Delurking to wish DandyPenguin a swift and speedy recovery Flowers

Still, I suppose they are still giving us something to think about other than Covid19. Any distraction's a good 'un at the moment

Good to hear that you are getting at least some value from them. Covid19 has done the opposite for me - brought into sharp focus the question of their usefulness to our society. I am back to weighing up the use of any of them relative to the unfairness of their lives at our expense. I haven’t seen much of anything from them at this difficult time. Hmmm.

BarleylemonPenguin I think the severity of the coronavirus pandemic and the sudden harsh realities of life as we know it being affected in every way, has caused a lot of anger towards the royals when they start pontificating on the situation. It really does show how irrelevant, out of touch and shielded from all realities of life they are. When you have HMQ issuing a few tired old paragraphs about British grit etc etc, M&H threatening to post uplifting stories and W&K asking people to stump up for the charity they support - it’s not going to spark joy. Knowing the worst it’s going to get for them is not being able to attend the events they had scheduled, is little comfort for the rest of society.

A lot of comments on M&H and W&Ks Instagram have been pointing all this out to them. Especially on M&Hs. Gone are the days and the generation who feel spurred on to get through national disaster by a few paragraphs saying we are good at getting through national disasters and that these are difficult times etc etc.

Agree, Rose. He has a nerve if he thinks that’s an option. He’s made his bed and all that.

7Penguins · 20/03/2020 09:48

threatening to post uplifting stories

🤣

BelleharePenguin09 · 20/03/2020 09:49

I noticed the blinking too. I think blinking can signify that someone is lying too. Not suggesting he is, just saying..

Am expecting Meghan to start posting healthy, immune boosting recipes on their Insta at any moment and a daily yoga pose of the day to maintain mental and physical equilibrium. It’s the only thought getting me through this right now.

Each day the TVaudiences vote for a challenge ie eating spam fritters and having to budget on £94 per week.

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 20/03/2020 10:24

There isn't much any of them can say that will be of any use. HMQ excepted, because she still is the monarch and figurehead.

The most important message for everyone is not to hoard and be greedy so that everyone has access to food and essential supplies. Be frugal in shopping and eating habits so there is enough to go around. Watch out for vulnerable people in need.

That's not a message which the RF are in a position to deliver with any credibility.

The irony is I bet she would be really good at this.

At the Commonwealth service she was going round hugging and touching people, in contravention of the latest protocol that everyone else was observing - HM, PC, Archbishop of C (?) etc.

She'd be the last one I'd want to trust with health advice.

7Penguins · 20/03/2020 10:42

What if HAM are deliberately posting naff stuff to keep people’s minds off the pandemic? 🤔

I did chuckle at someone recommending they do social media distancing.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/03/2020 11:08

Placemarking for if anything new crops up ...

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 20/03/2020 11:39

Very good point, lidoshuffle.

The new Hilaria Baldwin?

DandyPenguin · 20/03/2020 13:48

Yes she would be good at those piste.

And that’s the crux of it imo - she wants to be and was and is in her essence a social media influencer. That’s her goal. Some inspo, some charity, some merching, a lot of followers, erg few rules.

DandyPenguin · 20/03/2020 13:51

@lidoshuffle yes very good point. She broke the rules. That wasn’t on at all and she should be called out for that. Again it’s a case of her not applying the rules to herself. She probably wouldn’t have liked it if it was her child who’d been hugged by someone who was touching many others in a crowded public place.

BarleylemonPenguin · 20/03/2020 14:03

...that we have to pay through the nose for. She’s played a blinder and very nearly pulled it off except for the fact that people have seen through her.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/03/2020 14:42

there has been a suggestion that PW temporarily takes over given that PC is 70+

I hadn't seen this, but apparently Charles was with Albert of Monaco a few days ago, and Albert's since come down with Cyrus the Virus

It goes without saying nobody would actively wish ill health on him, but it would certainly shake things up a bit should anything happen to Charles ...
