The tension is horrendous. Everyone is walking on a razor edge, people keep crying, the kids are all edgy as well. It's awful.

We're having a ball. Reports are done. End of year assessments done. Class photos done.

Just need to do sports day & one trip.

Kids are all happy. Topic work is fun, maths games are fun, lots of sunshine for outside work/play. What's not to like.

It's that bad the mini plague of D and V sounded tempting.

Dear god yes, there is going to be fisticuffs over the last few glue sticks in the stock cupboard Grin

D&V does sound tempting wonder if i can string it out for a week

TheFifthKey · 19/06/2018 21:05

There may be explosions about rooming - there’s an issue simmering, and I’ve seen my timetable and I’ve got “good rooming”, which means at least one, possibly two or even three people might be pissed off when they see theirs...I know I got shown mine first because there was nothing I’d kick off about on it!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 19/06/2018 21:13

It's that bad the mini plague of D and V sounded tempting. yeah but I'm the poor fucker who has to cover them.

PumpkinPie2016 · 19/06/2018 22:15

TheFifthKey yes, I am envisiging rooming wars too

And don't get me started on the arguments that will ensue when I when round the timetable of who is doing what on New intake day!

elephantoverthehill · 19/06/2018 22:23

We have 'VIPs' in this week. Academy and government type bods. I have been warned of one visit on Thursday morning but as I had a door wedged open to try and circulate the air in my classroom today, that was taken as an 'open door' classroom. The 'VIP' was suited and booted and completely expressionless. I might just implode.

crunchtime · 19/06/2018 22:35

We had 4 pukers and a pee their pants last week.

49thJuly · 19/06/2018 22:43

I'm going to explode I think. I always wondered about kids throwing things at people they don't like. I never ever had that urge, not until I met one of my especially lovely colleagues.

Dreading tomorrow.

We've been told that we will have a surprise all-year-all-book trawl this side of half-term. On top of mocks for all year groups bar 11 and 13, another parents evening, year 6s coming in, more new behaviour rules, which are trialled, a myriad of learning walks etc.
4 weeks to go and I cannot wait.

noblegiraffe · 21/06/2018 07:53

What the hell, Narkle? Have SLT got nothing better to do?

When are you meant to plan for next year?

marcopront · 21/06/2018 08:01

When I returned to the UK from overseas I had interviews lined up in the last week in June. One school wanted a demo lesson with a year 8 class the day after sports day. I was so glad I got a job before going to that interview.

PumpkinPie2016 · 21/06/2018 15:38

Narkle that sounds hideous!! We have had learning walk observations which includes looking at some books in that class but we knew which lesson and class it was.

We also have another parents eve and and of year exams to mark but at least no more book checks/learning walks!

I still have so much to do and I am so tired at the moment!

PotteringAlong · 21/06/2018 15:41

Yes. People have started appropriating left over stationary for next year. There was an unopened box of coloured pencils in the science prep room. We were nearly a Physics teacher short for next year!

borntobequiet · 21/06/2018 18:40

Narkle that sounds just like the sort of stuff my former SLT would do (happily, I’m now retired from secondary). They really were idiots.

Piggywaspushed · 21/06/2018 19:03

I have encountered four different sobbing members of staff today... bad times.

Bekindtoall78 · 21/06/2018 19:13

I seem to have been hysterically happy. I think trying to get the kids moving at least 2 points progress in 5 weeks is moving me towards this crazed personality 😂

PumpkinPie2016 · 21/06/2018 19:36

Grinpottering the distribution of access coloured pencils is a very serious matter Grin

PumpkinPie2016 · 21/06/2018 19:37

Excess not access!

elephantoverthehill · 21/06/2018 19:43

We have the added joy of a rather large music festival happening on our doorstep. Students will go to the first night tonight, many will make it to school tomorrow but be absolutey knackered and grumpy. At least Monday is a development day and so absences will not need to be chased. Many staff have to leave home extra early in the mornings to get through the traffic and arrive home much later. all in all a bit of a recipe for fractious tendencies.

BitchyInnerMonologue · 21/06/2018 19:46

Oh yes. The SATS and phonics are done; Y6 are in the bolshy "off to high school and don't care" phase.

All the other year groups are tired and hot and fed up.

Parents are also seeming to complain about every little thing.

phlebasconsidered · 21/06/2018 19:53

I have an observation and a pupil progress catch up yet. I'm apparently meant to have a magic wand and move all the lower attainers 2 points in the next 4 weeks. I'd settle for a TA in class.

MsAwesomeDragon · 21/06/2018 19:58

I am ready for an end of term argument. But I don't think the rest of the school are Confused

At least year 11 have gone, finally! I've now "just" got to write 4 sets of reports, mark summer exams for year 12, update my online safeguarding training, go on a course (which I get to miss sports day for Grin), have activities day, and have an observation. I keep thinking about how much work I've got to do, but other people seem to be thinking about how soon the holidays are. They're miles (4 weeks) away!!!

Piggywaspushed · 21/06/2018 20:14

I actually have my beef all typed up and ready to be submitted to someone senior, once I drum up courage. probably never

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/06/2018 20:39

Piggy - do we work together, by any chance? That sounds horribly familiar.
