A question about Harry and Meghan and photos etc.

I know, we have hardly had any threads on this Wink. But I was just wondering whilst reading the BBC.
It says H&M have issued a warning to the media over pics published of her out walking the dogs and baby. ( I had a google, saw the pictures).
Now, apparently the photographers, those sneaky chaps, were hiding in the bushes. She had two security guards with her, surely its their job to keep her safe? This surprised me, I think I’d be annoyed if someone could lurk in bushes and I had paid security with me.
Also, she appears to be looking directly at the cameras and smiling. She is certainly smiling directly in the direction of the cameras. And smiling quite a bit, not just an inane smile as I might have whilst out daydreaming/ walking. It seems as though she knew they were there. If it was Jo Bloggs just taking a photo to show his mum would that be allowed?
Even the security seem to be looking right at the cameras.
Also, is it illegal to just take a picture of people? People take photos of celebrities/ the royals all the time. And sometimes post them/ sell them, and it has never been mentioned. If someone took a picture of me walking down the street and sold it, could I stop them?!
Surely celebs are snapped all the time? When they want and when they don’t want?

It wasn’t suing, just a warning over the photos?
I really can’t believe that she would tip off the paps. She just wouldn’t. They must have followed her, which is weird enough!

But I don't doubt she tipped the photographer off as why on earth would a pap be hiding up a tree in a national park on the off chance sge might go for a walk there.

They have dogs so presumably it is likely to be somewhere she walks quite regularly and at roughly predictable times. Not to hard to post a photographer there if there's a good chance she will show up most days between x time and y time.

KayakingOnDown · 21/01/2020 22:14

the newspapers agreed not to buy the pictures any longer.

This is correct.

Far more privacy was accorded to Harry and Meghan in the UK than they will get in North America.

And of course the photo is staged. How else is she going to make money? This was all part of the plan.

pallisers · 21/01/2020 22:19

goodness she was paid to wear the carrier - that is amazing. Where do you read this - I can't find it anywhere.

LizzieSiddal · 21/01/2020 22:44

How else is she going to make money
😂

She’s not Katie Price. They are both millionaires in their own right and don’t need to be selling pap shots to anyone.

Why on earth would Meghan Markle need to call the paparazzi to arrange shots for money, that's something the likes of Kerry Katona, Daniella Westbrook do. She does not need the money.

FromEden · 21/01/2020 22:50

Sounds crazy to us but that kind of money really isnt that impressive in the world of oprah, the Clinton's, Clooney's and Russian oligarchs etc.

DartmoorChef · 21/01/2020 22:51

It's a national park, it's a fair drive from where she is living, which incidentally has its own grounds the size of your average park..

ThroughTheRoses · 21/01/2020 22:52

she does not need the money

I agree. I think it's the attention that she craves.

DartmoorChef · 21/01/2020 22:52

She does not need the money

Maybe not but she craves attention

Needmorecaffine · 21/01/2020 22:59

If they'd gone away quietly with a small joint announcement by them & Queen and not do a major flounce press would t be so intrigued.

They are fair game now as ' private self funded citizens ' with no royal PR to help out.

StuckBetweenDarknessAndLight · 21/01/2020 23:08

I wonder if she tipped off the paps and Harry didn't know hence the warning. He's the one that seems to want the privacy of their new life. I'm not sure she's on board with that one.

Notthebloodygym · 21/01/2020 23:17

I think that, regardless, the behaviour of the press is disgusting. I just don't see how anyone reasonable can justify chasing and hounding a couple who have expressed mental health concerns, who have a new child, and one of whose parents was killed in this way. Utterly shocking.

I wonder if they actually thought "quitting" the Royal Family would mean the press left them alone? Any fool could guess that this move would only increase press scrutiny - except they wouldn't have the gentleman's agreement that British press formulated with the Royal Family after Diana's death, and they wouldn't have the protection they had as senior royals.

It all smacks to me of throwing your toys out the pram. If it doesn't go his way he sues (maybe that's the American way of life rubbing off on him). Surely someone told him the foreign reds would be on their backs for a while?

Maybe they should have just done what Camilla did and persevered through the hard times and eventually prove their worth. All this nonsense has only exacerbated scrutiny on them

CilantroChili · 22/01/2020 01:09

Not sure Piers Morgan (amongst others) got that gentlemen’s agreement memo
Best of luck to the Mountbatten-Windsor family- I think they have made a good call

PerspicaciaTick · 22/01/2020 01:19

I can't help wondering if the press will use this as a chance to make it entirely explicit to H&M how little control they now have over their privacy.
M gets photographed.
H&M issue warning to press to stop.
Press shrug and say "you and whose army?"

MashedSpud · 22/01/2020 01:27

When I’ve visited Canada, they had newspapers, many of them. I’m guessing this means they also have paparazzi.

Perhaps they should ask Sir Richard Branson if they can move to his private island? Then Meghan can smile widely at trees in peace.

RonaldMcDonald · 22/01/2020 01:28

We don’t know that they’ve quit for good
They are currently suing the Sun, the Mirror and the Mail - all of whom have behaved really terribly toward them
They are also going to have to face the grotesque farce of the Markle father and grim semi sibling
It makes sense that they do this to protect themselves and the Monarchy whilst this goes on. It will get far far worse before it gets better
Harry was very clear that he had suffered too much for too long. His case will be dreadful. The Markle case will be a circus and those papers lie and lie and lie

If there was an arrangement where they were treated fairly I could see them working as senior royals again
This has happened because of the rags we consume as news in the U.K.

stellabelle · 22/01/2020 01:38

The house where they are living has spacious grounds - all very secure- so I don't get why she had to take the dogs away to a public park. Unless she wanted to be seen .

wowfudge · 22/01/2020 05:57

So she should stay under a kind of self-imposed house and garden arrest and not go out at all? What rot. Honestly, the crap I have read on MN over the past couple of weeks.

She looks quite awkward and stressed. Really don't know how she will deal with the photographers who will continue to follow her wherever she goes.
