Cats are such funny creatures, I never realised just how much personality they have and how they are all so different until I got two of my own. My two could not be any further apart. Boy cat is scared of his own shadow, a proper mummy’s boy, very loving and affectionate with me but scared of every other human on the planet. He lives for chicken and cuddles with me on the bed. He is the golden child, very sweet and gentle, never really does anything wrong. Sleeps a lot.

girl cat… very confident and vocal. Extremely playful and will pounce on anything that moves. Will scratch all the furniture and chew through all of the wires. But is also endless entertainment. Likes to sleep inside the wardrobe. Wakes us up at 5am. Gets herself stuck places that she can definitely get down from but forgets she’s a cat and screams for help (like in a tree).

Please all let me know about your cats quirky personalities 😄

Penelope has small cat syndrome. She's absolutely tiny. But planning world domination. She's quite demanding. But sweet and very affectionate.

something2say · 04/10/2024 16:02

Petit Animale was a short hair British Blue who was soooo handsome. He used to come out of his den when I had parties of musicians and say hello to every single person by patting their leg and insisting on being stroked.

He slept on my inner thighs. He followed me everywhere. I made a rod for my own back by feeding him bits from my plate and the only time we argued was when he would hook a claw onto the plate and try to steal.

You could cut three claws at a time and that's it. He loved a face rub but when stroking him, you had to stop and take turns, because he wanted to give love as well and his ears would go back so you stopped and he would then lick you and his tongue was surprisingly wet.

He died in my arms x

Onlyhereforthebatshitneighbours · 04/10/2024 16:03

One is sooo mischievous but does it all with a butter wouldn't melt expression.
The other 2 are a Prince & Princess: she can swear like a sailor, especially if required to move from or share her comfy spot, he likes his butlers to open all doors for him, play on demand and generally shape the world to his whim.

All three love cuddles.

FionnulaTheCooler · 04/10/2024 16:08

DCat1 is a beautiful idiot, very tolerant of being cuddled and affectionate, always purring, but not blessed in the brains department. DCat2 is a classic naughty tortie, quick to give a hiss and a swipe if you get in her bad books, always vocalising her various grudges against the world and has destroyed every carpet in my house. No point replacing it until she's passed on as she would take great delight in ripping it all up again.

outforawalkbiatch · 04/10/2024 16:14

Loves cuddles, belly rubs and sleeping under the duvet wedged against me. Will also play fetch
Not keen on other cats, would rather be at home but will go outside if I go with him
Demands affection
Also a total weirdo who will wake me at 3am because he's rummaging through a drawer like he's lost something Confused

Bossy, lazy, set in his ways and a bit of a cuddle bug ( when he wants)

BirthdayRainbow · 04/10/2024 16:24

I have had four cats and now have two.

Cat 1 - the best cat ever. Funny, loving, extremely protective of the human babies. Female. Tortoiseshell and white. Died at 18.9. RIP.

Cat 2 - currently shouting at me for tea(which is at 4.30) and has been for twenty minutes, scared of everything but he has been bullied. Very loving, sits on my lap. Cute and cheeky. Brings a lot of unwanted gifts. Accepting the dog took a year but immediately okay with the kitten that is cat 4. Ages 12-13. Male.

Cat 3 - above cats half sister. Easy going, accepting of the dog immediately but took a year to accept the kitten than came after. A home girl. No trouble. Lost her in May. Heartbroken. Died aged 12. RIP.

Cat 4 - cheeky madam. Trained her to sit. Tries to kill me often. Hits the dog. Bosses Cat 2 around but also kisses him, the floozy. Doesn't sit on my lap much but will sometimes snuggle up in the bed with me. Long haired black and white female aged six.

TokyoSushi · 04/10/2024 16:34

So, so grumpy, and a champion street fighter 🙄 even now at 16. Treats everybody with absolute disdain.

We have had him since 8 weeks, so his whole life, and we couldn't possibly love him more, he is treated like the absolute king that he fully believes himself to be!

Overtheatlantic · 04/10/2024 16:46

Sweet sweet girl whose favourite thing is to sit on my face so I will wrap my arms around her and give her a butt cuddle. She will then purr us off to sleep. She’s still not convinced that my husband isn’t going to kill her but happily sleeps in his chair at night. Very agreeable and undemanding, which makes me spoil her even more.

SaturdayMorningRun · 04/10/2024 18:04

One of ours is quiet, timid and likes to always be with one of us, but hates strangers. She doesn't venture far from home. Very loving.

The other is very confident, noisy, nothing scares him and he loves everyone. I think he thinks he's one of the dogs, he sits and gives paw when asked.

Despite them being very different, they both love each other so much. They both sleep with our dogs in a big puddle on a sofa

Room296 · 04/10/2024 18:44

18 Month old British Shorthair. He's the most loving little thing ever. He HAS to be touching me in some way, So will have his head on my leg when he goes to sleep, or one paw across my leg, or recently one claw stuck in my kneecap.

He follows me everywhere, Not sure how I'm still alive because he will be in another room then the next thing I'm falling over him because he's just materialised behind me, Usually when I'm carrying a hot cup of coffee..

He steals the post as soon as it comes and if I don't watch him he will hide letters, Lost many a parcel and found it under my bed a week later.. He also made off with my keys, I never found them..

When he wants attention he will literally climb up my arm and stick his face in mine and just stare at me.

Cat 1 is 13 and has always been small. Acts like a propper princess who will wait for doors to be opened for her even if they are already open a crack, but will scrap with the local Tom's like a prized fighter if they come in her yard. Will not go further than the neighbours yard. Very quiet and uncat like. Sleeps on the highest point of my body and will patiently wait for me to settle when I roll over. Will not sprawl like normal cars but always sits neatly like a loaf with all legs and tail tucked under her body. Pee's on every rug I've ever brought in the house even though she has 3 clean litter trays. Has unique toes so she can pick things up like she has a thumb. Was best friends with the dog before he passed away 8 years ago but still has not accepted the kitten we got a year ago.

(Kitten) Cat 2 is now 1, is an absolute Psycho. Will not leave me alone, is extremely vocal and is scared of child 3 when he visits from uni. Loves to play with foam balls and cat springs - she carries them around in her mouth - but hates catnip. If I tidy all her toys away she will get a selection out for herself when she feels like playing. Stands like a pit bull when on high alert and loves to get attention by flopping on the floor at your feet wherever you are in the house. Bites when stroked. Loves to show me affection by 'body-checking' me. She naps on the arm of the sofa while I watch TV and if she hasn't had attention in a while will dramatically flip herself over while yelling at me or will flop against my chest, raise her paw to my face and pull my face downwards. Loves to lick my nose. Fascinated with sinks.

stormsandsunshine · 04/10/2024 23:53

Ours are only babies, but there’s already a personality difference.

Cat 1 is significantly bigger and much more chilled. Quite calm and confident, takes things in her stride, settled into the new enviroment quickly. Much more food oriented and will do anything for a treat.
Cat 2 is tiny and a real live wire. Not that interested in food and only eats if she’s really hungry. She is more jittery and will jump at noises and new things that Cat 1 just lets roll over her. She is quite emotionally dependent on her sister and has serious FOMO (she will run away and hide behind our piano, I’ll then stroke Cat 1 who is lying around waiting to be petted, and Cat 2 will miaow angrily because she feels left out but is scared to join in.) But she is also very loving and really likes being touched, just needs more encouragement to show it.

It will be interesting to see if their personalities change as they get older.

I had cats growing up from when I was 6 and they all had different personalities.

Julianne65 · 06/10/2024 09:02

Tilly is confident, nothings scares her. She will chase and attack the local bully Tom cat and foxes. She is not very affectionate to us unless food is involved. She would eat all day if we let her. She does sleep on our laps when she feels like it and will tolerate some head scratches on her terms. Hates being groomed and picked up. She will attack us if we try. She’s a little madam. Reading all that back I’m not sure why we tolerate her! It’s a good thing she’s so cute.

BigDahliaFan · 06/10/2024 09:22

The cat sitter just described our cat as 'sir' in a text message. That sums it up. Entitled.

FloofPaws · 06/10/2024 09:36

Cat 1
Was feral, we got him as older kitten and tamed him, he's a mummy's boy, thinks DH is a car serial killer. He's always with me when in, and catches me mice
Cat 2
Black and we got him as a friend for cat 1 a month or so after cat 1 arrived. Cat 2 is really big, like a panther, very heavy feet in the morning when it's breakfast time and I'm sleeping. He hasn't yet worked out teh cat flap ... ours goes through our wall som2 flaps with a tube in the middle ... he gets all flustered and comes back in after flopping around in the middle then comes back in - dippy mog
Cat 3
Female, tortitude- hates the boy, especially cat 1. Hates the DDog .... loves the kids though

Parry5timesbeforedeath · 06/10/2024 09:39

We have two cats. a 21 year old Tortie we got last year after she spent 18 months in a rescue. She is very bad tempered and we have nicknamed her “attack cat” as she comes at us with claws and teeth. We adore her. She adores my profoundly autistic teen son and spends all her days either sitting on him or sleeping on him and just holds his face with her paws and licks him all over.

We also have a 15 year old very skittish tabby. We got her as a feral rescue aged 3 and she is not socialised even now. She is very clever and likes to stalk attack cat when she is doing her business in the litter tray which we consider to be both devilllish but very War General. She loves snuggles in the night and nibbles my hair.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 06/10/2024 09:55

Sybil is the brains of the family. She knows that when you tilt your cereal or porridge bowl you have nearly finished, so she only mugs you at that point. She's also fickle. Finds somewhere random to sleep, uses it for a month then finds somewhere else. She's very confident. We've just had builders in and she went wherever they were working and supervised them, whereas the three boys vanished each day.
Basil is a big kid - demands routine play with Mrs G's dressing gown after we get up but before we can go downstairs. He also gets bored and is rather bitey to get attention or to get fed. He's VERY chatty and very much a lap cat.
Karl is like an overenthusiastic evangelist. He is often hugely pleased to see us, so comes running up, leaps on your lap and bops your nose repeatedly so hard that it's painful. Great purr but he's not very vocal.
Lenny is the black cat sheep of the family. Slaps any of the other cats who get to the food before him, he's not really a lap cat at all, doesn't like Sybil (😲), and will be friendly and purry only on his terms - usually at 4.00 in the morning. If he doesn't want attention he growls and slaps us (to be fair usually without claws extended). Definite Grumpy cat vibes. Lenny also miaows in his sleep which makes us laugh - particularly when he wakes himself up doing it
They all love the outside world and Karl and Lenny are very talented hunters. Don't think Basil and Sybil can be bothered with that any more though.

All our previous cats were completely different characters too.

I have a make and remake Maine Coons and they live up to their reputations. Boy cat is big and vocal and a teddy bear really. Always up for a tummy rub and likes to be next to you. A real homebody. Female more aloof and quiet and is outside a lot (even in the rain). Likes affection on her terms. Quite a judgemental look - as you can see.

mondaytosunday · 06/10/2024 10:34

Male and female 🙄

TheOGCCL · 06/10/2024 18:36

Immaculate manners and understands the word no, but doesn’t crave human contact.

UmbrellaEllaEllaElla · 06/10/2024 18:47

Girl is gentle, shy and very calm and affectionate.

Boy is playful, gets grouchy and needy.

Puppylucky · 07/10/2024 22:28

Elton is confident and friendly - he loves meeting new people and forms embarrassing crushes on the most unlikely people, such as our electrician. He is very serious though and has absolutely no sense of humour. He doesn't really play, but does training sessions for his bird bothering sessions - laps and jab practice compulsory. He's very affectionate and loves cuddles, but is also moody - especially if his favourite seat is taken or it's been a quiet day in the garden. When he's sulking he either flounces off to the spare bedroom or sits with his back to you. He's also extremely noisy.

Scutterbug · 07/10/2024 22:32

My cat is a bit of a knob tbh! She is feisty indoors but timid outside. Won’t leave the garden. Kills anything she can out there. Leaves the innards of mice in her food bowl. She terrorises the dog (lab!) and scratches the furniture. But the worst thing is her obsession with jumping on shoulders. She will literally leap from afar to land on you, from on top of the fridge, from kitchen counters. She hides and then pounces. She also bites ears and noses. Painfully.

AskingQuestions45 · 07/10/2024 22:38

Very affectionate. Hates it when we aren’t at home. Hates us being on holiday. Screams to be fed outside my bedroom window at 6 am waking all the neighbours. She has a cat flap but wants FOOD. When she’s been fed she wants to plonk herself on me and I dare not move . She expects to be on a human at all times u less she’s outside.
She catches mice and eats them leaving one organ on the floor for me to clean up. Either that or they are running about live in the house with her in an absolute frenzy of blood lust.
She has ruined the living room carpet by scratching it which upset me every time I look at it.

She much prefers human food to cat food. If we are eating salmon or chicken in particular, or tuna, she will do ANYTHING to get some. If I leave anything uncovered on the kitchen counter , she will get it. She likes to lick the butter. She won’t drink water from her bowl, she prefers to drink it out of my glass.

She hates being kept in at night and will do anything to avoid it.
