Absolutely gutted! All the crappy changes that horrendous man made to our jobs, to our children's education and prospects. I guess the only plus side is things might stay the same for a few years rather than big changes again. Surely they will realise that something needs to be done as teachers are leaving the profession by the thousands.

We can hope so, but I'm sure they've still got plenty up their sleeves.

Gove's got his eye on the big prize. He wants the Top Job. Education is tradtionally the willy waving ministerial post to show how tough you are.

I'm hoping he'll be put somewhere, anywhere other than education.

He'll be back by the end of the weekend, or whenever they announce a cabinet.

DH predicted a Conservative majority and is now saying Gove is going to be back. I sincerely hope not.

I only commented recently how they'd been keeping him hidden away for the election campaign, but hoped they didn't wheel him back out after the election.
I just hope he's given another department to play with and leaves education well alone - we've suffered enough.

He was hidden away for the election. He does not get on with George Osborne. I think he will be back, and will do a good job. He is genuinely passionate about raising standards for all children. That means change, and breaking the stranglehold of the complacent LEAs which sat back while schools wallowed in mediocrity.

I agree Backforgood but then I think of NHS and trident and just hope they give him some really obscure role that will have the least impact possible. Let's hope he is not Dave's replacement when he steps down in four years time.

Toomuchicecream - I'm feeling exactly the same. My heart sank at the thought of Gove returning, and I feel a bit nauseous. I think it might be the nail in the coffin of my teaching career if he did.

I reckon DC might give him health or DWP. He was focus group poison at Education or he'd still be there.

i can outright state that if Gove comes back into education (and I am just waiting for him to be wheeled out from behind the curtain soon) then it will be the last straw and I will resign teaching in the UK for good.

I don't think he will be back in Education. Not now.
I suspect he may stay where he is for now.
I'd be surprised to see him back in Education again now though. I don't think even he'd want it.
