Cats do have different body shapes, don't they??

In the same way that some of us (including me, tbh) put on weight easily and others don't, I'm assuming the same is true with cats? Or is one of my cats finding another food source? I've got two and both of them are fed half a sachet of wet food a day, and then I leave down a bowl of dry food for them both to eat - I've not noticed one eating more than the other. The only treat food I do is dreamies - but I'd say that is only 2 or 3 times a week and the same amount to both. Cat one is quite big, has long legs and is the sort of cat who leaps gracefully onto high places. Cat two is quite small, has short legs and quite a chunky body and a really pronounced primordial pouch which swings a bit when she runs. She does not leap gracefully onto high places, but she can get wherever she wants to go! Both have free access to outside and Cat two probably goes out more than Cat one. I'm fairly sure that if I took Cat two to the vet they'd tell me to put her on a diet...

I came here tonight looking for cat dieting tips. This is my chonk. I weighed her at 5.3kg and while ago, must weigh again, and my vet is unimpressed at her weight. She’s neutered and indoor (HER choice). Loooooves food. But I’m finding that food labelled/suggesting it helps weight control is just the same calorie content as her regular whiskas.

DSis has had good success with the Royal Canin Light Weight dry food, as evidenced by the vet's comments at her fatter cat's MoT, and though he's not been weighed recently Tobias does seem to be not quite as chonky now I'm trying it.

I've got 2 , they are both neutered and young adult males. My tuxedo is over 6kg, he's a big cat but not fat, just solid. The vet said he's just a large cat and is healthy.

My tabby cat is smaller but still 5.2kg. He is of a much slimmer build, but he eats far more than the tuxedo, is very food motivated and would eat more if I offer3r it. He's also a prolific hunter though, so I think he burns off a lot of enegy , whereas my tuxedo cat loves lazing around in any patch of sun he can find 😃

She’s been trying Royal Canin wet food (indoor sterilised) and tonight she has been pressing her back legs against me and farting. She’s back to whiskas tomorrow.

Try the dry. Mine didn't get on all that well with the Royal Canin wet, but get on well with the dry. The indoor is slightly lower calorie than recipes for cats who go out, but not as good for weight loss as the Light Weight one.
