So he’s called it ‘Spare’ and it’s being released on 23rd Jan.

Already there were pictures of him in the paper grabbing a pretty blonde producer or staff of I’m a Celeb, from behind very playfully. It looked very flirtatious and just not right for any married man to be doing.

I was convinced the blonde woman was Zara 😅the gesture looked a bit intimate. Definitely not a good look on MT.

Arnaquer · 07/11/2022 22:23

He is completely out of order. I'd like to see him pulled up on it at least, but that won't happen.
It's irrelevant how short her shirts are, he has no right to grab her like that whilst she is at work

Coronateachingagain · 07/11/2022 22:29

Wait until Harry and Megs make an appearance in I'm a celebrity when they run out of gigs! (Or the equivalent American one)

Roussette

You are misunderstanding my post, somewhat. I'm making the point that he isn't behaving properly as a married man, especially as, in my view, if your legs are bare all the way up to the top of the thigh and someone grabs you from behind, your bare skin will touch their clothing and perhaps their hands or legs, and it may feel intrusive and uncomfortable to you.

I'm not disagreeing with you?

Could you look at my subsequent posts where I said 'ahh I understand now'

I wasn't the only poster who wondered why you were commenting on her short shorts but as you can see, all is clear now. But thank you for your further explanation 😊

NO idea what MT is getting at but saying on British TV that his wife and him like getting smashed up is not very classy is it? Either he's going rogue or Zara and him are doing this to put pressure on PC and PW. Or are they trying to come across like normal people?

Diverseopinions · 08/11/2022 08:40

Trying to come across as normal people for sure, but a high-risk strategy. It used to work for Harry, admittedly. Before he married, and when younger, he was admired by many for being 'normal' and supposedly relatable.

I think the danger for anyone being filmed 24/7 is immense, but more so, when you are to a degree privileged and there's a risk that some of your comments and how you join them up, during those long discussions round the fire, might come across. It's the bigger picture which is the issue, exposing any unrelatable assumptions and attitudes, which will be hard to back peddle away from.

If you stay several weeks, the risk of putting your foot in it is greater. If you leave early, your diamond geezer credentials are bashed and you look a bit irrelevant. Mike Tindall and Zara are popular already, so I don't see the PR advantage in doing this.

He's a rugby player, of the type that celebrates a win by "going out for a quiet pint ........ followed by a dozen noisy ones"

And Zara's wild phase isn't exactly secret either.

Croque · 08/11/2022 10:03

Rugby Players 🙄I once befriended the girlfriend of a professional rugby player (All Blacks or London Irish, can't recall) and she was utterly miserable but utterly obsessed with him in extreme measures. She never seemed to have anything to say which was not about him It was "Giles this, Giles that" all day long. The final straw is when we went shopping for clothes and she bought a wardrobe's worth of designer tat for him and nothing for herself. It was insufferable.

Gilmorehill · 08/11/2022 17:52

Heavy drinking is very much the culture in rugby. My two dcs played until U-18s. Even when in primary school, it was a tradition to have post - match downing races, where someone from each team would down a pint of squash, in preparation for downing pints of beer later on. From mid teens, drinking while on tour is actively encouraged. I remember one team visiting us and this 15 year old was lying on the field during warm up. Everyone thought it was hilarious that he was too hungover to play. This is the environment MT grew up in.

Roussette · 08/11/2022 21:35

In my early 20s I had a second job for years working in a well known Rugby club's bar. The drinking and lad culture was totally OTT but we are talking the late 70s....a different time. I saw more stripped off prop forwards, looseheads and hookers than you can imagine after drinking games ...a different era

One thing I will say....on match days it was totally raucous with the visiting team in the bar too and of course they would be trying it on with us and the home team were always really protective of us two barmaids and had our backs, looking after us.

No idea if it's better or worse now

It's amazing how much kudos there is in being a victim

upinaballoon · 09/11/2022 07:26

Why is this thread entitled 'Spare - Harry's book', but these posts are about Mike Tindall, when there is a separate thread about him being in a jungle?

Not 100% sure of this but it happens a lot on Royal Family threads. People bring up other members. I think it keeps it interesting. I think the thread on Mike Tindal is now mainly about Boy George and Roman Polanski.

People just derail the thread - for their own reasons.... good points made up thread about the Spare book by the spare with spare time though.

Not sure they are getting any kudos, they are getting certainly paid though, so they can continue to afford their lifestyle and multi million mansion

Already half price to pre order so sales must be quite small. I bet William and Kate have a few more kids and push him back down the ranks a bit.

Big releases are frequently half price in hardback. It’s entirely normal - I got the new Richard Osman half price last week.

I love his books .
Apologies for derail !

PicturesOfDogs · 17/11/2022 09:27

I think it’s going to be a massive seller, purely because of the controversy.

I don’t think people are that interested in Harry tbh, if it were a sort of growth book, or a book purely about building their new life, there wouldn’t be this interest.

But people love a scandal. I sad it on another thread, but it’s like a soap opera. Westenders.
People are craving the latest instalment.

I think the book was a bad idea, because you can only ‘tell all’ until you’ve told it all. Then what’s left? The interest will only last as long as the gossip does.

Blip · 17/11/2022 11:25

I don't think it will sell well unless it contains some huge "truth bombs" - H&M become less interesting as time passes.

PicturesOfDogs · 17/11/2022 11:29

I think it must contain truth bombs, otherwise what’s the point of it?

That’s literally the only thing people care about, and I’m not sure Harry realises that tbh.

I do think that it will sell reasonably well. However, I expect most of the money will be made on media serialisations. It's not the sort of book people will read for the quality of the prose, however acclaimed the writer may be. People will read it in the hope of juicy royal scandal, and once they've heard about that from social media or the press, there may not be a great incentive to pay for the actual book.

Nor am I convinced that there will be much by way of 'explosive revelations'. The publishers' legal team will very likely have gone through the book in great detail. I also think it would have made much more of an impact two years ago. Especially after the Oprah interview, there's a lot less curiosity about them than there was immediately after they 'left'. The world has moved on since then, but I'm not sure Harry has.

MarshaMelrose · 17/11/2022 13:09

I think it will sell very well indeed. Isn't it topping the pre-sale charts already? People will pore over it to find digs at the RF even when there isn't one. But I'm sure the publishers did background work about what he'd include so there are bound to be a series of revelations about how awful his life has been and how his family and being royal contributed to that. I'm sure the people who like him and anti-monarchists will love the book. I guess it depends on the tone and type of revelations that will decide what others think.

But who will serialise it ? They have very strong views about the British press so hard to see who they would want to serialise it .
January is a strange time to release a book .Surely the Christmas market would have been much more lucrative? Most people will be watching their money after Christmas.
