Mike Tindall - I'm a Celebrity

Arnaquer · 12/10/2022 03:25

Rumours circulating that he's signed up for the next series of I'm a Celebrity.
I know he and Zara have to make their own money but I find this tasteless and tacky.
Puts me in mind of the Royal It's a Knockout.
Surely they can't be that desperate for cash?

I'm sorry you've been a victim of assault WahineToa and I'm sorry if you think I sound insensitive. I do wonder of there's some projecting going on though.

If the person involved or any bystanders thought anyone had been assaulted I have no doubt regardless of who he is, he'd have been chucked out and investigations commenced. Since MeToo it just isn't tolerated anymore.

This is one of the most naive posts I think I have ever read on here.

'This is one of the most naive posts I think I have ever read on here.'

You think famous sportspeople and royalty get away with alleged assaults because of who they are? Don't you watch the news or read the papers?

Yes, yes I do. Tell me, which Court was Andrew cross examined in? That's right - none, because mummy paid them off.

Do you recall the case where a creepy middle aged DJ put his hand up Taylor Swift's skirt - while a photo was being taken?! It did not come to light because the already successful Taylor Swift felt able to challenge him. No, she quietly decided to never work with him again - and he sued her for this! That is how confident and entitled middle aged men feel to grope women in public.

The women is this photo is not a music star, she has no capital, power or standing whatsoever. All she can do is laugh along then cry in the toilets. It is happening all the time, in every work place. 'Me too' did sweet fanny adams.

Try talking to attractive young women and find out how men with power treat them - you are so so naive about the reality of navigating the world for young women.

Rhondaa · 07/11/2022 17:04

'you are so so naive about the reality of navigating the world for young women'

I'm not talking about 'navigating the world for young women'.

I am saying that in this situation if an assault had taken place, regardless of who he is, his contract would have been terminated and he'd have been sent home. Some posters are stating categorically it was assault and he's got away with it because he's a rugby player and a member of the rf, which I would suggest is bollocks.

lightand · 07/11/2022 17:08

@Janiie Your standards of acceptable behaviour are very low.

WahineToa · 07/11/2022 17:35

I do wonder of there's some projecting going on though.

So you apologise for being insensitive and thru you write this disgusting sentence? So now you can dismiss me because I’ve been a victim of assault. Disgusting. Truly disgraceful.

WahineToa · 07/11/2022 17:37

in this situation if there is no if. His hand is on her breast and butt. There is no ‘if’.

Let the woman involved decide if she has been assaulted or not. My point was, regardless of who he is action would be taken if accusations are made.

SirChenjins · 07/11/2022 19:00

Absolute bollocks would action be taken.

Why do you say that?

You know this is ITV who had their no.1 star Ant suspended for a year (or was it 2) after his drunk driving crime. I just can't see how if a woman said she was groped they'd say 'nah he's royalty nowt we can do'. Seriously.

HeadNorth · 07/11/2022 19:46

Well, considering how reluctant you are to consider it assault, I am sure STV would take a similar line & choose placating a member of the RF they've paid a great wodge to appear over some powerless young woman. He knows fine well he is perfectly safe, hence his smug groping in plain sight. Grim as.

Yes I think that.

Look at Larry Nassar, look at Barry Bennell. Reputable sports trainers. Time and time and time again athletes reported sexual assault, it took YEARS for them to be listened to.

George Gibney...20 cases of assault, he got away with it and fled to the US.
Prince Andrew paid off his victim courtesy of Mummy

MT is in an extremely fortunate position of being protected under the RF media umbrella of stories being quashed in exchange for a pretty picture of the Cambridge's with their children or whatever. The only reason PA got the press after him was because he went TOO far.
MT can do what he wants within reason.
What a fool he is, he can't behave for even a day.

Totally agree. Its an uphill battle reporting abuse or inappropriate behaviour.
The power balance in this case is too big

SirChenjins · 07/11/2022 20:43

Precisely as @HeadNorth said.

Rich, powerful, well connected men have no problem securing protection from pesky groping allegations. It’s why they continue to do.

MrsTumblebee · 07/11/2022 20:50

derxa · 07/11/2022 12:43

You're damn right about that. I would defend anyone against scurrilous gossip. I would also defend Harry and Meghan against nasty ill founded gossip.

Well said.

antelopevalley · 07/11/2022 11:15

@Croque What proof could anyone offer? Various people in their circle have publicly said it is true. But unless you have photos of a couple having sex then there is never actual proof of an affair. There is often though evidence.

Which people?

.

Giuffre was trafficked to Prince Andrew at least three times when she was 17 in 2001 for rape.

Andrew only got away with it for 18 years or so.

Dustyblue · 08/11/2022 04:37

This ITV staff member has been victimised to ridiculous levels. Yes, the optics point to a woman being manhandled and dealing with it as best as she can- which is awful and unfair. But I challenge that she can't do a thing about it b/c MT is MT.

Of course she can- she could say to any of her higher ups "Did you see that? Think I'll stay away from that one". She could threaten to quit and do it loudly. Yes there is absolutely a power imbalance, but that doesn't render her a helpless child.

Many of us have dealt with men like this, or worse than this by far. I just don't think that sort of rhetoric helps.

Lampzade · 08/11/2022 06:45

Sorry , but I think that MT is a creepy fucker who hides his real self beneath a facade of joviality.
I think that we will see the real MT in the upcoming weeks

Lampzade · 08/11/2022 06:56

Btw . There are some wilfully ignorant posters on this thread who have obviously have little
knowledge about what constitutes a sexual assault.

Really makes my blood boil

Challenge away - you’re still wrong. The power imbalance here means that she will get precisely nowhere with a complaint. It’s interesting that you’re placing the responsibility for dealing with this at her door - why should she keep away from him? The TV production company should be dealing with this very publicly, but of course they won’t. He’s the one responsible for the groping, the onus is on him to keep away from women if he can’t stop touching their breasts - not the other way about. Threaten to quit?! OK love, the door’s that way - don’t let it hit you on the way out. Next candidate please!

XanaduKira · 08/11/2022 09:12

Sadly I completely agree @SirChenjins.

WahineToa · 08/11/2022 09:23

Correct. They don’t need a complaint from her to deal with it either.

XanaduKira · 08/11/2022 09:37

That's very true @WahineToa - they can see it with their own eyes. She shouldn't actually need to complain at all.

Hopefully they are dealing with it privately - I'm not sure I agree with dealing with it publicly as I imagine she doesn't want the publicity (although maybe that's just me but i'd hate to handle it in any kind of public way) but i really hope they're showing her the duty of care that she deserves.
