I can't believe they actually think they deserve to be listened to. As in, I can't believe they think that their contributions (to this or indeed anything other than being in the RF) are meaningful, add anything, say something that hasn't already been said by people who are actually qualified to say these things, are relevant, deserve headspace etc.
This morning my tween told me "you should definitely go to the doctor for that cough, mum, it's been going on for weeks now". She was not just factually incorrect, she doesn't know all the things she doesn't know (because she's my child and I'm protecting her), so she doesn't realise how misplaced her attempt to be kind/thoughtful was. She was also saying that while she was putting on lipgloss in front of the mirror, so heart not really in it. Thinking about it, this is actually a really good analogy. H&M are exactly like this, with the addition that the 'concern' and the lipgloss are all to make money (at least my tween, if she thought about it, really does care). There are entire departments of global corporations, of universities, anthropologists and sociologists, politicians and lobbyists, charity workers and social workers, people with entire careers in the field who know a million times better all the ins and about and intricacies and competing factors at play here. But no, Harry (I think it's mostly him in this instance) thinks it's easy and simple and all he has to say is "it's wrong, stop it" and he will have helped stop it. It's incredible, really.
