Cat seems a bit off. Any ideas? Photo included

She's 7.5, in excellent health and eats well. She's always stood behind the kitchen door in the morning for food!

This morning she wasn't there - she was still asleep curled up on the sofa. This is highly unusual. I did a school run and got back and she was still there.

I shook the dreamies and she sat up but didn't come running . She ALWAYS comes running!

She wouldn't eat her breakfast (after I picked her up) so I pulled out the big guns and popped down a fresh prawn and some fresh crab. Tried a piece of roast chicken. Sniffed but wouldn't eat

I've squeezed her all over and nothing is hurting her. I know 100% she hadn't been in a fight .

I wouldn't call her lethargic as such but she's sat there just looking ... depressed? A bit down?

Took her upstairs with me and she is just laying there. Tried tempting with a dreamie . No.

Purrs when I stroke her. I know cats hide pain but I'm not getting a vibe she's in pain.

Now, I didn't have to look after my daughters Ragdoll yesterday which enraged her. We have multiple rooms downstairs so was able to hero then separate at all times but she was hissing away for a little while - could this still be bothering her? I don't think it's likely

So ... do I leave this a while? Not sure I can take her to a vet with the only symptom being ' she seems a bit down and didn't eat breakfast!'

Thanks in advance

She looks much smugger now Grin I'll glad she's feeling better. Good on you for knowing her so well.

Haven't read the full thread but felix cat food is known to cause kidney issues and is harming a hell of a lot of cats atm since the recipe change. I won't give mine it now

KirstenBlest · 04/05/2022 14:02

@VanillaIce1 , do you have any scientific data to suppport that claim?

VanillaIce1 · 04/05/2022 14:30

@KirstenBlest Do you have any data to support that it doesn't? 36 and a half thousand people can't be wrong. Cats are dying and become unwell left right and centre the only connecting factor is Purina Products. Both my cats were I'll on Felix vet could find no cause. Stopped felix both healthy and thriving.

Same for many others I know.

If I was you I'd keep an eye out in your top 3 supermarkets in the next few weeks to see what's coming off the shelves for a whilst.

VanillaIce1 · 04/05/2022 14:36

And im aware that some vets are also not recommending to feed it either. We've just moved house and gotten a new kitten and when we was taking about it she said she was aware and it's worrying how many cats have been affected. But you won't find many vets out right saying it.

KirstenBlest · 04/05/2022 14:39

@VanillaIce1 , can you give me a link to scientific proof please

VanillaIce1 · 04/05/2022 15:27

@KirstenBlest Have a look yourself. Or get a cat and feed it and find out that way like other poor people have. Don't understand why people get so stressed by the thought of it not being true. No one has any gain from this. Just dead or unwell pets that don't recover. Only a small margin do.

KirstenBlest · 04/05/2022 15:33

You are making claims about cat food being unsafe for cata @VanillaIce1 .

If you are making claims like that you need to be able to have data to prove it.

DCat is only fed raw organic unicorn meat, so it doesn't affect him, but DFriend feeds his many cats Felix.

Kat1953 · 04/05/2022 16:35

I hadn't heard Felix was so bad but I am aware that a flurry of owners found their cats started being sick once the recipe apparently changed.

CarrieCookie · 04/05/2022 17:01

I knew the cheaper DRY cat food caused urinary/kidney issues in male cats but I’ve not heard about all Purina products Confused Where have you heard this @VanillaIce1?

Had this with my 13 year old boy Eric. Turned out he had an infected throat two weeks after a dental surgery. Had more teeth out and a feeding tube put in, had to tube feed him for over a week and change dressings daily. Come of shame tried but taken off as dressings so secure. He was still, feared losing him. Cried when he ate his first licky lix. One month on back to normal, eating me out of house and home and waking me at five trying to get his breakfast an hour early!
He is on my knee now having a wash and purring his head off. The stopping eating suddenly would suggest that like mine, pain is stopping him eating. Really would not delay with vet. Good luck, hope it is not too bad.

@Mumsgirls I updated yesterday - she's absolutely fine
