Quite want Megan to start The Tig up again, anyone else?

Ignoring everything that's been said about them, on a completely shallow surface level I quite want her to restart this and do the influencer type thing that's being bandied about. The pictures were all very pretty and I would definitely give it a visit as I love her make up and fashion choices, not that any of it would be within budget!

Duchess of America maybe. A pointless title in a country that doesn't give titles, but hey, it's very merchandisable.

As for the Tig it says she wants to look at travel, interior design and relationships! Relationships!! FFS she has no relationship with either harrys family or most of her own family and several friends now have no contact. I think I'd rather have relationship advice from Lucretia Borgia.

I have an idea she is looking at lifestyle and health blogs on the Tig, which would explain why she is merching the NuCalm stickers.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 15/08/2023 08:56

I thought you weren't engaging with me anymore? She's the Duchess of Sussex whichever country she's in, like it or not.

polkadotdalmation · 15/08/2023 09:02

Look at the time on the posts maybe? 😉

One unfair bit of criticism Meghan got recently was from a jeweller for wearing fake diamonds (as opposed to the real ones dug up by child slaves)

AliceOlive · 15/08/2023 10:03

She has plenty of real diamonds.

AliceOlive · 15/08/2023 10:03

She has plenty of real diamonds.

She wears a lot of fake ones… most of her real diamonds were gifts (or Diana’s)

polkadotdalmation · 15/08/2023 10:06

The blood diamonds from a murderous Sheik were real.

If Charles is being excoriated for knowing jimmy Saville, then knowing a gift was given by a murderer yet continuing to wear them, is a bit hypocritical

TurkeyHolidayPlanning · 15/08/2023 22:02

How would they know that any diamonds are fake?

How would they know that any diamonds are fake?

I wondered that also. And who cares?

I swear I only read most of this stuff on mumsnet, too. Usually from someone that supports MM.

LaMarschallin · 16/08/2023 07:23

The article I saw said she was wearing manmade diamonds which aren't quite the same as fakes.
I started a thread on manmade diamonds a while back on S&B which I found very interesting. Apparently a jeweller can only tell on close examination as they apparently have to have an identification number lasered on to them but they're identical chemically.
The article I read quoted a jeweller saying it was cheating (I think that was how it was put) to wear manmade.
They're cheaper than mined diamonds so I shouldn't imagine that jewellers would be wholly in favour of them.
The information I got from the thread and elsewhere definitely made me think they're a good thing as there aren't the labour problems associated with mined and, of course, you get more bling for your buck!

Tippley · 16/08/2023 07:41

She's still relying on having married a Prince rather than doing anything notable and being successful herself. I think when they left the RF was the time to establish a 'brand' and set the direction, The Tig would have been popular I'm sure back then if they'd gone down that road rather than telling alternate versions of their truth which proved them to be liars.

As is now brands don't want to associate with her (even the $3 wellness patch brand came out to say no we didn't work with her to promote this), celebs don't trust them, her clothes are often ill fitting and hair and make up is hit and miss. She worked hard previously to curate an image on her blog which she's dismantled herself through the various interviews etc she's done. To be successful as an influencer you have to have brands wanting to collab and support your work, if you can have input from others keen to associate you that's great, and you have to have something interesting to say- even if that's what to wear when you always look great. Does she?

Totally agree! Nothing to criticise her for imho

I like Meghan’s style. She wears a casual look effortlessly. And I’ve seen her dressed beautifully for the evening. I like that sometimes she wears her hair up in an imperfect bun. One of my favourite night looks for her, was when she was pregnant with Archie and she wore a large white shirt, crossed over in front tucked into a long black high waisted skirt.

Meghan Markle took her maternity style to the red carpet in a high-waisted Givenchy skirt

The Duchess of Sussex walked the red carpet alongside Prince Harry, who wore a dark-gray suit with black accessories.

But this look was ‘the coolest evening look ever’ lol. Bit of hyperbole - but dress was really lovely I thought, and she looked lovely wearing it. Bird Dress

Meghan Markle Just Wore the Coolest Evening Gown with Birds All Over It

RIP to my jaw, which is on the floor.

The bird dress is gorgeous, but a $6k plus dress probably wouldn't be a big hit for a blog- most won't be able to afford it and those who do will have their own connections or established places to look. The shirt and skirt combo is fine, but the skirt would look better sitting a bit lower especially from the front. She looks great in both of them, but amongst the masses of women who already have blogs, social media and who know a lot about style and fashion not sure how it really sticks out much.

Morestrangerthings1 · 16/08/2023 08:49

Having said that I like Meghan’s, I’ve been doing a bit of reading on the climate crisis. Fossil Fuels are the biggest offender as we know, but the fashion industry comes in second place. And it not just cheaper fashion, I’ve found. Although they do have the most negative impact. High fashion has a very significant negative impact too. And that was the but that surprised me.

The Royal Fashion thread posters are going to hate me for this - but princesses & celebs, are well placed to re-wear their clothes. Not just an occasional repeat. They should wear those clothes a lot! Change them up sure, with different accessories etc., but people should be seen to be repeating their clothes without newspapers prompting that they are re-wearing clothes. Anne’s been doing it for years apparently - and good on her for doing so. They could be a force for good, in this regard, for climate change, and not actually have to do much at all. Kate wearing the hired green dress to Earthshot awards Kate- green recycled dress. Different eye look. was a great idea. I lived her look that night. Her eye makeup was fab.

It’s hard to tell the men to wear new clothes less often, because I think most of them probably do. I can tell a suit is well made but couldn’t ever tell if it had been worn once or twenty times.

I won’t say any more about fashion, will leave it to the mumsnetters RF fashion threads professionals.

Is It Just Us, or Is Kate Middleton Taking Bolder Beauty Risks? - POPSUGAR Australia

Yep you are probably right.

But I wasn’t talking about Meghan blogging. I’m not going to suggest how Harry and Meghan should earn money. (I have no idea of where their interests lie, other than charities they support). And that Harry likes polo.( I’m not a fan of polo - it’s too hard on the horses that I can see, and I don’t Iike horse racing - for the same reason).

MrsFiddle · 16/08/2023 11:05

You really don't want to step backwards in life do you as in going back to the Tig? It was" in a time and a place " but certain aspects of it she has contradicted now as her life has evolved. It must be difficult to know what direction to take - acting was always limited, podcasts have been done, writing children's books etc. I understand that like any other person in the public eye they were trying to catch the crest of the wave with opportunities but it feels like that time has passed now.

onlylarkin · 23/08/2023 18:28

"As is now brands don't want to associate with her (even the $3 wellness patch brand came out to say no we didn't work with her to promote this)"

I don't believe that them saying they didn't work with her is not sayingng they don't want to work with her.

I am guessing this company is having a large payout from her wearing their patch. Which will show all companies that she is worth the risk.

AliceOlive · 23/08/2023 21:53

agreed @onlylarkin

I totally looked it up!

From Dior to $3 patches?

Don't worry, she still wears Dior, plus the patches.
