Poor Meghan undone by bad timing again, here she is mid relaunch / rebrand / whatever tf it is she’s doing, hard to tell, and her event of the day is ignored as Andrew snaffles all the front pages. This was an important one too, maybe even the culmination of the last few weeks as it could have / should have demonstrated that a) she has a friend, b) she experiences emotions and c) she can do empathy. Even worse, William is just about the only person coming out of the Andrew debacle with any credibility (so far), with commentary looking forward to his kingship and comparing him favourably with not just KC3 but also QE2.

Meanwhile you’ve got to wonder why H+M have always been so silent on the matter given their enthusiasm for criticising family members for much lesser misdeeds (like not making the right face when lending a lip gloss, or not being racist for that matter). Is it just that they are such big pals with the Yorks? Whatever - their silence can surely only be driven by self interest, as they are usually more than happy to spill the beans no matter the cost to others.

Ah. The big question, @NormaMajors1992coat ....
Years of dragging the RF for perceived slights and petty injustices, yet Andy and Fergie?
Tumbleweed.....
They've always been good friends with the (former) Yorks. Holidaying, socialising....
🤔

Being able to knit definitely counts and knowing where to use the word 'effect' correctly counts very highly in my marking scheme notes.

Good point, I also know when to say 'less' and when to say 'fewer'...

LaMarschallin · 19/10/2025 18:48

Ooh, well...
I know the difference between "eg" and "ie" <polishes fingernails on front>

You're taking me back now, Baital; my old geography teacher had a real thing about this and it's always stayed with me

Same with "Can I?" and "May I?" ... use the first wrongly and the reply would always be "I don't know, can you?" Grin

Andrew Lownie is on the case re Soho House, if anyone is interested “Lauren the Insider” on YouTube former PR for celebs has interviewed him, be interesting to see what comes out.

Yet Meghan thought Andrew was an assistant to the Queen…… something is definitely off.

I doubt very much whether she thought he was the Queen's assistant! She'd visited Royal Lodge and hung out with the Family Formerly Known as York.

So yet another lie?

You don't say ... and not even clever enough to make it a credible one Hmm

Andrew Lownie is doing an excellent job of bringing down the House of York. Something the Royal family should have gotten a grip of many years ago. I think all credit should go to William, it was clear to see how uncomfortable he was at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral and I think that spurred him on to sort the PA problem.

Exactly

My only reservation about this is that it seems like a bit of a vendetta, given his description of hating Andrew at school so much they used to kick him when playing against him at rugby.

Edit: Sorry, second reservation is that I'm still uncomfortable about the inclusion in his book of the story of Andrew being abused as a child.

Very much with you on that, bluegreygreen; however I'm about halfway through reading it, and TBF he actually names many of his sources - so unless they're all lying the overall picture seems more credible than many

He's been happy enough to be seen driving the scandalous uncle in the past.

Also notable that he's apparently been spurred into decisive action over appalling behaviour dragging the family's reputation into the mud while dragging his heels on rectifying the many wrongs inherent in lining his own pocket.

TheMeasure · 19/10/2025 20:53

"He's been happy enough to be seen driving the scandalous uncle in the past."

If you're referring to the drive to Balmoral immediately following the Queen's death, I think we could give him a pass on that.

If you are referring to William driving Andrew to church , he was ordered to by his father .

Not enough cars available?

OK then.

Man in his forties obeys Papa's orders?

And just a short three years later is press bombing his own plans for the top job while Papa is still very much in role?

Hmmm.

Not2identifying · 19/10/2025 21:02

I'd definitely give a pass for sharing a car to Balmoral when the Queen died but I was very surprised and disappointed when he drove Andrew to church that time and I don't think he'd do it just because Charles ordered him to. If QEII was still alive, and I think perhaps she was, I can imagine it would have been harder to refuse a request from her.

Overall, I'm inclined to say the Andrew mess wasn't his to sort out. He will have enough problems managing the Harry fallout, probably for the rest of his life.

TheMeasure · 19/10/2025 21:02

They'd just flown up from London in the same plane - having sat on the tarmac for an extended period waiting for Harry pissing them about - and you think William should have got to the car provided for them and said, "Oh, actually Andrew, we're travelling separately now because, you know, optics. What's that? Your mum's just died? Yeah, soz."

losingstill · 19/10/2025 21:04

For those of you kidding yourself that William will change things when he is king that is laughable. The RF only do what is beneficial for them the only reason this has happened with Andrew now is because of all the things that are going to come out in the book. William will only do what is beneficial to him and his children and don’t forget he has two spares to fund.

Doesn't explain the second time he did it.

You have no more idea of his plans than those you're criticising.
