Great to see that he is still supporting grass roots charities like this. And that he and Meghan haven’t forgotten the connections they made on their official visit to Nottingham.

I know someone connected to this charity and they are truly ecstatic about the financial gift itself and the publicity and recognition that it has brought to their work.

Strange that there don’t seem to be any threads about it as it happened a fortnight or so ago and I think it’s great news!

It would have been nice if he’d done it anonymously. I wonder why he didn’t?

A personal cheque is also tax deductible...

My first thought

I believe the charity has publicised it.

Meghan gave a similar amount to them a while back; she wrote them a personal cheque I believe.

Yes, they probably have, but it's very common for big donors to request no publicity. And H&M will no doubt be aware of this option, so if the charity is publicising it, that means that they want the publicity.

CreationNat1on · 10/06/2025 16:18

10k, win win.

Howmanychocolatebrowniestoday · 10/06/2025 16:24

I assume it’s not the only charity they donate to though?

They could be writing ten of those cheques for a similar amount to small hands-on charities?

Of course the glass half empty people on here won’t entertain that idea on principle!

Yeah it's very transparent and common with celebrities who need to rehabilitate their negative images. They've just hired new PR and their public approval ratings in the UK have never been lower.
Also, its free as its deductible from taxes they would already be paying.

Well, they may indeed be giving small donations to multiple different charities, but if that were the case, this one wouldn't be particularly newsworthy.

Most charities would publicise this kind of donation if permitted to do so, because it enables them to get their names out there/generate publicity for their cause. So either H&M have given to lots of causes but only given consent for this one to shout about it (which seems somewhat unlikely) or they haven't actually given to lots of causes after all.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the donation will be tremendously valued and well utilised. I just wouldn't expect to see publicity about a donation from H and M on this scale. Add a few zeros on to the figure, and then maybe the story would be of interest. But at this level, they won't even notice the money leaving their account.

RockaLock · 10/06/2025 16:43

Tbf, the charity will receive more (free) press coverage than they could ever have hoped for because of making this donation public.

And the press coverage increases awareness of the charity and will probably lead to donations from the general public or local businesses that they might not have otherwise got.

So I can 100% see why the charity would have chosen to publicise Harry’s donation. From their point of view, it makes good financial sense to do so.

Even if it was Harry ringing up Hello himself to tell them, it’s still good publicity for the charity and so I can’t get too worked up about this being spun as a positive PR story for Harry.

Mumof2amazingasdkiddos · 10/06/2025 17:04

OP they could have given every penny they have away and you'd still get people piling on! I'm pretty neutral about them but fair play in regards to this donation, like you say it means so much to the charity and will make a significant difference, not just this donation but the publicity the charity are wisely capitalising on

It was from the Royal Foundation.

The charity is very small and grass roots and only had roughly £671 in its coffers so that sum is very significant to them.

Edited

No one is debating the significance of the amount to the charity. I am debating the amount of it in relation to Harry's wealth and the resultant fawning for what is pocket change to him.

Exactly.

Do you remember when billionaire Prince William donated £3500 to a food bank, it was a headline news item on the BBC website and people fawned over them for their generosity?

I wonder why Harry is receiving a lot of hostility for doing similar?

His security court cases have cost the taxpayers far more money.

Livelovebehappy · 10/06/2025 17:49

Many people give to charity. Many people who are in the public eye just donate - no big fanfare or drama. But this pair always want the world to know about everything they do, despite ironically wanting to opt for a quiet and private life away from the public eye….

Ohpleeeease · 10/06/2025 17:51

This is old news isn’t it? I could have sworn this has already been posted and discussed.

So how much should he have given then?

Spectre8 · 10/06/2025 19:16

If i was famous I let charities talk about my donations if if gave them much needed free press, why wouldn't you? Its not just giving money that's important they need future donations too so need some promoting to bring attention tion to them. Isn't free press via someone famous better than having to pay for it which won't even generate the same level of clicks.

Why do you always ask such random questions? AGAIN - The amount is small as a portion of his income. The point IS AGAIN the fawning by fans over such a comparatively small amount.

It's not random. You said ' im debating the amount in relation to his wealth' so let's debate it then! Hence asking you what amount in relation to his wealth is enough?

AirBubs · 10/06/2025 21:23

650 food.parcels? 🤣🤣

That is nothing to Harry, literally peanuts, small change.

Please. This is a token.

Really want to make a difference? How about actually investing decent money, paying for a new building, staff, infrastructure, processes etc..

Harry's life has been paid for by the tax payer his whole life. He gives us a few food parcels in return? And then it's all over the media??

If he did this in secret and we never knew about it, and he did this kind of thing all the time, then sure it's nice.

But once and its in hello magazine straight away? It's a stupid stunt
