Are all cats messy bastards or is it just mine?

I have to clean this up every day as it seems like they find it impossible to keep food in the bowl Confused it goes all over the floor and into the water bowls, it's ridiculous! My dog wouldn't dream of just leaving food on the floor but the kittens give no fucks. If it goes on the floor they won't clean it up Hmm

My poor wee gang have very high meat content kibble - less in less out is the bonus. 40 grammes a day spread over 3 meals. It's the kibble equivalent of raw feeding.

The dog is very jealous!

Mine drags his food from his plate onto the floor. I'm constantly cleaning up after him

What kibble do you feed? Mine are just on Whiskas as that's what they were on when I got them and I just never got around to switching them to something better quality. I can't wait until they can have adult food, there seems to be a poor choice of food options for kittens 🙄

Eden
Were on orijen but they sold out to Mars
Going to try Josera too which is available from Crystal Clear Pets UK - we've had many sample bags and they love it.

RandomMess · 19/12/2023 12:26

Actually Josera seems available in a few places now. Need to crack on and price compare.

I can't let the dog clean up, she's on a VERY strict diet at the moment.

Ah, my post was intended to be lighthearted, but I guess the dog's diet makes the situation worse in this instance. Hope you find a solution.

@AintNobodyHereButUsChickens try Zooplus for higher quality kitten food. It will seem pricy but they will eat less of it.

I read somewhere that you shouldn't put water near their food because they don't like that. Ours wouldn't drink unless it was in a different part of the room.

Ps your kittens are so cute. Love them!

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 19/12/2023 14:29

Ours not only frequently just throws her food out of the bowl (she’s fed off paper plates on a dinner tray) but also diligently recarpets the room with little wood pellets every time she goes to the litter tray. Sigh.

I've seen that too but they're not bothered and drink very happily with the bowls where they are, I'll move them if they ever change their minds but for now I'll just keep them there.

@AintNobodyHereButUsChickens I emailed Crystal Clear for their price list and they are cheapest I can find for Josera Xmas Wink

The thing with buying high quality foods is you do need to be prepared to waste your money if your cats are fussy buggers.

I've tried all manner of high-protein, high-quality foods and they just turn their noses up, no matter how long I try and persist. And cats aren't like dogs - if they don't eat they can get really sick, so you can't just "starve them out" as such.

FayCarew · 20/12/2023 12:16

Mine seem to like the tinned supermarket food. They won't look at the posh stuff unless I stir in some lick-e-lix.

TheBalletCats · 24/12/2023 01:45

ZooPlus have several choices of high-quality kitten food: Applaws, Feringa, Purizon, Sanabelle, Smilla, Wild Freedom… Nature’s Variety only comes in a 7kg bag so unless your kittens are gannets maybe not the one to opt for. They have adult versions to move to, too; & most have wet foods if you wanted to mix feed & stick with same brand.
