Anyone got any ideas of one change that will make a real difference??
My biggest change is to try not to get upset about little things and focus on PROGRESS for everyone!!

Keep up to date with my marking - and do it in school rather than lugging books home and having them make me feel guilt all evening.
I shall stay until it is done, I have a much smaller class this year so I feel almost cheerful about facing my books.

IguanaTail · 27/08/2015 01:05

Get them to do homework on paper which I can then carry easily and mark more efficiently.

Plan my food more carefully so I'm not ravenously hungry when I stop for petrol and end up buying crap.

elephantoverthehill · 27/08/2015 01:16

Keep making students to put coursework on Google Drive. And show the marks on a spreadsheet. Gosh I am very over the hill but I have never lugged books home. Portfolios, yes but not for last 3 years.

Finola1step · 27/08/2015 01:17

Probably not what you want to hear but... I'm nit going back. After 20 years, that's me done.

elephantoverthehill · 27/08/2015 01:19

You Biatch Grin

BrendaandEddie · 27/08/2015 03:08

LeRn kids nAmes. Ive only known 2 classes properly oin 21 years.

BrendaandEddie · 27/08/2015 03:10

Do courses still do coursework ? Thank did I've never had to mark it. I'd loathe it.

Fallulah · 27/08/2015 08:32

Use my frees for working instead of drinking tea and chatting - got my own classroom this year so that should be easier instead of having to work in the kitchen and stopping to chat to everyone who came in.

Make a marking schedule and stick to it.

BrendaandEddie · 27/08/2015 09:24

Ive got a classroom with no one registering in it. Get me

mrsmilesmatheson · 27/08/2015 11:42
  1. Do all marking at school.
  2. Use peer marking and marking during lessons with a focus group more effectively.
  3. Go with the flow and stop getting annoyed by last minutes changes to plans (almost daily occurrence).
BatmanLovesMenInEyeliner · 27/08/2015 11:45
  1. Walk round class with a red pen as much as possible so feedback immediate and marking in the evening less onerous
  2. Try to remember at the end of the day it's just a job and not let things get to me
RoosterCogburn · 27/08/2015 12:48

mrsmiles number 3 sounds just like my school

mrsmilesmatheson · 27/08/2015 13:55

Oh dear rooster, it's nice too ow it's not just me though.

phlebasconsidered · 27/08/2015 19:52

I have purchased two crates for my car boot: I intend to have an in and out crate, not just one big mess of stuff. My boot always ends up as a desk.

I am going to use peer marking more.

I WILL NOT do knitting club again. Or bow to the stupid niggly ear elves that are suggesting sewing club....

I will properly learn the rules of hockey.

I have made a new Grammar 2016 checklist and target chart and I WILL ensure I use it!

i will always have a marking pen and not be mooching about at 10pm trying to find one in my kitchen drawer. (This will not happen)

pearlgirl · 27/08/2015 20:04

I am going to keep my paperwork in a more organised fashion and be planned well ahead - even though things change so much daily for me.

dreamcometrue · 27/08/2015 20:36

I will not shout.

I'm a natural shouter.

I've managed two days so far.

BrendaandEddie · 28/08/2015 00:24

I never shout. At home either

Like idea of waking about when kids doing stuff

dreamcometrue · 28/08/2015 08:03

Flowers huge congratulations on the never shouting Brenda

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/08/2015 13:41

I never shout either. I intend to keep a diary, properly, for the first time ever - and to check it on a Monday morning and know exactly what's happening all week. Oh and use marking codes much more, so that I'm not writing the same things 27 times.

ladygracie · 29/08/2015 17:55

I am going to cycle to school every day and keep up to date on sticking work in books.

KinkyDorito · 30/08/2015 09:32

Do not get sucked in to helping out other people and draining all my time (every free period). Had enough of ridiculous working hours. So, work in my frees on my own work load.

Repeat:

Not my circus, not my monkeys. Grin

KinkyDorito · 30/08/2015 09:35

Remus yy to diary! I always start with excellent intentions then realise that I haven't looked at it after week 2.

SaltaKatten · 30/08/2015 10:58

I'm going to eat lunch!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/08/2015 11:15

Kinky That's a good point. A lot of my role is about helping others, but I need to schedule it better and not let it suck all of my time.

RoosterCogburn · 30/08/2015 14:16

Not get side tracked after the pupils go home and end up having unnecessary protracted conversations when I could be doing something productive in my classroom.
