Calling all cats and their overworked slaves - join us as we grudgingly accept that every day is National Cat Day as far as our moggies are concerned.

Thanks to you all.
I'm sure it'll be fine, but there's always a tiny, lingering thought, isn't there.

Best of luck, @TheShellBeach !

TheShellBeach · 15/11/2023 20:44

Hey, guess what - I've ordered the telly and cooker from AO.

Also saved £115!

Result 👍.
But if anything goes wrong, it was Basil who stole my phone and made the recommendation not me 🤣

TheShellBeach · 15/11/2023 21:49

It's all right Grumpy.
I'll just blame you, not poor Basil.

I thought I'd move across and join you on here with Munchkin, who is currently making air biscuits* on my lap. She's a funny little thing, spent the day back under the bed having kept me awake last night by sleeping above my head on the pillow, and then as soon as the light started to go, there she was demanding fuss. Quite distracting for the final half hour of work.

*Feline equivalent of air guitar? Photo shows full biscuit-induced trance.

Hi @twobluechickens and Munchkin.
Welcome! We love black cats on here.

Munchkin’s a sweetie!

I wish Daisy would do air-biscuits to put herself in a trance. She prefers lying stretched out on top of me, and her claws go into my neck! 😖

I'm surprised you didn't blame poor TC!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 15/11/2023 22:02

Damn - missed a trick there.
Basil framed by TC. 🤣

RumNotRun · 15/11/2023 22:04

Frank's current mood - get your phone camera out of my f**king face

I couldn't help imagining Basil on the phone ordering white goods:

'Make sure everything is properly packaged. There's 4 of us here and we are all expecting our own large top quality cardboard box!'

SequentialAnalyst · 15/11/2023 22:52

I suspect Sybil will be the eminence grise behind Basil. She'll be the one deciding.

SequentialAnalyst · 15/11/2023 22:56

Anyone had a TEMU side-ad for a pet grooming hammock?
Very cheap, looks hilarious.
Would link, but the link came out massive.

Munchkin is gorgeous! I love our little snow leopard but was pushing for a black cat before we got her, black cats are awesome! Firmly on Team Black Cats are Lucky.

Speaking of snow leopards, Velvet has had a very energetic day! Not only has she done a lot of playing, she’s experimented with hiding from her toys in a box briefly before emerging to pounce (I’m not sure why we need to hide from the toys but it’s a recurring theme with her), attacking a towel, which fell on her head so I’m calling it a draw, continuing to attempt to launch herself from the upstairs landing while I stand on the stairs fending her off, and in a dazzling display of skill, climbing up a scratching post with all four legs off the ground WITH a little ball firmly clasped in her mouth.

Very nerve-wracking day coming up for her as she’s going to get to explore the garden for the first time! My mother is also oddly focused on renaming her (I think Velvet is fine as she has the silkiest fur) and I proposed Tail Wagatha Christie.

Thanks, I think it was @Catsmere, for the appreciation of my earlier post! I love sharing the delights of cats :)

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 15/11/2023 23:23

BTW Tail Wagatha is because she’s constantly investingating and because even when she’s in a super mood her tail is always flicking.

Oh Shell, 2 week pathway referrals are so stressful. The best thing, of course, but as you say, The Fear niggles. It is excellent news about the white goods (I had to order an obscenely expensive fridge [almost £800!] in the summer because it was the only one in all the world - other than wee under-counter ones - that would fit in the only space available for a fridge. I was then sent a damaged fridge & intimidated by the delivery men into paying them all the money I had in the house to put it in position. [They were fired; my money returned; & my fridge replaced as soon as a new one arrived from Germany.] So you have all my sympathy-empathy on this. Well, apart from the sympathy-empathy directed at doing The Two Week Wait.)

SequentialAnalyst if you click the wee symbol to the right of the button for italicising text you can create a hyperlink rather than clarting up a post with a big link… or you could screenshot the page & add that image instead?

Nijinsky is currently curled up on my lap, but Balanchine is prowling round the house.

Allergictoironing · 16/11/2023 06:23

I was on the 2 week pathway for suspected bowel cancer last year after doing one of those home poo test things. No signs of cancer at all, I knew damn well it was going to be blood due to piles , but I suppose I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Still having gradual progress with Tobias. I can now sometimes stroke him during upstairs meals as well as downstairs, I can walk past him within a foot without him leaping up & panicking, and sometimes he will happily accept me putting treats down right in front of his nose without getting up. And only getting the occasional gentle hiss if he thinks I'm overstepping the mark rather than a full on Freddie Kruger swipe.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 16/11/2023 06:33

Sorry @TheShellBeach by the way for not commiserating with the referral anxiety - I missed exactly why it would be worrying, probably reading too quickly! Thinking of you and like others hoping you’re benefiting from those purrs.

LostCats · 16/11/2023 08:33

Sending healing and calming purrs Shell. I do hope it turns out to be nothing

DS2 arrives on Sunday pm, and will get the keys to his flat on Monday am.

I am now madly trying to arrange some basic furniture for him.

Linney is very pleased with the news.

Sending you love Shell 💐

Velvet news! Sadly no new pictures today (I’ll put one up but can’t promise it’s not a repeat) as my boyfriend has given me a nasty flu so I’ve been chilling in my fairly dark room all day. After a VERY active day yesterday (she had about two hours of play in the morning, culminating in a towel falling on her head, then revved up again for some intense sprinting and more attempts to climb the scratching post while grasping her bouncy ball in her mouth. I’m not sure what happens if she makes it to the top but will keep you updated. She seemed much more subdued this morning and didn’t really want much playing, but after getting her interested in her wand toy she decided my body under the blankets was a terrifying predator and she had to attack! Cue a lot of biting the blankets. I can’t be sure whether she was trying to actually bite a hole in me or drag the blanket (which is patterned with a cat) away for some purposes of her own. She then curled up closer than she’s ever been next to me - she’s very brave in general and loves strokes but not occupying laps or being carried. Watch this space for more adventures of Velvet!

@TheShellBeach sympathy from me too - embarrassingly as I said I’d somehow missed the worrying aspect of your referral and thought you were celebrating a short wait time! I’m currently waiting for an urgent ultrasound (due next Feb) and an assessment for an eating disorder in April. I know everyone is busy but the waiting times are very unfortunate. Fingers crossed that it’s good news for you though!
