First or craziest thing your cat brought home?

This morning our sweet kitten came in with a new friend for the first time...she was carrying (well, hanging out of her mouth) the largest f'ing dragonfly I've ever seen in my life Shock.

What's the first thing your cat brought home? Or the craziest thing they've brought back home? Grin

One of mine brought home a sausage from our neighbour;s bbq.

Another brought home some of the fish from his pond.

My neighbours hate our cats.

Our local fox-cub population on the other hand bring us shoes that have clearly been left outside, and dog toys. I started photographing the dog toys and putting them on our lcoal community facebook page so people could come an collect them. The strangest thing we got was a little frilly tiny girl's bathing suit that probably was left outside to dry.

My long deceased Siamese brought a child’s clown toy over several fences. It was washed and returned...
The next Siamese brought a friend, a black and white cat who eventually moved in.
My friend’s Siamese used to bring home underwear, often socks or children’s knickers!

Pie chips and peas in a plastic bag

Latte40 · 24/08/2021 20:31

A squirrel

A half dead rat he then sat back and watched as it ran around the house whilst he had a snooze

A large bird wing

A toy bucket (maybe a barbie one)

Many hair bobbles

We no longer have cats but this brought back memories of when we did,

Naughty cat always brought back the worst, 12 frogs one summer, some still alive, they used to randomly jump out at us from places they’d escaped to.
A couple of carp, we always knew when he’d been fishing as being very fluffy would come back with wet front legs.

Good cat never caught anything, but did bring in one of those troll dolls with the orange hair.

No longer have cats as enjoy the birds in garden and we’ve also got a terrier whose mission is to catch a cat.

My aunt’s cat brought a dead heron back!

Cotswoldmama · 24/08/2021 20:43

Crisp packets, leaves, live birds and live butterflies!

CovidCorvid · 24/08/2021 20:43

And my cat brought a live bat home and promptly let it go inside the house.

Picklypickles · 24/08/2021 20:44

I don't currently have a cat, but we have new neighbours with 2 cats who just love to get into our house at any opportunity. One of them brought a live frog into our house and the other has brought us dozens of plastic drinking straws! She either scatters them around the front garden, places piles of them on our back doorstep or if a door/window is open she'll bring them in and meow loudly before dropping them at our feet! No idea where she is stealing them from, her owners haven't got a clue either!

Saw an exes neighbours cat carrying a rabbit almost as big as it was down the road and once we found a dead mole that the same cat had left on his front steps!

One of my old cats who was living with my dad by then brought in a dead bat.

Stoolpigeon21 · 24/08/2021 20:47

Numerous dead creatures and some that are still alive 🥺
A wide collection of cat toys that I haven’t bought her.

Jamandlemoncurd · 24/08/2021 20:48

A huge owl. He swang it round and round by one wing

MyneAllMyne · 24/08/2021 20:54

Mine brought home this little fella a few years ago. I didn’t let him keep him.

My current cat is 9 and has just decided she's a hunter. We've had 2 shrews, a mouse and a bird in the last 5 days.

My boy cat once jumped back into our garden with a mouthful of water thin ham. And also regularly stole sandwiches that the neighbours left on their kitchen table.

MyneAllMyne · 24/08/2021 20:57

@Picklypickles, I don’t think I’m neighbours with you ex 😁

Flatdisco · 24/08/2021 20:58

When I was a kid my cat brought home a koi carp. Quite impressed really, but also a bit embarrassing for my parents as we knew which neighbour it was from.

Caaarrrl · 24/08/2021 21:00

One of ours had a fascination for bringing in worms and moss.

Another one used to bring those body off things that you put shower gel on. Think he found three of those. A dirty nappy in a nappy bag was another good present.

The strangest one was a complete squid. I finally figured out that the only way he could have got that in the middle of a Yorkshire city was by stealing it from the fish delivery man that used to sell fish to the old couple opposite us.

Caaarrrl · 24/08/2021 21:00

*body puff things

YesPleaseMary · 24/08/2021 21:02

A large clump of hay, the day that I came home from hospital with newborn DD1. We like to think she was helping with the nesting. Made a nice change from the usual headless rodents though.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 24/08/2021 21:26

A Syrian Hamster.

Still alive and very grumpy about it. Never did find out where she came from, but Lars lived for another 7 months, scowling at DP when he was recording bass parts from her hastily purchased hammy palace in the spare bedroom.

GoodnightGrandma · 24/08/2021 21:27

A live baby rabbit

LindaEllen · 24/08/2021 21:30

I've posted about this before but ours jumped over the fence and stole a burger from next door's bbq and brought it in proudly. We went to apologise!

Starlitexpress · 24/08/2021 21:30

A whole birds nest dragged through the catflap complete with dead baby bird. I swear it was bigger than the cat flap...?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 24/08/2021 21:32

Oh, forgot about the other cat. She brought back an entire Indian suit (bright green, gold embroidery) and over the course of about a week, about ten delicate bangles. The neighbour found it funny when I took them back to her, saying that she'd started visiting when she brought her baby home and would lay down half under the cot and watch him, but didn't know she was paying cat nurse fees.

Coogee · 24/08/2021 21:38

The weirdest thing was today.

One of these.
