Hello l loved your photo of your cat..my cat is 7 months.. when l got him he was a tiny kitten and we thought he was a Queen .
He's now grown and he's huge.. big huge furry take. Big furry ears. Huge paws..He acts more like a dog.He has the shaggy frontal ruff . He follows me from room to room.
I'm sure he is part main coon.

He is vv fluffy and a bit unusual. What a beauty! Maybe forest cat mixed in if not maincoon?

Moier · 11/01/2024 15:38

He's a beautiful cat. The tail looks similar to Floofs, his is about 40cms long and the fluffiness looks similar, ears are different though. Floof has tuffty ears. Does he trill like in this video? Floof will be like this half the day chatting.

Floof can be quite dog like and likes attention 24/7 and will fetch balls in his mouth.

MrsFloof · 11/01/2024 15:47

He looks the right size at 7 months.

MrsFloof · 11/01/2024 15:58

The Norwegian forest cat also is very fluffy and looks a bit similar, maybe ask the vet, they might know better than me. This is my first big fluffy cat and he's only 1. Or maybe others on here would know.

MrsFloof · 11/01/2024 16:03

The paws are quite tufty as well.

Paw2024 · 11/01/2024 16:03

My boy trills like that! Not fluffy but has ear tufts, huge for a standard cat (tall, long) and plays fetch. He also sleeps under the duvet smushed against me all night

whirlyhead · 11/01/2024 16:04

I have a massive birman who trills just like a maine coon so I guess other breeds trill too!

he doesn’t look very main cooney to me, just big (and lovely!) But yep, ask the vet.

Howmanysleepsnow · 11/01/2024 16:06

He looks a bit Maine coon ish to me! I’ve 2 6 month olds, and he looks a similar size to my girl, slightly smaller than my boy.
The ruff is about as developed as my boy’s at this age, and he has the characteristic square muzzle and fluffy tail.

catelynjane · 11/01/2024 16:13

He doesn't look like a Maine Coon to me - just a fluffy, long-haired moggy. He's very cute though!

I don't know if it's just me, but there seems to be a bit of a trend these days for anyone who has a big cat (or a pretty cat or an unusually coloured cat) to want it to be an exotic breed. I kind of get it, but there's nothing wrong with having a regular moggy and they're much cheaper too Grin

catelynjane · 11/01/2024 16:14

Oh, and all of my cats trill like the Maine Coon in that video - it's just a normal cat noise.

Paw2024 · 11/01/2024 16:15

Front pic of mine if it helps (apologies for jumping in!)

MrsFloof · 11/01/2024 16:26

The MC noise is very different to a regular cat, I have had both but that video may not be the clearest. This one is like it and it's all the time. Our regular cat definitely didn't trill. She meowed and did an ah ah noise, the trill is a much longer noise for a minute or so non stop. Not all the noises here are trills.

@Moier there’s nowt quite like sleep deprivation!

catelynjane · 11/01/2024 16:28

Honestly, I can't tell the difference between that MC and my normal chatty black and ginger moggies.

MrsFloof · 11/01/2024 16:29

Birmans is says do the trill noise as well. It could be certain large breeds. But definitely very different to our old moggie.

ShowOfHands · 11/01/2024 16:32

My Calico trills exactly like that, as does my brother's tabby.

Gorgeous cat OP. I agree with @catelynjane. DLH (and all the better for it). We have a big fluffy cat - he's purebred Battersea mog 🤣.

Weird aren't they
My old moggy made every noise under the sun death metal was quieter than him except a trill
New boy - no sounds at all except the trill which he only does really when playing fetch or his mate leaves

The noisiest cat I've ever owned was a 2kg female farm moggy.

I'm sure MC's are chatty but I don't think it's unique to a specific breed. My younger two are ridiculously chatty whereas my big fluffy old boy only yells at dinner time.

sawnotseen · 11/01/2024 16:52

My two girls are main coon / British short hair and are over 4.5kg at 8mths. They don't have a ruff but i read that doesn't grow until they're over a year old. They do have long, tufty ears and huge paws. Mine are amazingly clever and very affectionate, they follow me everywhere. Enjoy!

sawnotseen · 11/01/2024 16:55

Oh and one trills, her sister doesn't!
