Calling all cats and their overworked slaves - join us as we grudgingly accept that every day is National Cat Day as far as our moggies are concerned.

I remember that my primary school teacher (when I was ten) told us that there was a special part of the stomach that dealt with chewing gum, and that it didn't hurt to swallow it.

I was really disappointed to discover that this wasn't true when I trained as a nurse and we did the anatomy and physiology of the stomach.

@TheShellBeach so the "dessert stomach" (where you have room for pudding despite being totally full of dinner) is not true either? 🤣

LostCats · 09/11/2023 10:19

I think the dessert stomach is an absolute guarantee. According to my DC at least

MrShady · 09/11/2023 10:20

@nettie434 thank you, he is definitely settled in!

Odd to encourage children to swallow chewing gum!

I love the tufty ears on that black cat!

It's true for me.
I always have room for pudding.

Love that picture of Shady.

Our teacher wasn't encouraging us to swallow chewing gum.
Just pointing out that it wasn't dangerous.

I can attest to that because I've nearly finished the hundred which arrived yesterday and I'm still alive

Sorry Shell! I was being jokey as I know teachers don’t tend to encourage chewing gum.

Hey, it's okay!

I think Mr Perkin wanted us to swallow it so that nobody stuck it under their desk lid.

I have actually just swallowed the last one. We're about to go and view DS2's flat for him.
I hope I can remember how to take a video on this phone.

Nijinsky graciously posed for photos before settling down for a nap on my lap; while Balanchine is currently birdwatching on my bedroom windowsill from behind the curtain (insert own puns re: hunting blinds here). As he is unavailable for an up-to-the-moment moment image, I instead attach one of his magnificently floofy tummy. Which is not a trap - as you can see from the picture, he loves tummy rubs (from his human!mummy, anyway) 😺

Yesterday we had a lie-in & feline!breakfast was at 1045, with lunch at around 1700. They normally breakfast around 0815 & have lunch about 1215 with their teatime varying, so I’m not quite sure what that was about (but do know they hadn’t feasted on contraband). They are good about minding me though, so possibly I had a hypo in my sleep (doesn’t feel like I had a seizure) & they decided I needed to rest until I smelled better 🤷🏻‍♀️ My brother returned to London last night, so they had a late tea; then breakfast at some ungodly hour; & “lunch” around 0940 🤦🏻‍♀️ They have him wrapped around their little toes when it comes to mealtimes though.

That's my complaint number for Curry's lol

I don't want to lose it again

Anyway - we viewed DS2's flat and I managed to take a video.

Then Curry's didn't get to us with the new cooker and telly because of the landside FFS.

And none of that has anything to do with cats so please ignore me

I would send Currys that picture of Linney looking deeply disappointed in them @TheShellBeach - that should sort things if there is justice in the world.

Balanchine came & joined the SnuggleBundle a while ago. I didn’t manage to get a photo of him holding my hand, but couldn’t manage it; so you’ll have to make do with him & Nijinsky being devastatingly cute, tail-to-tail.

TheShellBeach · 09/11/2023 18:36

Balanchine and Nijinsky look gorgeous!

If I don't get a discount from Curry's I shall send Linney (with a bindle) to their head office.

They'll be sorry.

Meanwhile, in other news, I managed to create some still pictures from my decidedly ropey video, and compress them into a zip file to send to DS2.

I am now officially a geek.

Excellent plan Shell; & I am suitably impressed by your tech skills 😸

While I’m willing to admit to some slight bias, TheBalletCats really are Very Pretty Kitties. They chose to be indoor cats, but have quite the local fan club who get very excited when they put in an appearance on the sitting room windowsills. Balanchine’s unusual/striking good looks always draw comments & Jinny draws the black cat fans & people impressed by his sleekness & gorgeous shape. The pair together - they are littermates - are very striking; especially as they love to cuddle 😻

I am deeply shocked at the swallowing of bubble gumShock

Letting the cat out of the bag is related to buying a pig in a poke.
A poke is a bag.
Unfortunately, sometimes when you open the poke, instead of the piglet you thought you were buying, out comes a cat.
Then you realise the awful truth: There is one born every minute- and this time it's youGrin

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 09/11/2023 20:05

@SequentialAnalyst very cool! I didn’t realise that but I love learning about etymology and derivation.

If you don’t mind my asking - how many people have indoor cats and if so how often is the litter tray cleaned? I’m looking after Velvet full-time and have just been told off at some length for checking the tray at 11PM last night and then again at 10AM but not earlier (I normally clean it every time she uses it, three times to four times a day).

@TheShellBeach such a pristine clean white cat! What a true queen :)

Linney has just brought in a dead mouse.

Mr SB is currently removing the body, to Linney's great annoyance.
