Great to see that he is still supporting grass roots charities like this. And that he and Meghan haven’t forgotten the connections they made on their official visit to Nottingham.

I know someone connected to this charity and they are truly ecstatic about the financial gift itself and the publicity and recognition that it has brought to their work.

Strange that there don’t seem to be any threads about it as it happened a fortnight or so ago and I think it’s great news!

Prince Harry leaves charity 'gobsmacked' after unexpected move

That article is behind a paywall, so I have linked below the one I referenced on another thread 2 weeks ago

https://archive.ph/9wAuu

I am genuinely glad the charity has been helped.

It may be that I have become more sceptical than I should be where the Sussexes are concerned, but the timing (at least the timing of the publicity) seemed interesting in relation to the release of the Time100 Philanthropy list.

It's nice to know that he is giving money to UK charities. All he does in the US is exploit us for photo ops and disaster tourism and make us pay for his security when he feels like a trip to NYC.

Thank you very much for archiving the article

I hadn’t twigged about the pay wall!

Everyone is entitled to their individual views; I am just looking at this for what it is…a generous act.

Perhaps sometimes it’s important not to let any other considerations or agendas ( for once) get in the way of something good?

Perhaps - as I said, it probably reflects my own mindset at this point.

I am genuinely glad for your friend and the charity.

Prince Harry should be the least of your worries, imo.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 10/06/2025 10:21

Hmm. Not a huge donation by the looks of it, but plastered all over Hello magazine for the world to see.

I'm involved with a couple of charities and the most generous donors tend to want to do it anonymously in my experience.

slinkiemalinkiey · 10/06/2025 10:25

650 food parcels from a multi millionaire ??? Compare this to the people I see in supermarkets on a daily basis putting supplies into food bank boxes. 🙄 Times are tight and tough. Many ordinary people help others every single day. Eg https://knightsupport.org.uk/

Knight Support - Helping homeless people in Brighton and Hove

Knight Support - Helping homeless people and rough sleepers in Brighton & Hove through provision of essential supplies and outreach services.

Because anything positive about him or his wife gets shot down within minutes and no surprises its happened here already.

Can't believe the comments aboit how it isn't enough or big enough I mean ffs any donation should be welcomed and seen as a positive thing by all of us. It's still more than the majority of people do as many don't and not cos they can't afford too either

You must be on a much bigger budget than me if you think that is a small donation MrsBennetsPoorNerves

I dont get that people can bitch about how much was donated. When all is said and done two positive things come out of this.
1, 650 people get a meal.
2 There is more awareness and publicity about this charity so hopefully it will stay, at least in the local areas conscious and people will continue to support it.

Dorosomethingbeautiful · 10/06/2025 15:48

@MrsBennetsPoorNerves how much have you donated to charity? You are just one of those people who always find something wrong with Megan and Harry even when they are doing something good. I don’t believe for one second that you are involved in any charity, you just said that to give your comment credibility

As usual I have to explain - it's the publicity of this which is unnecessary and yes the fawning over it by fans. Charity donations are made by everyday people every day of the year and I would bet that the actual PERCENTAGE of their income is as much if not more than that of Harry's.

alwaystimeforteatime · 10/06/2025 15:58

Just reading the article and it says "The Himmah food bank said the undisclosed sum from Prince Harry will fund more than 650 much-needed food parcels..."

A quick search on their website shows food parcels cost £7-14 - so £5k to £10k... I mean it's great that they donated, but surely given their wealth this is a bit of a 'token' donation from them for publicity?

What is the actual monetary amount ? Fo you know?

Again it's about the % of it in relation to the person's income. Small change for Harry. Is it from Archewell or Harry ? I see Meghan " donated" 10,000 pounds to them from the Royal Foundation.

Of course - but if it's giving for the sake of giving and a genuinely charitable act then why is it being publicised?

slinkiemalinkiey · 10/06/2025 16:04

So if 10k about 0.02 %. Mine is 1% of my income.

The charity is very small and grass roots and only had roughly £671 in its coffers so that sum is very significant to them.

I believe the charity has publicised it.

Meghan gave a similar amount to them a while back; she wrote them a personal cheque I believe.

The money they 'give' is just a tax deductible used to generate positive PR

What a bizarre comment. It really isn't relevant, because it isn't about me, but as it happens, I do actually donate quite a lot to charity and have done so over many years. And I'm not really sure why I would bother to make things up about my own involvement in charities either. I don't really care whether you believe me or not because your opinion is just not that important to me.

And yes 650 meals is a decent donation and I'm sure that the charity is very grateful for it, but many high net worth individuals give much, much bigger donations than that, and frankly, even a £5 donation from someone on a low income would be proportionately much more significant to them than than a few thousand pounds would be to H&M. 650 meals is small change for them. Certainly not deserving of the publicity.

It seems that you've jumped to conclusions about my motivations without actually asking. I don't hate H&M but I don't love them either - I'm pretty neutral towards them tbh, so this isn't about looking to find fault. I just find the publicity for what is, in relative terms, quite a small donation from a very wealthy couple, a little OTT and somewhat distasteful. Perhaps because I'm aware of how very much more is given by others, generally without any public fanfare.
