Stupid world book day theme

My school's theme is to dress up as your favourite famous explorer (preferably from a book)

First things first, what a crap theme! I feel sorry for the poor parents trying to think of ANYONE

Can anyone think of who i could dress up as? Some staff aren't doing it because it's so hard which i think is a real shame so if anyone can help it would be much appreciated :D

Tintin is great as a character and a costume but wouldn´t occur to me as an explorer. It is a difficult theme and I imagine there will be hundreds of Doras.

Was it really World Book Day this week? I thought it was always on 23rd April??

In the end i printed out a picture of the internet explorer logo and safety pinned it to myself!
Most of the children just went as jungle explorers... although we did have a dinosaur.

Someone from the famous five. They explored Smuggler's Cove if I remember correctly.
