Aged 15 and two months. He was on top form.last night and came up for his usual moither and stroke at about 6.15am then padded off downstairs.

He was asleep on the mat by his cat flap when we came downstairs. He is at the vet but no news on the possible cause. The vet didn't think he'd been dead for very long - not much more than an hour. DH and DD have cried and DS cried on the phone. I can't cry.

The house seems very empty. I have washed up his bowls and will take his food to the pet food bank later.

He won't be on the arm of my chair tonight, or on the bed later. The cat flap hasn't banged shut all day.

RIP Darling Boy

@RosesAndHellebores it was the chairs fault. Arms to long. Fabric too silky . Looked to much like mouse.

Pudmyboy · 09/01/2023 00:56

I am so sorry for your loss, he was a gorgeous boy 💐
I echo what previous posters have said, sounds like he had his usual morning moither (great word!) then left you to pass away peacefully in his home where he was loved.
I have heard cats like to move away and be by themselves at the end, maybe this was what he did...
Not much help right now, but may bring you comfort later on.

Finallydo · 23/01/2023 13:30

Sorry for your loss, a beautiful boy

I hope he was at the gate at the 🌈 bridge to meet my princess, Tilly, who passed yesterday .

I can understand your loss, we are devastated 😢

IheardYouButDontWantToAnswer · 23/01/2023 13:36

So sorry. What a horrible shock. He was loved, very well cared-for, and died in his own home. It was just his time. My old boy (19) died after being hit by a car last October. We miss them when we've loved them so much x

Finallydo · 23/01/2023 13:59

We have a second cat, Fluffy, I just want to hold him and protect him. I spoke to the vet this morning, she only had her annual check on 5 Jan. She was a stressed cat, the vet said she could have had a stroke or heart attack. We are heartbroken, especially DH.

So sorry I have hijacked your thread.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 23/01/2023 14:25

Ah @Finallydo I'm so sorry to hear about Tilly. It's such a shock isn't it. Look after yourself and remember how much she was loved. Flowers

RosesAndHellebores · 26/01/2023 21:07

@Finallydo not at all. I am so sorry. They are so loved and so much missed.

Our boy's ashes came home today and it feels good to have him back. We must chose a new tree to plant with him. I am having the pond dug out this spring and shall pop him in the centre. He spent so many hours at the edge of the pond, not quite falling in.

So sorry for the loss of your beautiful boy. There will be lots of other pussy cats waiting for him over the Rainbow Bridge, sayng " come on, welcolme welcome."

Wolfiefan · 26/01/2023 21:15

So glad he’s home. That sounds like a perfect spot.

Theraffarian · 07/01/2023 15:11

You have them so long , that I think we all start to feel they are invincible. Each one is magically perfect in their own way , just as each successor fills a gap but is never a replacement for the ones that went before . Sending love as it’s a horribly sad time , but remember to acknowledge all the wonderful days came before.

This is very well put.

RosesAndHellebores · 26/01/2023 21:24

@Emdubz yes it was. I missed it in the moment. Thank you @Theraffarian

Glad your boy is back where he belongs ❤️
I am only just able to look at photos and videos of my rescue boy who was put to sleep in October. I can smile at them now but they broke my heart in the meantime x

uncomfortablydumb53 · 26/01/2023 21:26

That sounds a perfect resting place for your boy

Nimbostratus100 · 26/01/2023 21:27

what a beautiful boy xx

7catsisnotenough · 26/01/2023 21:30

Sending you love and hugs, our cats are family and losing them is absolutely heartbreaking. Our eldest lady is almost 21 and we know she's enjoying her last few months... I don't know how we'll cope when she goes 😞
Just remember you gave your fur baby the best life and loved them massively 💐xx

2chocolateoranges · 26/01/2023 21:33

They really do become a huge part of the family. Sounds like he just went to sleep, the best way to go.

Growing up we never had pets but it’s so nice to have this pocket rocket fur ball in our house. I dread the day we lose our Cat .

1980sfookup · 26/01/2023 21:39

I'm so sorry. I am both a cat and dog person. Our pets may be small in stature but the gap they leave when they go is as wide.ad the ocean. I can offer no words that will heal your pain and I empathize. Our lovely pets are here for such a short but important time. We are honoured to have them.

Manaslave18 · 28/01/2023 18:22

How are you feeling now OP? I lost one of my girls very suddenly last weekend and I’ve not stopped crying all week. Even changing the litter tray had me weeping as I was throwing away litter she had toileted in - ridiculous I know.

RosesAndHellebores · 28/01/2023 19:34

@Manaslave18 I am sorry for your loss. It's hard isn't it. Flowers

We have happier times ahead. We are adopting a bonded pair of girls. They are nearly 7 months. Rescued from Greece before the authorities did their annual kitten cull.

One torte, one tabby. Very nervous and have lived in a pen for far too long. We hope to provide them with a safe and secure home where they will relax and learn to love us.

Wolfiefan · 11/02/2023 20:49

Oh that’s wonderful news OP. Hope they settle well.

Emdubz · 11/02/2023 20:53

That’s wonderful 😍

userxx · 11/02/2023 20:55

Awww, this is lovely news and a fitting tribute to your boy. I'd hoped Greece weren't as barbaric as what it used to be, but it appears not 😞. Sounds like those two girls have landed on their paws.

RosesAndHellebores · 11/02/2023 20:58

Here you go. Aren't they lovely.

Oh, what beauties, and the tabby/ginger mix is so unusual!
