I can’t understand how many people write supportive, indeed GUSHING, comments on their Instagram. Don’t people see through them? Why the adulation? Smh.

7Penguins · 20/03/2020 19:24

cat indeed, but also the assumption that the only pre-qualifying conditions for one to become a counsellor are boredom and loneliness. Wtf.

ButteryPuffin · 20/03/2020 19:30

Just saw this and thought of posters here! I am SO doing this.

BelleharePenguin09 · 20/03/2020 19:36

Oh god, they really are desperate.

RosesandIris · 20/03/2020 19:37

I have got to stop reading the posts on their Instagram. It’s giving me high blood pressure.
The Queen needs to do something now. She needs to tell them to take down their Instagram and shut up. They wouldn’t listen though.
They are a runaway train. The thing is, she is talking to herself. She’s bored and doesn’t know what to do with herself, so she’s trying to counsel all their fans and followers. It’s such an insulting proposition that someone could do an online training and then counsel people in distress.
She has no grip on reality.

LittleBearPad · 20/03/2020 19:41

I’ve unfollowed them on Instagram. They won’t notice but it felt good! Fucking muppets

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 20/03/2020 19:45

I don’t have Instagram luckily otherwise I’d probably combust.

LittleBearPad · 20/03/2020 19:51

What’s going to completely undo them is the realisation about how completely irrelevant they are.

Winterlife · 20/03/2020 19:53

@catinb0oots Personally I don’t believe I have to train at all. I’m highly empathetic. Why would I require years of formal training, or even a few weeks of online training, to help people deal with complex MH issues? (/s)

Alsgirl · 20/03/2020 19:57

Off topic did anyone else see that poor nurse distraught because she couldn't find food? FGS Mumsnet can we not use our collective experience/nouse/contacts to make sure there's always something?!! I know many of the big boys are opening at special hours for NHS staff but if your hours don't match and the shelves are empty can we not organise some sort of fallback NHS national food bank? Me and mine would gladly sacrifice a tin of tomatoes/beans/packet of pasta from a shop so surely, surely we can support our frontline NHS staff even if we forego a meal. Mumsnet ideas please!

StartupRepair · 20/03/2020 20:06

My deep irritation with H and M is a great diversion from huge anxiety about every other aspect of life so I am grateful for their self serving vacuousness as it gives me something to focus on.

DandyPenguin · 20/03/2020 20:19

Alsgirl That is one hell of an off-topic with no lead-up or context!

Could you warn what’s it about first please so those of who need to can stop reading? This is a light-hearted topic in a corona world.

I’m self-isolating, I apparently have CV-19 according to doctor, I’m trying to manage my anxiety and your post has caused it to rise.

Were you trying to put people off posting here?!

lizzie1970a · 20/03/2020 20:22

It's so clearly M writing this: "...because right now we need to hear good things, right?" I hate that "right?" at the end of a sentence. She said it in the Africa interview when she said something like "It's not enough just to survive, right?" I can't explain why it annoys me - is it needy, as in seeking agreement and getting you onboard with what they're saying or a bit patronising? It's too familiar and takes independent thought away. When someone says "right?" like that it is as if they're assuming your agreement so it is harder to disagree.

So airy fairy - we need to hear good things right now, just ridiculous and simplistic nonsense.

Dandy is right, she's a social media influencer. She married into the RF to further her profile, she was never going to stay.

ButteryPuffin · 20/03/2020 20:23

Alsgirl Good thinking but it might need its own thread starting to discuss?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/03/2020 20:24

Keep safe, DandyPenguin - hope it isn't CV, but that if it is you'll be fully recovered very soon Flowers

Alsgirl · 20/03/2020 20:28

Dandy no not at all my apologies. I've been following/contributing/lurking and am aware there are some very wise and intelligent people on this thread. If I broke any protocol I do apologise. I'll sink back into the murk.

DandyPenguin · 20/03/2020 20:35

Was just coming on to apologise and seen your new message Alsgirl Flowers

Please don't sink back into the murk. It's a fantastic idea, I should have written what ButteryPuffin wrote - idea for a new thread.

Sorry without going into personal details I've just had a very stressful hour and my anxiety has been terrible all week, so I've been very careful what threads I look at! Just doing this one and a CV symptoms one for now (because reading other other people say that it feels like an elephant is sitting on their chest too is oddly soothing right now Blush Grin)

DandyPenguin · 20/03/2020 20:37

Also without going OT or into forbidden territory, I am aware that there have been times there have been people on here these sorts of threads with, ahem, agendas, and people aren't always as they seem. So I over-reacted.

I do recognise your poster name. Apologies again. x

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 20/03/2020 20:39

dandy big safe from a distance internet hugs for you, I do hope you feel better soon. If not, may I recommend the Sussex Royal insta account as a source of light relief?!! xx

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 20/03/2020 20:47

dandy wish you better soon Flowers

Alsgirl · 20/03/2020 20:48

Buttery thank you that's really what I wanted to know but also I wanted to draw the attention of the amazing posters on this thread. Dandy I think I previously wished you and all other poorly posters well. I truly hope you feel better soon and that I haven't caused any harm to penguins everywhere.

7Penguins · 20/03/2020 20:49

Alsgirl a new thread is a good idea, though I think anything mentioning CV is immediately moved to the dedicated board, so probably best to put it there. If you create one, share the link, and ofc de-lurk and join in the HAM discussions more. Smile

Dandy Cake

may I recommend the Sussex Royal insta account as a source of light relief

RosesandIris · 20/03/2020 20:52

lizzie I noticed the 'right?' as well . It made me grind my teeth in irritation.

Alsgirl · 20/03/2020 20:52

Dandy no problem my mistake Blush

StartupRepair · 20/03/2020 20:59

@lizzie1970a I know, right?
