Calling all cats and their overworked slaves - join us as we grudgingly accept that every day is National Cat Day as far as our moggies are concerned.

@SequentialAnalyst wouldn't surprise me - I already have to trim her and Phoebe's claws every so often. Mum and I are covered in little claw marks from them kneading on us! 😣

All my knitwear has pulled threads ... 😄

Catsmere · 25/11/2023 19:49

@CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau I didn't even think of it till reading your post but yes, I can hear Daisy's claws clicking on the tiles, too. It's how I know if she's gone to use the litter at night, and the time gap tells me if she's likely done a poo.

@RumNotRun 🤣🤣🤣

RumNotRun · 25/11/2023 23:14

Ghostie is determined that if she fits she sits. I have no idea where the rest of her body is but it's probably to her advantage that she only has three legs to fit in the box.

Ghostie’s being a teeny tiny tortie!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 26/11/2023 09:11

I'm currently recovering from a bout of gastro enteritis that had completely knocked me out since last Wednesday evening. The antibiotics seem to have kicked in at last and I slept through the night last night (rather than having to get up every 15-20 minutes). Now feeling much improved.
Anyway, woke this morning to find Lenny looking at me. (Basil is the lump behind him, in the bed). Therapy cats 😹.

@Catsmere Velvet takes about ten minutes whatever she’s done in the litter tray due to her admirable determination to carpet the entire room with cat litter! We’re excited for her to go out because if she learns to go outside she can landscape the entire garden each time she has a bowel movement for all we care…
@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats is Basil just completely under the duvet?! Glad you’re feeling better.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 26/11/2023 09:34

Yes he is, he does have form for getting into bed on cold nights. And thank you.

JoanOgden · 26/11/2023 11:13

Ah sorry to hear that, Grumpy, and glad to hear you're feeling better now.

Cats are the best when you're ill, always so willing to curl up supportively beside you. Mine would really like me to be entirely bedridden, apart of course from regular visits to the kitchen to top up her bowl.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 26/11/2023 12:13

Velvet’s a little wary (she hates being picked up or cuddled) but she will enthusiastically play in a little tunnel under the duvet and will snuggle up to me a little bit by just maintaining contact. She will also burst out into loud purrs when she sees me for the first time every day and will very gently jump up and bring my hand down, with claws retracted, for me to stroke her face, in the morning. It feels beyond honour to have this lovely little friend in my life. And I’m glad to be able to share her with you and your equally excellent friends!

YesItsMeIDontCare · 26/11/2023 12:48

Grumpy! I had that many years ago and still remember wanting a sniper to take me out and put me out of my misery 🙈 Sending sympathetic (((hugs))). I hope Mrs G doesn't get it.

It's 3° here... wind chill is making it feel like 1° and Leroy decided he wanted to go out.
So I put on the thermal leggings, thick socks, jeans, long sleeve tshirt, polo neck jumper (all pre-warmed on a radiator), then coat, hat, scarf, wellies... I may have resembled the shape of Michelin Man.

5 MINUTES HE LASTED! 5 FUCKING MINUTES!!! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 26/11/2023 13:08

Thank you Yes. You are right it's absolutely vile - never had anything like it. I generally avoid doctors at all costs but due to producing large amounts of blood (TMI - sorry), as well as the pain, I felt compelled to go. (OK - Mrs G insisted)
I actually started being ill while I was away with work at the beginning of the week so hopefully Mrs G won't have been near me when I was infectious.
On a lighter subject Mrs G has two cats on her lap this morning. Started with Basil then Sybil muscled her way in.

Glad you are feeling better Grumpy. It sounds awful. Sympathies to Yes too. I haven't gone out today yet and if I do, it will only be to the bins. It is very chilly!

Catsmere · 26/11/2023 21:06

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats glad you're getting better, that sounds really nasty. Good thing you have nurse cats.

@CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau Phoebe's a great carpeter-with-litter too. She also likes chucking bits of it into their water bowl. 🙄

TheLongRider · 26/11/2023 21:25

Sibling love. Snuggled up together even he was biting her tail 5 minutes beforehand.

Lovely photo TheLongRider!

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 26/11/2023 22:42

Oof @Catsmere, some very assertive people on the other thread we are frequenting.

Velvet has made no fewer than FOUR sorties today, explored my mother’s chest of drawers and got so thoroughly overexcited she didn’t want catnip Dreamies. Catnip Dreamies!!! She’s such an adorable little thing although very intellectually challenged.

I saw one of my dearest friends for the first time in ages! She loved Velvet and unguardedly said “I want to come round for tea soon to see the cat!” Then corrected herself roughly five minutes later to say “and you”. But I understand the appeal of my little snow leopard ❤️❤️❤️

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 26/11/2023 22:42

Also @TheLongRider very very cute kittens.

JaceLancs · 26/11/2023 23:24

Finlay got stuck on the garage roof (we think last night) and had to be rescued this morning
He is not going very far today - poor little soul was quite unnerved as were we!

Catsmere · 26/11/2023 23:36

Poor Finlay!

My late Mamie was a repeat offender at the "Help I can't get down from the roof" thing. Unfortunately she always did it on a house a few doors down from us! Very embarrassing having to ask the neighbour if I could use our ladder to get the nitwit down.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 26/11/2023 23:51

Oh bless poor little Finlay.
Mr N used to charge up a tree very boldly and jump straight off.
I take care to carry V off the table or wherever she isn’t supposed to be so she doesn’t injure her paws, but people don’t always have available time for that. But to give her credit she’s very responsible at climbing down from high shelves, mantels etc.

Catsmere · 26/11/2023 23:58

Fortunately this is as high as Daisy scales!

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 27/11/2023 00:21

She looks like a lovely, cuddly bundle of fun!

Catsmere · 27/11/2023 00:24

She is! Not particularly playful, but very smoochy and snuggly.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 27/11/2023 00:26

Leroy's too lardy to climb high in the house, and too attached to a harness to climb high outside 😁

I used to have a cat who couldn't use his back legs properly... but you should have seen him climb a tree 😱🙈🙊

Catsmere · 27/11/2023 00:30

I wish Daisy would accept being on a leash. I'd like to walk her, but the only secure one I found has a velcro fastening and she hates the sound of it. Every other type I've tried, she can escape from.

Cat tax - she is also fond of sitting here.
