Cheddar is not herself.

She was fine yesterday. But when I got up to go to bed she sat upright and wouldn't move. And didn't seem too keen on being touched or picked up. She did come upstairs but was creeping round like she was stalking something. She is otherwise waking normally. She didn't come to bed with me as she normally would. And when she did. She didn't like me of make biscuits. She let me tickle her tummy but didn't seem overly happy about being touched. Eating and drinking ok I think. I'm at work today so have left the camera on. And my dad will take her to the vet tomorrow if needed. Any ideas? Don't know if something has just really spooked her or there is something wrong.

Forgot pic. This was literally two minutes before I moved and she froze. This is normal cheddar!

It sounds like she's in pain - I would take her to be checked.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/04/2022 13:22

I'm on a 12 hour shift so will see what she's like tonight. But have booked an appointment tomorrow. Obviously if I'm really worried I'll take her to the OOH.

Is there any possibility that you have a mouse in your house?

SalsaLove · 07/04/2022 14:14

Could she be scared of the wind?

Toddlerteaplease · 07/04/2022 14:28

I did wonder that. She isn't a fan of wind but she's normally a very chilled out cat. Even fireworks don't bother her. But my first instinct was she was spooked rather than in pain/ injured. And I can't see how she could have got an injury. However this is the Toddler girls who don't do normal things so who knows.

She's still not right. Waiting for a video appointment with the vet. Sad

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/04/2022 20:43

Oh Lord. She never goes out, makes you wonder how they pick things up.

She’s your cat so it’s going to be something exotic & exciting isn’t it?

Toddlerteaplease · 07/04/2022 21:19

So the lite bugger spent the entire call, purring and being an absolute floozy on FaceTime. She's now looking much happier and talking normally. The vet thinks it's a muscular issue and should settle down. Still have the vets appointment tomorrow if needed. But she certainly seems better now I've spent money on her! HmmHmm

Atta girl Cheddar. They do like to make you look like you have hypochondria by proxy.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/04/2022 21:41

This is definitely normal Cheddar!

nettie434 · 07/04/2022 22:32

Glad you are feeling better Cheddar!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 07/04/2022 22:43

Aww she's adorable. When my dcat was behaving like this she had a hidden abscess and a raging temperature but when i picked her up she sort of shriek meowed so maybe you would know. It's so hard when they can't tell you. Hope she's ok x

Toddlerteaplease · 08/04/2022 03:32

@teaandtoastwithmarmite yes. When her sister had pancreatitis, she cried when I picked her up. I'm awake at 3.30 because cheddar has poked and prodded me. That is definitely normal behaviour for her!!

It's hope not. I will burn the house down if there is!

"creeping around like she was stalking something" made me think of a mouse!

Toddlerteaplease · 08/04/2022 15:39

I don't think she'd know what to do with one!

Want2beme · 08/04/2022 16:00

So glad she seems fine. My Ambrose is a bit spooked at the moment. Who knows what goes on in their crazy cat mindsGrin

Allergictoironing · 08/04/2022 17:07

You say that, but I remember when I had mice in my conservatory and my lovely cuddly special needs Boycat turned out to be a demon mouser
ronjobbins · 08/04/2022 17:11

I would still take her for a face to face appt. Hope she’s feeling better soon.

Pixiedust1234 · 08/04/2022 17:12

So she was poorly until you spoke to the vet and now she's fine? Sounds normal catlike behaviour (the sods). Hopefully she still feels/behaves okay today Flowers

Theunamedcat · 08/04/2022 17:19

My one cat does this when he has a hairball he freezes acts weird etc its odd

iklboo · 08/04/2022 17:30

Changes was like this when he'd sprained his hip jumping off the windowsill. He was fine a couple of days later. Hope Cheddar is in fine fettle soon.

Toddlerteaplease · 08/04/2022 17:46

@Pixiedust1234 yep, rolling in her back, demanding tummy tickles and looking very smug! I couldn't believe it!

Toddlerteaplease · 08/04/2022 17:48

First picture was before vet call. She never sits like that! Second picture is afterwards, normal chilled Cheddar!
