I know this has been done to death, but Toots has suddenly decided after YEARS of enjoying gourmet perle, that it isn’t good enough for her.

She’s been leaning half a bowl left every day. She only gets one wet bowl a day. She has dry food down all day

Fresh bowls of Go Cat biscuits morning and night, then a pouch of Felix flakes in jelly, morning and night too, which they all love!

BirthdayRainbow · 30/09/2024 20:56

Having happily eaten Asda Tiger for years with the odd fancier one thrown in, DCat3 decided to eat nothing. I tried sitting with her, asking her nicely, begging her but nothing worked apart from taking it up to her to eat on a bed upstairs. Eventually the vet said it sounds like she's being a Princess and suggested I get Katkin. It was going to be £50 for two weeks for two cats so I just ordered for the fuss pot. She said no thanks. Tried the dried chicken powder. She did eventually eat but then I've gone back to supermarket stuff. She's eaten Morrisons and felix lately as well as one from home bargains. I'm sticking to whatever I feel like buying and if she says no she gets felix soup on top but she's been eating really well since she finished the katkin.

My spoiled little shits are on untamed with thrive dry biscuits for the skinny ones and royal canin weight control for the fat ones. The skinnies have microchip feeders. Depends what mood they are in as to whether they finish the untamed or not I sometimes feel like I might as well throw pound coins away!

BCSurvivor · 30/09/2024 20:56

Mine are on Untamed....subscription, online....with dry biscuits (Royal Canin) down all the time, and topped up with Felix as good as it looks as the Untamed, although really good quality, is too expensive to feed exclusively to three cats!

rrrrrreatt · 30/09/2024 20:57

Ours are on meowing heads chicken kibble and lily’s kitchen wet (70/30 mix).

They were on Felix Naturally Delicious with a sprinkle of kibble but it was discontinued. My partner foolishly bought a jumbo pack of Doubly Delicious thinking cat food is cat food…they both had an upset tummy and hated it. The more stubborn of our two boys refused to eat anything until we bought an alternative, now they have Lily’s and I have 70+ pouches of Doubly Delicious to get rid of 😂

MerlinsButler · 30/09/2024 22:28

@Soubriquet if she likes gravy try Sheba sauce lovers.

Our 17 year old cat is very fussy but loves these.

Silvertulips · 30/09/2024 22:32

My dog did this. I brought mince ms made him 7 containers of fresh meat veg rice etc and he loved it - in freezer bags and defrosted in the fridge.

He was a lot healthier for it .

They would’ve eaten food before cat food was invented.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 30/09/2024 22:58

James wellbeloved is the only food my cat will eat, I've wasted so much money trying to get her to eat other brands 🙄

She also won't eat wet food so she just gets a bowl of biscuits a day.

Tbf she's very healthy on it.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/10/2024 00:01

We have an ex stray boy who steals food out of the kitchen waste caddy, but is a little diva about actual cat food. We’ve cycled through wet offerings and settled on Sheba in gravy, but not fishy, and dry Royal Canin. He doesn’t always eat all the wet, but he does drink water so I am not that fussed - our previous girl wolfed every scrap of food but only drank from muddy puddles.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/10/2024 00:02

Oh he wouldn’t even look at Katkin when we tried that.

RedBulb · 01/10/2024 00:06

My cat has decided premium is for her so is on KatKin now, she previously liked Encore too but went off it eventually. She had been on her current food for well over a year now so fingers crossed it’s the end of her fussiness

hoarahloux · 01/10/2024 00:31

Applaws isn't complete, so make sure to provide a full portion of a complete dry food daily.

Or provide a complete wet food like Untamed, Thrive, Blink, Lily's Kitchen, Katkin, Marro, Cool Cat Club. Plenty of options for high quality foods, grain free and whole meat options. No "meat and animal derivatives", which means "whatever the processing factory gives us". Guaranteed 4% chicken!

ilovesooty · 01/10/2024 01:08

My two have Hills dry food (the dental one) and alternate between Gourmet Perle in gravy and Untamed.

Canthave2manycats · 01/10/2024 01:19

We've tried Blink and Lily's Kitchen and not one of the three of them would eat it! So the two girls get Purina dry food plus Sheba/Gourmet wet food. My boy has a delicate tummy so he gets Scrumbles dry. He doesn't like any of their wet foods - in fact he's not a wet food fan at all, but he drinks plenty of water from the water cooler so I guess that's ok.

Pascha · 01/10/2024 01:23

They have Nood dry food and Harringtons wet, though only one will eat wet food at all.

Livinginaclock · 01/10/2024 01:26

Whiskas dry food, it's the only dry food they'll eat,and Asda tinned cat food, they'll eat any wet food food and I shop at Asda.

caringcarer · 01/10/2024 01:28

Aldi pouches morning and night and Purina Kibble for lunch time and overnight. Half a chicken breast each on Sundays and a small Tin of Tuna in springwater midweek.

Soubriquet · 04/10/2024 10:09

Gave her applaws last night and the bowl was licked clean! She has her sample pack of coolcat coming today so I’ll try her with that too to see which she gets on with

My cats are on Bella and Duke raw food (they love it!)

I would say don’t use Katkin if your cat is even slightly fussy, we have been donated Katkin by three different people recently as their cats wouldn’t touch it, but mine are little dustbins that eat anything! The Katkin is quite messy and the packets are a bugger to open so the ‘juice’ usually goes everywhere Envy

ViciousCurrentBun · 04/10/2024 10:21

Iams senior and royal canin dried food plus small tidbits of meat from DH plate whilst I sit and watch their great romance play out in front of me.

SanFranBear · 04/10/2024 10:27

Sheba wet (poultry ones in gravy) and IAMs sensitive dry as they both get dodgy stomachs on other kibble.

This combo has been in place about 6 months so am sure they'll turn their noses up at it shortly 😆

I'd be interested why your vet didn't rate Sheba, if you can remember @WildCherryBlossom...

WildCherryBlossom · 04/10/2024 10:54

@SanFranBear one of the cats has a vet appointment coming up. I will ask her what it is she doesn't like about Sheba and let you know. There was a fairly long phase when Sheba was my cats' preferred wet food and they all seemed happy on it but they are all on Purina (dry and wet) now.

SanFranBear · 04/10/2024 11:07

That's really kind, @WildCherryBlossom - hopefully nothing too dealbreaking but you only want to do right by them, don't you!

I’m likely going to avoid katkin anyway as I don’t have the freezer space and I wasn’t aware a freezer was needed. I used to have Bella and Duke for the dogs but they turned their nose up at it which surprised me

James Wellbeloved dry food and occasionally Sheba fine flakes (he prefers dry food).
Won't touch fresh fish, chicken or prawns on the rare occasion i offer them.
