I can't find homes for my kittens

My girl had 4, we are keeping one and one has gone to a friend, bit I cannot find homes for the other 2 despite advertising them, they're 11 weeks now, I wish I could keep them but I cannot afford it. 😞

What colour is the kitten you are keeping?
I've noticed on CPL and CH they pair up a black kitten with a multicolour .

(Makes it easier when you can tell the critters apart ) Wink

Aww because rehoming two black kittens is hard, whereas the two coloured ones would be snapped up, this is a good idea actually to stop black kittens being overlooked. Sadly the OP is trying to sell 2 black kittens, hopefully she has found a rescue that can help.

viques: thank you for your unsolicited advice.

You are most welcome. I hope you find it both helpful and thought provoking.

Thanks all, mum was taken in to be spayed and subsequently found to be pregnant again.... she has been spayed now.

I desperately want to avoid a shelter, they're quite timid and I would worry so much, I adore them already.

I'm in Buckinghamshire and have tried FB, gumtree and petify.

@Lochjeda whereabouts are you? Happy to deliver to good homes, 2 little black short hair domestic boys.

Seeking two kittens in Liverpool.

Why bring more unwanted animals into this world. There are hundreds languishing in poor conditions in the Ukraine, Malta, Greece and plenty desperate for a home in the UK. How irresponsible you are. Poor animals.makes my blood boil!

Don’t let them go for free, they can be used as a bait in dog fighting.

Cats protection would find good homes.

OP is not letting them go for free. She is charging £100 each. Not sure what breed they are.

You are charging a lot, from what I have seen black kittens for some reason are the last to go and the cheapest.

I have heard that black cats are waiting longer for a home than others. The fluffy long haired and tabby ones fly off the shelf. My friend fosters kittens for CPL and she says she has the black ones for longer before being adopted.

A reputable rescue or shelter will make sure the cats are spayed or neutered prior to adoption to help hold the population in check. Many do fostering at home so you could even still keep them with you or they would stay with a trained foster parent.

Our little one wasn't spayed when we took her in (too young plus Covid) so we did have to pay to get it done ourselves (cost £90 I think). We had to promise the rescue that we'd do it and I was desperate to get it done ASAP anyway.

I lost a previous cat to a cancer that they are 80% more likely to get if they go through heat or a pregnancy. My previous cat was a rescue that had kittens before I got her and I was devastated when she died. If it hadn't been for that cancer I'm certain she'd have lived a long, long life.

I know a lot of people like to breed pets to "give her the experience of having a litter", but a) that's putting human emotions on a pet; and b) in the case of cats is potentially severely limiting their life expectancy by doing so.
