@OppsUpsSide - the ability to use facts to form opinions. Like, for example, the helpful functionality on this site that allows you to look at people's posting history on both MM and topics like racism to form conclusions about their actual opinions, even when they state that they "just don't like her" for reasons utterly unconnected to her race. Statements like "I don't like Islam" for example, or deny that the depiction of the apes in Jungle Book is racist.
Bit worrying you're a teacher, tbh.
You can search a posters history and you will find differing opinions on a wide range of subjects. You are of course free to make a judgement/assumption on that person. However, if the post still stands then it obviously doesn't break MN guidelines on racism/xenophobia and maybe your judgement or assumption is incorrect.
Using your example of 'I don't like Islam' does that mean your thought process has bridged the massive chasm and come to the assumption/conclusion that this therefore must mean that a person dislikes all Muslims?. I feel sad for you if that is your mindset. That type of assumption is offensive, dangerous and libellous if you are stating that as fact on a public forum.
The MM/PH is nothing new, we saw it with Brexit for example, you voted the 'wrong way' you are labelled a racist. It's tedious.
I would certainly question who has fallen into what trap.
I have said before that in my opinion there will be a massive kick back against this labelling, cancelling and othering people for just having a different opinion. We are are very much going backwards at the moment.
