Best non smelly litter for indoor cats

I know we've had a million threads like this but here's another one given that new brands are coming on the market all the time.

What's the best you've used and how economical for multiple cats?

I use Ever Clean cat litter from Amazon. A box costs around £15 and lasts my two cats about 6 weeks. I’ve had cats all my life and I’ve never used such a good litter. No smell at all.

LipbalmOrKnickers · 05/11/2022 19:05

Same as MaisyMary77, I get the unfragranced Ever Clean from Amazon and it really is brilliant, I don't get quite so long out of a box (maybe three weeks with two indoor cats) but it's the best I've ever used. Wish they sold it locally though!

Any wood pellet type.
I buy mine by the sackful and have it delivered.

Toddlerteaplease · 05/11/2022 20:03

I use intersand classic.

RandomMess · 05/11/2022 20:10

Clumping is VanCat

www.vancatuk.com

Or buy sieve system trays and use wood pellets

Brit pet or PeeWee do them

I second Ever Clean clumping litter but we go through it very fast so ends up being ££

GiantKitten · 05/11/2022 20:13

Previously Cat’s Best, but recently tried the Greenwood’s plant fibre and I think it’s better (Cat’s Best seemed to change a while back).
It is relatively expensive, but with regular scooping and occasional top-ups it lasts for weeks. (I’ve got 3 cats who all use one jumbo covered litter tray - there are also 2 smaller ones, but they prefer the huge one - and half a bag in that is good for a couple of months)
The litter itself just has a faint clean smell of wood, and smothers poo smells very effectively. Used litter can be flushed (carefully!) or composted.

We use ever clean too, but I have to change the litter every 10 ish days (2 cats!) so wondering how you get 6 weeks and am very jealous.

we have just got those auto cleaning cat litters with the gel in and though we are only a few days in, I’m really impressed. They were bloody expensive though!

This is what I use too. We have 5 cats.

MrsKrankyPants · 05/11/2022 20:20

I only use wood pellets.

Do you mind me asking what the model/brand or where you got it from?

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 05/11/2022 20:24

Vancat litter. 5 indoor cats and 40kg lasts just over a month. (Scooped out multiple times daily. ). Doesn’t smell
at all.

We have 2 of these so far we are really impressed!

thelobsterquadrille · 05/11/2022 22:32

Another vote for Greenwood's.

We buy in bulk off ZooPlus - three indoor cats and it lasts ages and doesn't smell.

CherryIce · 05/11/2022 22:48

Mine will only use catisan

womblesofwimbledon5 · 05/11/2022 23:13

I have a 10 year old cat and 2 5 month old kittens are also here too for a while. I use the wood pellets they are the best I get them from Asda- some of the litters smell so bad after even 1 day I don’t know how they can sell them! I also bought a deodorising spray for the litter too just to help

Mada1985 · 05/11/2022 23:54

Wood pellets here But I buy the ones for horses cheaper and the same thing

whirlyhead · 06/11/2022 13:57

Worlds best cat litter. You can throw it down the loo which is a huge advantage in my book. And it never smells.

Babdoc · 06/11/2022 14:01

Another vote for wood pellets. Just a faint natural smell of fresh pine forest, very pleasant. I bought a bulk load, but my current cat mainly toilets outdoors, and only uses it in bad weather, so it lasts ages!

Please don't chuck cat litter down the loo!

TheGriffle · 06/11/2022 14:07

Can anyone who uses clumping advise me? Every one I’ve tried, it ends up stuck to the bottom of the tray in one big claggy mess despite regular scooping and mixing. No idea what we’re doing wrong!

We recently purchased Catsan wood comfort non clumping litter and have been very impressed with the lack of smell. All the others we’ve tried recently have smelt after 2 days (clumping and non clumping) but this lasted a week before it needed changing and could have gone longer if we’d not been doing a big clean.

Foxfeeder · 06/11/2022 14:11

Cats Best. Doesn’t smell and lasts for ages. Does track though.

RandomMess · 06/11/2022 14:14

@TheGriffle perhaps your cats like to dig to the bottom of the tray to pee?

Did you shake the litter tray to get the clumps to the top?

Did you shake it all to one spade and then the other to scoop out the ones on the bottom?

TheGriffle · 06/11/2022 14:50

@RandomMess the little one digs like crazy when he’s in there, will that be the reason?
We shake, dig with the scoop to get the easy bits but then end up having to shift it all to one end to hack at great stuck mounds of clay at the bottom.
