Why are they so active?

I've had to turn off notifications from all the eager beavers posting pictures of their beautifully set up classrooms and being competitive about how many days they have spent in school since the start of the holidays

I can't even get in my room until the 30th as the builders are in school and the constant posts are making me feel guilty and woefully underprepared

Why can't these people turn off???

Bonkers, isn't it?

Their rooms must be really grubby. Don't think any of them have been deep cleaned.

The groups themselves aren't great though. Any time of the year it's people competing to be the World's Most Sweetest Sparkliest Loveliest Teacher.

Strongly dislike KEYU and Twinkl. EYFS staffroom is quite good.

GutterStar · 03/08/2017 15:59

The Fit2Teach Staffroom group is quite good.

emochild · 03/08/2017 21:18

I came off twinkl after disagreeing that a poem, biscuit and tea bag given out to reception parents was a good idea

I was jumped on Hmm

I came out of an early years group as I felt completely inadequate and the most boring teacher in the world.

We can't get into school due to building work so my room will probably resemble a bombsite when I return.

Balfe · 03/08/2017 21:56

I came off Twinkl after pointing out it wasn't a good idea to post all of your children's names in bracelet form. Similarly jumped on Hmm

ProphetOfDoom · 03/08/2017 22:02

There are FB teacher groups?! Why did I not know this? But perhaps best I'm not let loose.

Just for avoidance of doubt, I'm not going near my classroom until September. I might be planning but I'm in no hurry for the whiff of dust & boardpen.

MaisyPops · 03/08/2017 22:06

They sound hellish to be on.

I've gone in for a couple of hours to sort a couple of things out that I didn't finish last term. I'll probably do another couple of mornings or afternoons so I don't have to fight with the photocopier.

None of this will be documented on social media as some sort of star teacher brag. We are supposed to be highlighting workload concerns, not begging for gold stars for doing extra.

profpoopsnagle · 03/08/2017 22:20

Oh bugger, you mean we're supposed to work in the holidays? That's probably where I've been going wrong.

cece · 03/08/2017 22:52

I don't understand why they have set their classrooms up so early - when the cleaners come to do their deep clean then surely it will all get moved about?

Also they seem to have made displays without any children's work on them.

Madness - spending days and days of your holidays working!

RandomDent · 03/08/2017 22:55

Everyone seems to be buying some kind of toolbox with a million drawers and identical labels to store stationery in. Just use your ponytail or lanyard like the rest of us. Or steal the kids'. :o

emochild · 03/08/2017 23:18

It all just seems like a monumental waste of time

I can't remember the last time I used a treasury tag so I'm fairly confident I don't need a drawer full!

And who's paying for all this hessian, multi drawer storage boxes and cans of spray paint? -because there's no way I'd get reimbursed for it Hmm

OP posts:
MerrilyWatkins · 03/08/2017 23:20

Hey, don't mock the toolbox. It is going to make my desk look less like a bomb site next year! However, I'm proud to say that my classroom is bare and will remain so until the last week of the holidays when I put up some backing paper.

Imfinehowareyou · 03/08/2017 23:22

My DD is about to start school - I'd love a magazine, a packet of biscuits and a box of teabags please Grin

MerrilyWatkins · 03/08/2017 23:22

Insert where needed.

SnickersWasAHorse · 03/08/2017 23:29

I have a very over enthusiastic TA next year. She is wonderful but has been in three days already this holiday to set the classroom up. I have not!

emochild · 03/08/2017 23:33

I have a brand new TA -haven't actually met her yet but I'm told she's lovely Smile

We don't back our boards. They have really nice grey colour fabric on them so we just leave them as they are! The building is only 2 years old.

I only have 3 boards in my room. One of them is a wow board. Each child has an A4 size space (well a bit bigger than A4) and they chose their own work to go into their space. So that doesn't need changing. I have just kept up last years' version of it, minus the children's work. The other two are working walls for English/Maths so get filled up as we go along.

EvilTwins · 04/08/2017 08:05

I'm in a couple of subject specific ones (secondary) and occasionally lose the plot about how lazy people are - long the lines of "does anyone have a SOW about xxx?" which in itself isn't too bad, but if anyone replies, they get a million "ooo, can I have that too?" responses. Also people who post "I have been asked to do and I have no idea what to do - help!" kind of things. Makes me wonder why they're in the job. Biggest bugbear though is if you do share a resource with someone and they don't even say thank you Angry

Apart from that, they're great Grin

stargirl1701 · 04/08/2017 08:07

Are they Scottish teachers? We only have one more week left of holidays before term begins on the 14th.

emochild · 04/08/2017 09:04

eviltwins and interview lesson plans

I'm not involved in interviewing but my friend said she saw 4 near identical maths lessons this year

OP posts:
emochild · 04/08/2017 09:05

stargirl not generally Scottish teachers from the comments on them but you never know

MaisyPops · 04/08/2017 09:09

emo
Taking interview lessons from the Internet is just silly for that reason. I didn't think people actually did that. Oh dear.

I was a school cleaner. Teachers coming in were a ruddy nightmare. They messed up all the hard work we had done.
