in. I’m exhausted and the children are hot, sweaty and irritable!

PumpkinPie2016 · 27/06/2018 21:51

Wine for all those who have ofsted in! You poor things!

I had a big coursework intervention to do today, parents eve tomorrow and although I have done a lot, I still feel like I have loads to do in a short space of time.

I am moving classrooms next year as well so need to sort my stuff out.

3 weeks left!
