Bet it's not strapless.

Waswondering- I am 100% with you! I kicked myself after I got married that I didn't have it copied.

NorthernLurker · 19/11/2010 18:18

I'm sure it will be a Britsh designer. V bad politics otherwise.

I like this yevonde

Royal wedding dresses need to be a bit over the top, or else they look wrong to the cameras in the Very Grand setting. Prince William will presumably be in his blues, and all around will be gold braid, red robes and ermine.

So simple strapless/drape (like her usual style) won't cut it. She''ll need to glam up. Ivory lace would be a good choice, as you could have a stunning, close fitting dress with high neck and narrow sleeves, more volume at the back, and still attach a veil and yards of train.

Grown up bridesmaids could wear a simpler version, though I'm not sure what you'd put littlies and pageboys in.

As we will all be paying for it, I suggest it goes to a vote.

Something very respectable. Ivory coloured silk.
Not strapless..certainly not....thats tacky and not done to have bare shoulders for a wedding, especially in church and especially in Westminster Abbey !
....Its tasteless and cheap.
I think she will have something very flowing with light, almost transparent sleeves, buttoned with pearls....and pearls all the way up the back of her dress. Flowers in her hair as she wanted with a bouquet to match.
Bridesmaid in similar colour...not a dark colour. Dark bridesmaids dresses is maybe ok in the winter.

Please, please a very, very, very loooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnng train!

I think she will take inspiration from princess elizabeth's wedding day. there have been lots of rumours about her wearing the queen's wedding tiara.

So there will be a 40's feel with rita hayworth long hair, neat, fitted shoulder pads - not the horrible slopey ones sophie-rhys jones wore.
Definitely lace, perhaps an overdress over a v-necked dress in <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01165/Midd-280_1165400a.jpg&imgrefurl=thesun.mobi/sol/homepage/news/3230700/Kate-Middleton-finally-gets-her-Prince-William.html%3Fmob%3D1&usg=__amobuVkh07lIN-C7OXmIJZSnLrc=&h=502&w=280&sz=32&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=odtOMkHu2c52yM:&tbnh=135&tbnw=89&ei=loq4TaHrN8Kw8QPl6aAg&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dkate%2Bmiddleton%2Bboxing%2Bball%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D1003%26bih%3D415%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=809&vpy=3&dur=46&hovh=301&hovw=168&tx=116&ty=155&page=1&ndsp=11&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">the slinky style she usually wears

I think quite a long veil, not a train - quite filmy and light and lacey. she wants to make a statement and she has ordered lots of light and airy trees and flowers for the abbey, so may follow in that ethereal vein.....

I don't think sleeves make you look 'old'.

I still think it will be something like this, with a nod to Diana somewhere.

I think it might eb a McQueen dress. Something quite sculpted. Anyway, I reckon she will look amazingly beautiful.

I can not wait Grin

Psammead · 28/04/2011 14:28

On the other thread I said

this

And I am sticking with it. A longer train and a little less lace, perhaps. But it would show off her waist, is in her slightly old-fadhioned style, is substantial enough for the abbey, but quite unusual too.

ilovetomandjerry · 28/04/2011 14:37

I think something like Princess Margaret's dress - very simple and understated, no lace, but quite a long train.

Skifit · 29/04/2011 20:00

I was kind of right. She wore almost see through sleeves with pearls down the back. Something light and flowing. She looked beautiful didnt see ?
I loved the lace on her sleeves.

How could people think she might wear back less or strapless... are you kidding !!
